Our family highly recommends working with Johnson Custom Builders. Ryan is by far the best contractor we've ever worked with and we've done multiple projects with him over the last 4+ years. We originally hired him to finish our garage, outdoor studio shed, and mud room on our old house. We were so impressed that he was our first and only call when we decided to purchase a new home. Ryan's crew started working on our new house last year and upgraded it to our desired specifications. He is always communicative and easy to work with when discussing ideas and designs. The crew did an excellent job on everything and you can see it in the craftmanship. It was a pretty massive project, but Ryan was able to get our family in to the new house within the projected timeline and we couldn't be happier with the results. Johnson Custom Builders overall provided us with great indoor/outdoor design, building expertise and reliable communication.

I purchased my house in 2018, which was originally designed and built by Johnson Custom Builders. When I decided to add to my outdoor living area, I called him again and he exceeded my expectations with his design ideas, planning and execution. Since then, Ryan and his team have designed and built several other projects for me, custom laundry room with floating dividing barn doors, a custom den cabinet/bar floor to vaulted ceiling with rolling ladder including several custom enhancements to support my hobbies and use of spaces, repairs, painting, and even landscape design. No matter what the project, Ryan is always my first call. Ryan’s attention to detail, communication, and ability to manage every aspect of the job are exceptional. He keeps you updated throughout the process, welcomes feedback, and is always respectful, punctual, and professional. His crew works neatly and cleans up daily, which I really appreciate. The quality of the materials and craftsmanship is top-notch, from the design and engineering phase to the permitting phase, he has handled all the technical aspects of my projects—Ryan handles it all seamlessly. His subcontractors are equally skilled and reliable, and he keeps you informed of schedules or changes. Living alone, I especially appreciate his courtesy in texting or calling when someone is arriving. We recently worked with Johnson Custom Builders to complete a total remodel of our master bathroom and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. We interviewed about 5 companies for the job, and it was clear from the start that working with the owner at JCB was a perfect match for us. This was our first major renovation, and we were anxious about...basically everything! We worked directly with the owner, and he made sure that we knew exactly what to expect at every point of the process. He encouraged us to dream big and then figured out ways to value engineer a solution that was closer to our budget. He brought experts into the project and was very respectful of our home and our family while the project was in process. He was the perfect blend of consultant, designer, builder, project manager, and sometimes even a mediator (!) when we couldn't agree on things. We are excited to continue remodeling our home in the coming years and wouldn't dream of using anyone other than JCB.

Ryan and team did a fantastic job of helping us with a project to repair a beam that was structurally unsound. We were kept very well informed of all key events and as usual (we’ve worked with Ryan several times) everything went without a hitch. Ryan and team do an outstanding job, and we would not hesitate to work with them again.

Ryan was absolutely fantastic. I was nervous about bumping up my project to the next level and hiring him as an architect but he made everything easy and understandable. I felt like he was a true member of my team.

We worked with Ryan at Johnson Custom Builders to rework the first floor of our home to create a separate office/guest room and add a new bathroom. We additionally had the flooring replaced, painted several areas, and redid the fireplace surround. The completed project is a first floor that suites the needs of our family much better. Ryan helped us to consider our options for how we could achieve a better design and layout for our first floor. He involved us throughout the process and we were able to figure out the new design with his guidance and design expertise. As part of the work we had a lot of tile work done. The outcome is very high quality. The new hardwood floor is also very nice and well done. It was a pleasure to work with Ryan and we are very happy with our new space.

We have had the pleasure of working with **** since 2011, and over the years he has completed several projects for us that have spanned large complex remodels, new construction, and major structural repairs. Ryan and his team did a great job on our basement remodel. Communication was strong as was attention to detail. A concerted effort was made to keep the worksite clean. Like many renovations, it took longer than anticipated and we encountered a measurement hiccup that, while solved, could have been identified and addressed upfront

Ryan was great to work with - he was prompt, punctual and detailed and clearly knows his stuff. We didn’t go forward because we decided to purchase another home instead of remodeling the existing one, but had we continued with our original plan, we would definitely moved forward with Ryan.

As always, super pleased with all of the work. I was given detailed quotes and explanations. Communication was always prompt. I now have a retaining wall that is probably going to outlast the house. Very happy.

Johnson Custom Builders performed the initial design work on a home addition to add a “Mother in Law” apartment. My only stipulations were it must have: separate entrance, separate kitchen and separate bathroom. The lot size presented problems and access issues. JCB presented a solution that took into consideration that only his experience could foresee: building codes, drainage and aesthetics.

Ryan and his team completed an extensive basement remodel in our 1924 home. The basement work included new framing/drywall, windows (including a large egress window), plumbing and electrical to support a main living space, new bathroom and new laundry room. We also updated our old forced-air HVAC and water heather to new mini-splits and a tankless water heater. This is our second major project with Ryan and we plan to work with him for many years to come. He's incredibly responsive and detail oriented and always plans phases of our projects to support our future plans. Ryan's expertise and quality of work is well worth the cost.

Once we decided to move forward, JCB moved quickly, and they kept us appraised of progress every step of the way. The end result showed attention to every detail. We would gladly choose JCB again.
