Contractor failed to install adequate drainage, despite promises to the contrary, and refused multiple requests to fix the issue. During the project the contractor diverted time away from my project to take on a new project with my neighbor, leading to delays on my project. Contractor inexplicably and intentionally routed my neighbor's drainage/run-off onto my property in a location with inadequate drainage capacity, resulting in a wholly unusable, swampy and marshy yard on the back of my property. Again, contractor refused to remedy. Contractor did a good job on pouring the concrete slab for the sport court. The gas fire pit is a little off (not quite round and not quite straight, with incorrect mounting of the gas pipework (according to the gas man), but overall the firepit is not too bad. Contractor was awarded the project with the understanding that he would also install a covered patio area and built-in BBQ as part of the price. After a few weeks on the project the contractor changed his estimate stating that he would be unable to perform the project as was agreed upon. He claimed it was miscommunication. Contractor's staff was friendly and polite, and worked hard, but contractor made a few very important commitments and promises ("you have my word" sort of promises) that he did later did not honor.
Description of Work: Landscaping including regrading the yard, performing as a general contractor for installing a concrete slab for a sport court, installation of a gas fire pit, and new sod for the backyard.
This project did not go well. The contractor made numerous promises and assurances that he never delivered on, despite accepting full payment from us. I will never again hire this contractor and I would urge all others to steer clear. - Contractor gave us an intentionally low bid and then switched the price on us after we were too far into the project to be able to do much about it. As a result, we had to cease significant parts of our project. - Contractor intentionally diverted surface water run-off/drainage from my neighbor's property (while he was working my job, he sold a job to my neighbor and slowed work on my project to accommodate my neighbor. I know, right?) onto my property without subsequently establishing adequate drainage on my property. This has created a huge issue for us. - The gas fire pit he installed is crooked. The gas pipes were installed incorrectly according to the gas company which subjects my gas fixtures to accelerated wear and tear. - The project took several weeks longer to complete (due to the neighbor's project diversion) - The contractor installed a water spout incorrectly on the back of my property which leaked for several days before it was detected. I estimate this cost me several hundreds of dollars in additional water expenses. On and on and on. The worst part, I trusted this contractor's word and handshake that he would come back and resolve any issues that he created. That was my HUGE mistake. Although this contractor did return to resolve a few of his minor mistakes, he has refused to return to fix an enormous drainage issue he created which has rendered my back yard practically useless.
Description of Work: Contractor was to regrade my back yard, and install a new back yard lawn with drainage and sprinklers, a concrete slab for a sport court, a gas fire pit, and an outdoor kitchen area with a built in gas BB. The project was initially slated to be billed on a time and materials basis with a not to exceed number and was revised mid way through the project to be a fixed fee. The contractor failed to install the outdoor kitchen and gas BBQ and created numerous other issues for me throughout the project which I still deal with today.
