Some unexpected delays with order and delivery but product was then not available on the West Coast. Installation was delayed a couple of times but installers seemed very competent and thorough. In was a new type of installation for them though they had done dozens of Marmoleum installs. New product. ( have since discovered it was installed in the Seattle Public Libraries at the same time). Alliance is not normally a residential installer, referred by respected contractor. Price, timing estimates were very good. New underlayment over the subfloor was put in over a sheet of rubber sound insulation material. The Marmoleum was heat welded. It looked beautiful. Still love the floor but hate the squeak. In spite of promise to come out and fix, that never happened. The stair carpeting was commercial quality and good but the installation (different from the Marmoleum installers) was poor. Gaps and visible staples. That was to be repaired along with the squeak. Never happened. Emails, calls, promises. but nothing could get them back out to repair the carpet or squeak. Even withholding final payment got no results. Two years later looking for payment, encouraged them to come out and finish the job... never heard from them again. Quite a frustrating experience and warranty worthless.

There was a little bit of a time crunch and I did all the carpet-pad-carpet tack strip removal myself. It was a very small job for Alliance (maybe 700 square feet or less). Of course I wanted it done yesterday but it was such a specialized product it had to be shipped from the east coast and we were not on the same page all the time. A commercial product in a residential home, with two unfamiliar products had its own set of challenges. Still it was only 6 weeks from quote to final install. Unfortunately, a couple of weeks after the installation the floor started this really loud squeak. I was told that they would come out and they didn't. The carpet that was installed on the stairs had staples showing and wasn't finished on the corners (holes) and they said they would come out to fix it. They didn't. I had a couple of emails and calls back and forth but they never actually came to figure out what went wrong. I withheld $1,000 as incentive and after months of requests, they said they would have to cut out the Marmoleum and patch it so I said OK, I even had enough of the leftover on hand. That was the end of the discussion, I got no response. Then a year later I was asked for the $1,000. The person asking for the money was obviously not versed on the issue. I was happy to pay them to fix it. No word since. Though I love the floor, the squeak drives me nuts!
Description of Work: Marmoleum Decibel is a commercial product that I wanted for my dog boarding area. Not a huge job for them but Alliance was the only company willing to go the extra mile to get it for me and to install it.
