They routed the new gas line from the gas meter from the side of the house, all the way down the side and back of the house, under the deck and to the hot tub. It was a lot of work. They were actually pretty quick., We already had a gas line installed due to our gas BBQ and they just had to connect to that and do another junction. They were worth the money.
Description of Work: All Climate Heating and Air Conditioning installed a gas line. This price included a discount if we paid cash.

I called Ballard Natural Gas company, who says that each of their service trucks stocks both the igniter and the inducer motor because they are common parts. To replace both, it would cost around $650, but they said they would likely be able to separate the wheel from the motor to reuse it; that would make the cost of the repair less than quoted. They said that Jason's report to me sounded strange, however, because the furnace unit has shut off mechanisms in place if there was a true failure and a CO2 issue. We decided to have one of our friends who works at an enterprise-sized HVAC company in Fife recommend a service person to come look at the furnace to give us another opinion at our home. Our friend recommended the same service person who we had worked with when we had an issue at a second home we have in North Seattle. Here is what that service person found: • All Climate Heating & Air Conditioning misrepresented the issues with the unit. • The igniter should operate between 1 and 3 amps. It is presently operating at 2.8 amps which is still within operating parameters. There is no need to replace the igniter at this time. • The motor, which helps evacuate carbon monoxide and other exhaust gasses from the furnace to the outside of the house, has not failed. It is operating normally. Should it fail, there is an attached pneumatic pressure switch (a safety interlock) which would detect the failure and prevent the furnace from firing up. The interlock protects from us from a partial failure of the motor (e.g. – not spinning fast enough) all the way up to and including a complete failure. • The only other issue our service person found was that the previous tech had left the electrostatic and regular filters out of the unit. They needed to be cleaned and reinstalled. Our service person was surprised to hear that All Climate Heating & Air Conditioning had insisted on shutting down the furnace for our safety. In his experience, if there was a life safety issue involving carbon monoxide, the technician should have called out PSE to shut off the gas to the unit. That was not done. In fact, the previous tech didn’t even shut off the breakers to the unit. He just left it disassembled enough not to work. Additionally, we were without heat in nearly freezing weather from the service date, 3/5/10, to the date that our service person turned the operational furnace back on, 3/10/10. We suffered very cold days and nights during this time that we had no heat. I feel that All Climate Heating & Air Conditioning preyed on our family to make money. They turned off the furnace because they told me that the CO2 levels would kill us. They said that a replacement part would be very hard to find and tried to force us into buying a whole new unit (this unit is only 10 years old). They inflated both the timeline and the cost of replacement parts, saying that it would cost us $1,144 just for parts (labor not included) to have the motor and igniter replaced, which is half more than other companies charge. They said it could take weeks – best case 1.5 weeks – to get the replacement parts and the unit was so unsafe that we would have to be without heat until then. We reported All Climate Heating & Air Conditioning to the Attorney General and to the BBB. All Climate Heating & Air Conditioning never responded to either entity. And, they never refunded us the $119.36. What's worse? We're still on their call list. It's almost like a sick joke. Unless you want to be taken advantage of or spend needless money, do not hire All Climate Heating & Air Conditioning for anything - ever.
Description of Work: Every year, All Climate Heating & Air Conditioning calls us to schedule a furnace maintenance visit. We set up an appointment with them for routine maintenance for 3/5/10. The furnace maintenance person, Jason Blevins, came out to our home. He said that the igniter on the furnace needed to be replaced. He also said that the inducer motor had gone bad and, thus, our home was being poisoned by CO2 because he said that motor draws the CO2 from the furnace to the outside. He said he had to shut down the furnace due to unsafe conditions, even telling me that we could die in our sleep. Jason said that he didn't think it would be easy to find a replacement motor but that he could install a new furnace on Monday, 3/8, for $3,500 to $5,000. He shut down the furnace by leaving it disassembled just enough not to work (not shutting off the breaker or the gas to the unit). I said that I wanted to have another company give us a second estimate on the repair. He charged me $119.36 for the service, and he did not clean the air filters as promised (and part of the service).

It was really good. As with any project, it ended up being a little more expensive. It wasn't that they misquoted, but we ended up adding more stuff as we went into the project. They were professional, on time, and clean. We had a really good experience. They did a ton of work for us. They were always on time when they said they were going to be here. They told me exactly how long it was going to take and they met those goals. They guided through the process and I felt they weren't trying to sell me the more expensive equipment, but really trying to find out what I needed and what worked.
Description of Work: They put in a new furnace, installed a heat pump which we didn't have previously, they swapped our water heater from electric to gas, and they did a bunch of internal gas plumbing so over time we can upgrade all of our electric appliances to gas.

I've had the new furnace now for several weeks. It is working as advertised - quieter than the old furnace, a great programmable thermostat and more even heat. The two guys who installed it did a good job, they were a little late arriving but they called to let me know what was happening. They cleaned up after themselves and explained to me how the furnace and thermostat worked. Overall I am very happy with the work, the price and the result. I would feel comfortable recommending them to a friend.
Description of Work: I needed to replace a gas furnace that was 30+ years old. I had four contractors come to talk to me about what we needed for a small house to get more even heat, to save money on our gas bill and to be more environmentally friendly. All, Brennan, Heritage, Mercurio and All Climate were responsive to my needs and explained the various options clearly. I chose the Bryant furnace from All Climate because of the significant difference in their quote compared to the others.

Our gas furnace stopped working just before Thanksgiving so we had the power company come out to turn off our gas. That cut off our heat, our hot water, our stoves, our oven, and anything else in our home that used gas. We were referred by the gas company to this company so we felt good about it. When the person came out to talk to us about the job he talked and talked and talked. He was a real motor mouth. His partner was even rolling his eyes and you could tell he wasn't listening to him anymore than we were. They said they had to cut 4 holes in our ceiling to find out where the pipes were. In the end the holes weren't even necessary. We had to pay them $1000 up front and then they didn't come back for 4 days. Before they came back I called the owner and said I didn't think the holes were necessary. He came out and took pictures of them and stood up for the employee. When the worker did come back he told me it would be $85 an hour instead of $75 and $150 for the appointments. They didn't say it would be an extra charge during the previous visit and they said it would be $75 an hour. When I contested it he said he had to call in to get the prices dropped. After he called in the price was dropped back to $75 an hour and the extra charge was dropped. But it was like I was a new customer when they had met with me the previous week. When they came to do the work they weren't careful at all. The main worker said their job was to get the job done and they didn't do clean up. Most workers that do things for us put covers on their shoes but these ones didn't. They came in and out of the weather and stomped through the house. I had to put sheets on everything so that they wouldn't ruin all of my furniture. He cut off all of the key valves for our fireplaces which he never corrected either. And through each appointment the talker kept talking and talking and talking. It seemed like he talked about every detail of his personal life. I wasn't interested in it. Definitely not while I was paying for him to be their by the hour. By the time the work was done it was December 5th so we didn't have gas that entire time. In the end the job was done and it was done pretty well but that was it. It took too long, it was over priced, and they weren't professional at all.

I scheduled estimates from four companies, one was a no-show, the other wanted to sit down and talk with me about my feelings on climate control for 30 minutes before looking at the furnace, and seemed off put by the idea of only installing a furnace and not a whole house heat pump with air quality filters, etc. Two companies were a nice happy medium, one of which was All Climate. I ultimately went with All Climate, as they seemed like a descent sized company who would be easy to reach and always available. They also ended up being the lowest priced bid-not by much, and I probably would have gone with them regardless, but I thought that was a nice bonus. The other company that I liked was a one man show, and while I'm sure he would have done a great job, he seemed like he was nearing his retirement years and I liked the idea of my heating company being around for many years into the future. Jay came out to do the estimate and he was polite, prompt, knowledgeable and explained my options clearly. He was easy to reach to schedule the work, and it seemed easy enough to deal with the All Climate office when I had to call in to reschedule the install date. The installer was on time, polite and got to work promptly. The install turned out to be an all day process-apparently he encountered some trouble along the way, but was able to deal with people at the main office who helped him through it. I saw this is a plus and a minus-a minus in that the installer probably wasn't the most experienced guy out there, but a plus in that he was able to get the help he needed from his main office to properly complete the job. I suppose I'd rather that be the case than him just winging it! The only slight problem was with the inspection date-I was told that it was scheduled for the next day, but when the inspector never came, I called the city inspection office and they had no appointment set for my permit number. So, I scheduled it myself and got it all squared away later that week. That wasn't much of an issue for me, as I work at home, but had I taken the day off to stay home for an inspection that was never scheduled, I would have been pretty irritated. Overall, we've been happy with our furnace so far. It's a huge improvement over the 20 year old one that we had! All Climate made the process quick and easy. **Update 2010** I've had my furnace for a while now and have had two occasions to have All Climate come out to service the unit- one for routine maintenance, and the other when the unit was not functioning correctly. Both times I was not impressed by their customer service representatives and policies. As part of my purchase contract with the furnace, I was told that I had an extended warranty on the unit from All Climate that would cover any issues that came up with the furnace- this was beyond the warranty that came from the manufacturer. I knew this didn't cover routine annual maintenance, but assumed it would cover any problems or issues. When the furnace wasn't working, the company still charged me for the service call, saying that their extended warranty only covered parts (which would have been covered by the manufacturer's warranty). And if I wanted service immediately (and who doesn't during winter), there would be a rush charge for the service call. Also-- I'm essentially bound to get yearly maintenance service from them (which us pricey and does not include a filter change) --otherwise they void your "extended warranty." So in other words-- their extended warranty is essentially a worthless sales gimmick, and seems like just a way to keep you in yearly maintenance which- let's face it- isn't really necessary for a brand new unit. I've learned this through spending more than a reasonable amount of time on the phone with their customer service reps who I've found to be "nice" but not consistently knowledgeable or helpful.

Initial guy doing the plumbing for connection from the meter to the furnace location was great, cheerful. Team doing the furnace install was also great, cheerful. Both did good work. But the All Climate office, and whoever installed the last bit of plumbing to hook up piping to the furnace, were an issue. Two problems: Problem #1: Office screwed up scheduling The All-Climate office got the furnace installer team availability dates wrong. As a result, furnace install happened a day later than planned. As a result of that, the inspectors were not going to be able to inspect and get gas turned on until after the weekend. So my wife had to work the phones and badger everyone to prevent our house from being without heat for five straight days. Once All Climate saw result of their scheduling screw-up, they should have stepped up to the plate and *made* all the inspections happen in timely manner, instead of leaving it up to us to fix. Problem #2: There's one last piece of the plumbing install -- the final hookup of the plumbing from the meter to the newly installed furnace -- which undergoes no inspection. Naturally, it was installed incorrectly and leaked. It wasn't until a few days worth of headaches that we realized the gas smell wasn't just left over from install, but was rather indicating a leak. To make worse, the phone # for All Climate we called apparently isn't checked on weekend, because no one called back. We ended up calling Wash Energy Svcs emergency line, the guy came with his tester and good-sized wrench, found the leak, tightened the joint, and all was well. And All Climate never called back, not even on following Monday. You'd think they'd be a little concerned that their customer had called to report a gas leak. Hard to ignore impression that once they get their check, they don't care any more.

I feel well cared for! They proactively called to remind me that it was time for my service, and were able to schedule with me to work around a remodeling project. The service man was the same one that had been out 18 months earlier, and he remembered my job. He was right on time. I asked for a lesson on cleaning my filters myself and he was helpful and showed me how to do it. I asked if I need to service the air conditioner and he told me that it gets serviced every other time the furnace does. He was honest and helpful.

All Climate came to do "annual" maintenance on our furnace (which we were utter failures at doing, frankly). They were scheduled to arrive on a Thursday at 10 a.m., but arrived a few minutes early, which worked out even better. During the inspection, they discovered two cracks in the heat exchanger box. They took the time to show me the cracks, and showed me the clogged filter that contributed to them with a detailed explanation of the importance of regularly changing filters. They explained that they were required to shut down the furnace and the gas to it, because it presented a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, and had me sign a waiver absolving them of responsibility if we turned it back on after they left. And they gave me a detailed breakdown of the cost of replacing the necessary parts, suggesting that due to the age of the furnace, we should consider replacing it but that, unfortunately, they didn't have any replacement service openings until sometime the following week. However, the service rep offered to return later the same day, when my husband could be available, to show us the line of furnaces they carried, and offered a couple of time options. I did a check on Angie's List, discovering that I could expect their prices to be highly competitive with other local dealers. So we set a 5 p.m. appointment, getting the unexpected but welcome news that if we decided to buy the replacement from All Climate, they would be able to install it on Saturday after all, so we wouldn't have to go through a long weekend without heat. The service rep arrived right on-time at 5 pm. The first question he asked was about the square footage of our home, and upon learning that it was smaller than he'd estimated, told us that the furnaces he'd originally had in mind for us was more than we needed to heat the space, which dropped us down a price category. (He could easily have oversold us, but didn't.) He spent about 45 minutes discussing the options and their pros and cons with us. He answered all of our questions thoughtfully and thoroughly, gave us a $75 discount in addition to applying the price of the original maintenance-service call to the cost of the new furnace, and explained what to expect on installation day. I took time to check with a couple of other furnace dealers about the furnace purchase price, and learned that All Climate's pricing was, indeed, as good or better than the other estimates. The installer and his helper arrived early Saturday morning, right on-time. They worked quickly and quietly, and had the new furnace hooked up within about three hours, including some gas line plumbing, ducting modifications and installation of a new thermostat. They demonstrated how to replace the filter (so much easier with the new furnace!), made sure we knew where the gas and electrical shutoffs were, and demonstrated how to program the new thermostat. They cleaned up after themselves completely, and left us warm and completely satisfied!

Dean Ufford was the representative that came out to the home for the estimate. Gary and Joe were the technicians who installed the piping and key valve. The installation went well despite problems with the pipe making machine. Gary and Joe spent approximately 4 hours on installation. A few days after installation we performed a soap test to see if there were any leaks. When we thought we saw some bubbling All Climate came out immediately to check. No gas leak was found but Gary and Joe tightened everything to make sure.

The Sales guy, Scott, came out and quoted all the different pieces we were looking to have done (2 furnaces, heat pump, and stand alone gas fireplace). Quote was $7,000 less than others. Ended up only doing one portion at this time. Not high pressure sales, which I greatly appreciated. Scott revisited our home before the installation to discuss placement, wiring, etc. Discussed potential problems with thermostat location so I was well aware of the issues before install guys came. I was warned that install guys might show up early because we live close to the office - which they did (7:15 am). Spent about a day and half installing all components. They laid drop cloths in the house and vacuumed up after themselves. Biggest complaint is the 12 x 15 hole they cut in the sheet rock of my ceiling to feed thermostat wires - that they said they don't fix. I was expecting exposed wires, but not that huge hole.

It went very well. Jon was very professional and knew what he was doing. He worked quickly, but didn't rush or skimp on anything. He did an excellent job of cleaning the air ducts. We weren't sure if the furnace had ever been cleaned or serviced before; and were very relieved when he said it was in good shape.

All Climate Heating & Air Conditioning in Redmond, WA agreed to directly sell me a Payne 90+ furnace at a price that was one third to one half of what other companies in the area quoted. My other quotes ranged from $2,700 for the furnace to $5,050 from another company for the furnace-plus-installation. They worked on pure honor system. The old furnace had stopped working; a technician from another company said the 17-year-old heat exchanger was leaking carbon monoxide at unacceptable levels. All Climate, by spoken agreement over the phone not only agreed to sell me the appropriate replacement, but offered to install it for a really affordable fee. The first quote estimated a three to four hour job; a friend who had installed a furnace said that I should plan for an all-day job if my (competent but non-HVAC-professional) family members were to install it. All Climate arrived two hours earlier than scheduled, and did the whole job, at the proposed price, in less than three hours.
Description of Work: All Climate removed a broken 17-year-old furnace and installed a new one. Both furnaces were Payne 90+. The job required the addition of a 6'' custom-built metal section to fit the newer furnace into the space. The workmen created this quickly, on-site; all materials and tools were with them in their truck. We agreed on a Friday in December; the furnace was installed and working earlier than scheduled by early Monday afternoon.

It was OK in the end, but it took much longer than expected, and they are clearly not familiar with the system that they installed for us. Additionally, the consultant/salesperson that came out mislead us in a number of areas. While I was quite unhappy with the technical level of some of the service people they sent (I ended up having to decipher what the installation guide said for their tech in order to fix a problem myself while the tech was here). They did try hard, but need more experience with this equipment if they are going to install and service it.

OUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD. THEY DID THE WORK QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. THE IDEA THEY GAVE US FOR MOVING THE COLD AIR RETURN WAS THE MOST EFFECTIVE.
Description of Work: WE HAD A FURNACE REPLACED AND OUR COLD AIR RETURN MOVED TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION IN THE HOUSE.

WHEN THE FURNACE STOPPED WORKING, AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS VERY COLD OUTSIDE, THE COMPANY WAS ABLE TO SEND A TECHNICIAN TO OUR HOUSE VERY QUICKLY. HE FIGURED THE PROBLEM WAS ONE OF TWO THINGS AND RETURNED THE NEXT DAY WITH THE NECESSARY PARTS. HE WORKED QUICKLY, NEATLY, AND WAS VERY POLITE. THE PRICE WAS BASED ON AN HOURLY RATE ONLY BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE UNDER WARRANTY.
Description of Work: FURNACE NOT WORKING, BLOWING ONLY COLD AIR. REPLACED MAIN BOARD AND THE FAN DID NOT WORK. THEN REPLACED ICM MODULE ON THE BLOWER AND REINSTALLED THE OLD MAIN BOARD WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS.
