They did good. It went very well as far as that goes. I would tell them that they did a good job. I would use them again in the future.

Description of Work: I purchased the original garage door service at the end of August. They scheduled promptly and Tim Bell came out and sprayed lubricant and looked at the door. There was/is some damage to the door because people have been trying to get in. He said he could replace the metal strip on the top of the door, which was bent and weakened because of the damage. He also said he would replace the first metal horizontal bar that provides support for the door. The bar that was installed was too short and was not supporting the door. I asked if he could get the parts in thicker metal. He quoted me $190 for the standard pieces and said he would research the thicker metal. I paid for the initial service to the door. A few days later, a woman called me back and said the quote was $190. After their delays and my delays, the service was scheduled for 10/22. Tim Bell showed up and pulled one new piece of metal from his truck - it was the horizontal support piece - not the top piece. I asked him if he was going to replace the top piece and he said "yes." While he started to work, I went off do to something. I came back and I looked at the top piece and I could see that it was the same piece of metal. I could tell because of some marks that had been on it. He said he could not get a new piece, they didn't make them anymore; so he just straightened the existing piece "as best he could." That was the first time he told me he was not putting on a new piece of metal on the top. I watched Mr. Bell put on the support piece. He was eye-balling it and it was uneven. So, I told him it was uneven. He asked me if the right side needed to go up or down and I said down. He asked me by how much and I said I didn't know, I would have to measure it. So, he went and got a metal measuring tape and removed the bolts he had already driven into the metal and started measuring where to bolt the bar onto the door. It was nearly even. He adjusted the motor so it would not close so firmly. The door does operate more quietly and more smoothly. Mr. Bell straightened out another part of the wheel slides which was damaged (does not impact performance). I paid the $206. He suggested that the women in the office would send me an invoice and I said okay. He left. The next time I left my garage. I noticed from the outside that when the door is closed, there is now up to about a 1/2 inch gap between the door and the molding (or rubber casing) around the door for nearly the entire length of the top of the door. There is no "seal." That gap was not there before Mr. Bell worked on the door. Now, there is less protection against cold wind and insects and people. A few days later, I got the invoice. According to the invoice, the $206 I paid was for "Service call/ labor, Installed new strut, adjusted springs, and lube & oil door." Mr. Bell had to disengage the springs to work on the door. It seems that adjusting them is part of reconnecting the door. I paid for the "lube and oil" after the original service call in August. It appears to me that the invoice I received was designed to justify the full cost of the job that should have been less because the actual work performed did not include a second new piece of metal. Because the top piece of metal was not replaced the repair is a much shorter-term repair. |The dishonesty about the top piece of metal, the sloppy installation of the horizontal bar and the new gap at the top of the door outweigh the improved performance of the door. That is why the overall/quality grades are a D. |

It could not have gone better. Brandon arrived on time and did the job and even replaced the light bulbs in my garage door opener. My door was not closing the first time and it would just go back up. Brandon waved his magic wand and viola! - works like new. The cranky, creaking ole thing has been given a breath of new life. It's just as quiet as can be. I am extremely happy. Thank you, Bell and Bell.
