After 12 years of using Dominion we are very disappointed in the professionalism of their billing department (the technicians have always been very professional BTW). We had a misunderstanding on invoicing and instead of trying to please the customer, he was most interested in being right. (he's never heard "the customer is always right", even when they aren't) Well being right cost them a previously loyal customer. They state on their website "we believe that our customers are the life of our business". Maybe the technicians feel that way, but sadly the billing department certainly doesn't.

This company came to my home to address an ant problem. A representative put out treatment to kill the ants. When it came time to pay for the service he told me that I could pay the one time fee, or pay double and the double fee would cover one year of return visits if the ant problem returned. I agreed to pay double for the one year of coverage. He pulled out a personal device, a smart phone I believe, and had me sign a receipt with my finger. He left that day. A few months later I received an email with less than a 24 hour notice that the company would be coming to my home to give it a treatment. I called them right away to tell them I would not be home and did not request, or require this treatment, the person on the phone said this was "included" with my plan and didn't have to be home. After they came out to the house they sent a bill. When I called to dispute the bill they said I would have to talk with the manager, whom was not available. He called me next day and left a message stating he had a contract for a year of service for three times the price of the original service. I returned his call he was again not available, I left message stating that was certainly NOT what I had been told, the price he mentioned was never mentioned to me, there was a mistake. He never called back. Ninety days later I get an email that the company will be sending me to collections for bill amount. To avoid collections I paid that invoice. Within 24hours, and again with less than a 24 hour notice they send an email stating they will be coming to my home again, for another such treatment. I again call and complain that this is the third time I have called to dispute this service and they are not willing to do anything about the fact that I disputed the contract validity based on the words spoken to me by their representative. I was told again that they have a signed contract from me and they can enforce the treatments. Bait and switch scam, verbally sell a service for double the price of the original call, stating it's like an insurance for a year, then switch representatives to a manager that is never available when you call. They threaten me that they have a legal contract for three times the price and they will continue to bill me regardless of what I was told, send me to collections if I don't pay, and even added snark on the phone "don't you read contracts you sign?" Well no, not when they are presented as receipts for service on an iPhone and signed with a finger. I cannot imagine what kind of business would rather threaten a contract on a customer than make amends and appease the original complaint. It's not like I didn't pay in full for the services that were rendered and I am trying to get over on them. They are not interested in business, but instead making quick dollars.

Description of Work: We switched to Dominion Pest control after being terribly disappointed with Terminix. Even though we had been with Terminix for 5 years, we got rats in the crawl space, and Terminix let it get worse and worse. I noticed evidence of rats in my home and contacted Dominion Pest Control. They were very clear explaining their services and were able to schedule the initial inspection within a couple of days. The technician, Chris, was prompt. He did a thorough inspection of possible entry points. He answered all of my many questions. He returned in a week to inspect traps and to repair the most likely entry points in the 1 hour of time which comes with the inspection. I decided to have all of the repairs made, which was scheduled about a week later. The bid price seemed a bit high for the amount of time it took to do the repairs. So far, no more rats.

The office team did a good job of quickly scheduling the work, which we very much appreciated! Chris (?), our technician, arrived on time and completed the work within the time frame promised, impressive given the day's cold, misty weather. Happily, we have not heard any rodents in the attic space since the work was completed. The technician used stainless steel wool, steel wire, and nails to patch the gap formed by the chimney pulling away from the house, as well as in the areas where the were gaps where the roof joined the house. While the patches are effective, the polished silver mesh and nail heads are visible and rather unsightly on our dark brown house. Prior to doing the repairs, we did discuss how the holes would be repaired, however, we didn't fully discuss what the finished work would look like so that we could then have discussed options/next steps for making sure the repairs were less visible. We have had a service contract with Dominion for several years, and have been very satisfied with their responsiveness, professionalism, and overall quality of work. Despite our feelings about how the the last job looked, we will still continue to work with Dominion.

I will start off by saying that I am sorry that I feel I have to write this review. This company came highly recommended to me. However, I have never felt so disrespected by a service provider and I certainly hope that I will not again. We purchased our home knowing from the inspection that we had rats in our crawlspace. We hired Dominion on a yearlong contract to deal with the rats and also ants that show up occasionally. They came out and did a very thorough job analyzing our house, potential entry points and then provided a bid to fix all of these problems. I will praise the company for the work they did here. That bid was $20k about half of which was to pour concrete in the crawlspace as the rats were burrowing. We did what any reasonable homeowner would do in that situation- we called around for additional bids. We had another company come and pour the concrete for about $2500. I of course acknowledged openly that this did not include all the work that had been recommended by Dominion, but it made perfect sense to have this portion of the work done by another company for substantial savings. The next time the company came out, the technician was rude and aggressive with me. Stating that the work that was done by the other company was “worthless” (which it was not as the dirt needed covered by concrete). I tried on several occasions to discuss the current situation with this technician, but he was so aggressive and unfriendly that it was impossible to have a real conversation about how to move forward from that point. I was perfectly ready and willing to pay the company to do more work, but the conversations were terse. I finally got somewhat of a “plan” from the technician, only after I asked very specific prodding questions. I inquired about pricing for the plan moving forward and he basically stated that I would have to pay the “initial inspection” fee again in order to get pricing for a plan moving forward. I decided that I would call the company and request to work with a different technician because our working relationship was so poor and I did not want to deal with what I perceived as aggression from this individual. I called the company and spoke with the manager. The manager basically refused to hear what I was saying. He asked if he could get the technician on the line to “defend himself” against my allegations. I stated that I did not want to speak with him because my main allegation was that I felt he was rude and aggressive. The manager stated that since I would not speak to him directly that he “wasn’t going to believe anything I was saying” and basically said several times that I was lying. I was tried to tell him several times about what had occurred and he interrupted me to go on and on with an inaccurate analogy about “if a mechanic says your car needs fixed and then you go have another mechanic fix it, you can’t go back to the first mechanic and ask why it’s not fixed right.” That analogy of course was not accurate for the situation because I was openly acknowledging that more work needed done and I was asking for their company’s professional opinion on how to move forward from that point. I never even got to suggest that I just wanted a different technician because he never took the time to listen to my actual concerns, but instead was equally as aggressive as his technician. I had to then pay $100 as that was my “discount” for signing up for the whole year. I should have also received an Angie’s list discount, but I was too angry at the time to argue. To top it all off, about 6 weeks later, I got a call from their scheduler to set up my next quarterly check. They didn’t even have it together enough to remove me from their call list- despite having paid $100 to never have to deal with them again. Don’t hire Dominion if you want to be treated with respect.
