We are a Granite & Marble slab fabricator and installer that is locally family-owned and operated. We do all of our own work from our showroom in Puyallup and our fabrication shop in Tacoma. We provide the best customer service and quality around. Our customers hand select every slab through a wholesaler of their choice. This ensures that each customer gets the actual material they want vs. having to buy what what might be available through a competitor. We also bid per slab, not square footage. This ensures that you will get the very best look for your project, rather than piecing remnants together to complete the job.
We are a custom fabricator, and never use pre-made material from China. We also have a selection of remnants to choose from for bathroom vanities or small jobs. The material is free. You simply pay for fabrication and installation.
Our showroom offers one-stop shopping to take the hassle out of remodeling, and we have numerous top-notch, experienced contractors who we trust enough to recommend to our customers.
Orca works with Royal Cabinets, a custom cabinet company, also in Puyallup, and a local hardwood flooring company. In addition, we have plumber and tile-setter to help customers complete their project.
Our estimates are always free, we service all of Western Washington. No job is too small and we have lots of great referrals.
Description of Work: Excellent service, from salesperson to the installers. High quality product and work at a quite reasonable price.

Description of Work: Orca made and installed granite counter tops for our expanded kitchen and dining room. We interacted with most of the company in the process. Hoyt, Danielle, Corrine, Stephanie, and the guys in the shop were all friendly and fun. Everyone there is knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. They guided us through the selection process, explaining that each slab has its own "personality" and encouraging us to keep looking until we found the ones that "spoke to us". Once we found that talkative stone, they did a great job in cutting and joining it to best use the natural patterns to good effect. They did get a little behind schedule due to being in high demand, but communicated with us about that as well as could be expected. There was also an accident on the way to the job site (not their fault) that resulted in our large island and another piece getting broken. They were very responsive and got the replacement material the same day, and fit the work on the schedule within days. The counters are all in now, and look amazing. We are very happy with the result. I also like that they are a local family-owned and -operated business.

Description of Work: Cannot say enough good things about Orca. They were very fast very reasonable on price and extremely responsive. I worked with Taylor who was incredibly responsive to my requests and wonderful about scheduling and explaining the process. I had tried to other granite shops Who were none of the above completely unresponsive impossible to get a hold of never returning phone calls. We ended up paying a little extra to have a template done I would highly recommend Getting a template done, very good for husband and wife negotiating with a third-party mediator!

The representative I spoke with on the phone explained in detail what to expect from the stain proof sealer they used and provided information on the warranty. I received a written quote within two hours and the work was scheduled approximately two weeks later. We received a confirming call the morning of our appointment. The technicians arrived promptly as scheduled and got right to work. They thoroughly explained the process to us as they worked. It took them about two hours to complete the job. Before they left, the technicians instructed us on how to care for the treated countertops and tile. We received the manufacturer's warranty certificate two weeks later. It has been approximately eight weeks since the project was completed and we are pleased with the look and performance of the sealer.

Description of Work: I called several companies to find out whether I could install an under the counter sink where I already had an over the counter sink. Orca was the only one who said they would come out and do the measurements after my new sink was delivered. It turned out that it couldn't be installed under counter but I was very pleased that he was willing to take the time to come to my home and was very professional. I will call him first if I need any other work done on my granite counters.

I was forced to find a new cabinet maker because we kept getting our production date pushed back. We found a great one in Royal Cabinets and they turned us onto Orca. These folks do what they say they will, and went the extra mile by meeting us on a Saturday morning to pick out stone at the Seattle warehouse. The install went flawless and the granite looked great when finished. They even had someone available to set the range and dishwasher as well as plumb the new sink and fixtures. Almost a week later and no issues. Home remodels are painful and they made it easy. My neighbors are all impressed with the work done and how smooth it went. Within 3 weeks of deciding the final final design, all installation was finished. That alone was very valuable. Use them, they are worth it.
Description of Work: Orca (Hoyt) met us to pick out the correct granite. He then came by after the cabinets were installed and made a template. Then a week later his crew installed the countertops and set the appliances. This was all done on schedule and within budget.

This company gets an A++ for communication, customer service and performance. We ran into the usual remodeling problems - the orca granite team was wonderful in working with us through all the changes. I especially appreciated that the owner, Hoyt, met us out at the granite warehouse and walked us through the process of selecting our pieces- and absolutely followed through on everything. All the work was perfection and on time! The office manager, Sierra, was excellent in keeping us on track and making sure we were all on the same page. Very easy to work with. I highly recommend this company- they are thorough and professional from start to finish.

The granite sealing, leveling and grouting went just fine. They had to come back and re-grout the sink using a different product. They said that the sealing chemical was not compatible with the type of sink seal that they initially applied. They fixed that, and everything is just fine now. I know that they have had some staffing problems, but I believe everything is better now. I'd use them again.
Description of Work: Orca did a 15 year seal on my granite counter tops. They also leveled a spot where two granite slabs came together, and re-grouted that spot. They also sealed the seam between the sink and the granite.

Overall, it was a challenge to purchase the granite. I would encourage anybody who deals with Orca to delay giving them a deposit until all the details have been checked and rechecked. It is very difficult to get to anyone who can inform and counsel you while you are making decisions once the first payment is made. A customer with Orca has to be constantly on guard. I will say without hesitation, that if you can get past smoke and mirrors billing, a leap of faith in your product selection , and mediocre customer service; the final product will be cut and installed nearly perfect. My only regret is that I didn't push harder for a more decorative edge (Hoyt will steer you toward his standard edge). That said, their standard edge is functional and OK.
Description of Work: First, I'd like to thank Angie's List for the opportunity to post a review of this company. They provided a format that could be used and I'll integrate in this review. Second, this company came highly recommended by Mountain Homes and Creation Cabinets. This company was used to explore the various countertops and was limited to choosing between quartz and granite. We picked granite. Following some field work we receive a total of four different quotes from Gary who we assumed was an executive with the company. The first tree estimates clearly stated the price was for two slabs of granite. We found one slab that would nicely fit in our application so I called Gary and told him that two slabs weren't needed. Instead of decreasing the price, the price went up $960 for a granite upgrade. His answer was the two slab price was a computer error and should always have been one slab. This of course threw up a red flag. We then went to the shop to meet with Hoyt to chose a granite piece for a bathroom off of the kitchen. While there were several slabs (at least 30) only seven were available for viewing by the way they were stored. We picked one of the seven. I then asked if the slab we picked out in a Seattle warehouse was in the shop to which he replied yes. So I asked him if I could see it and the answer was no. So still today, I'm not completely sure I got the granite we picked out in Seattle. The installation was done on schedule and in a most professional way. Considering the task, the crew of 4 did a remarkable job of not damaging the granite or the house. We paid for $249 for a lifetime finish. It involved registering the product. As luck would have it, Hoyt lost our final payment. Only after we were deliberately slow (about 10 days slow) in issuing a second check did the paperwork, which was filled out completely wrong, show up. I have nothing to compare their workmanship to but I must say it appeared flawless. Chase the template creator did an outstanding job of gauging the size and corners.

We appreciate the feedback and the opportunity to improve our business. We would first like to apologize for the issues while trying to communicate with us and the confusion from receiving multiple estimates. We faced many challenges at the time, as were unfortunately transitioning between office managers. However, we always use the granite the customer selected, and we would never substitute another material without approval. Customers are welcome to be involved every step of the process, such as viewing material before cutting to approve which parts of the granite they want to be used. Also, we may suggest an edge finish style but the final decision is up to the customer. We are sorry to hear that you felt that your preference was not accounted for. We also apologize for the challenges during the project, and will continue working to prevent problems such as yours from occurring again. It is nice to hear that everything was "flawless" after install and the final product was satisfactory.

I contacted Orca about sealing our guest bathroom vanity which is granite as we'll be using this bathroom pretty extensively here soon as we renovate our master bathroom. Gary offered me a couple options on the phone and I selected to do the 15 year warranteed sealer they do. This was scheduled within a couple weeks as I was not in a hurry just wanted it done before Christmas and the gentleman came on time and was very considerate to keep the vent fan on and to do what he could to keep fumes out of the house as he did the process that took about 60 minutes or so. After he was done he also caulked the sink which was a very nice thing to do as well. The granite even feels smoother and the water beads up on it now much more so than it did before. After Gary got my check which I sent with the worker he e-mailed me the warranty which I kept electronically as well as printed a copy to keep with the vanity. I definitely think if you have granite or other porous surfaces it is a great service and highly recommend Orca.

I had a very positive experience with this company, they care about doing a quality job. I got an estimate and then after I decided to go with it I met Hoyt (owner) at a granite slab place in Puyallup. We looked at the actual slabs that could be used and I ended up selecting one that was about $300 more than my estimate (there were a lot of choices in the entry level slabs that were included, I just really loved this one for the room it was going into). Next Hoyt came out to measure more completely than in the estimate, and I provided him with the undermount sink I had gotten (so they could cut the right hole). Also, Hoyt told me that he had a piece of leftover granite that was like the nicer area on my slab that we could use in this project if I wanted. I drove down to their shop in Parkland to see it and it was just beautiful, so Hoyt used that for the island and the nicer parts of the slab I had selected for the counters. This man really cares about helping his customers get the best possible results. The shop cut and polished the counters and then they arrived as scheduled the next week to rip out the tile and install the granite. They had to problem solve some as they went as the installation of the existing cabinets was rather wonky, they took the time to do it right all the way through. They there from 9 am to 3 pm and then the job was done. They had their plumber come and hook up the new sink. Everything looks absolutely amazing! As soon as budget allows I do plan to have them do a bathroom vanity or two- there is a lot of gorgeous rock around there shop and they can fabricate it to fit my needs.

This provider was recommended by by the cabinet company we used on our remodel. The sales staff immediately got us in touch with Dani (daughter of the owner) to help us select our granite. She reviewed the layout of our kitchen and let us know that it was a large job and would likely need four slabs. With this in mind, she asked about our budget and worked to stay within it. She helped us select the perfect style and pieced together coordinating pieces so that there was consistency in the movement in the stone. We worked with her on our cabinet installation date so that after the cabinets were installed, she created a custom pattern for the granite to be cut to. A couple days later, the counters were installed. In one area, the granite was warped. The installer had years of experience and was able to field fit the piece. The seaming on the pieces are almost impercievable. They also installed the undermount sink, drilled the holes for the faucet on site. They wiped down the counters when they left and checked in later to make sure we were happy with the installation. The work was completed quickly.

From my initial contact to the final install everyone I came in contact with was courteous and VERY professional, not pushy. Pricing was very competitive with everyone else out there. I think I got 3-4 estimates total. They accompanied me to pick out the granite slab. The first slab was rejected because they caught a large scratch they would not have been able to work around. We picked the second slab and I LOVE it. Templating was extremely thorough and well thought out. When they came to install, the first things they brought in were their own garbage can and shop vac. They were very neat, organized and again thorough. Fabrication is amazing. The edges are all VERY smooth and professional and the shine is great. See photos. Orca provides the old-fashioned kind of service we would like to expect to receive, but seldom do these days.I highly recommend Orca Granite. Great job, Hoyt, Danielle, Gary, Chase, Jake and Mark! Oh, and Norma it was lovely to meet you, too. I only wish they could also do my electrical, cabinet refacing and tile work!
