We responded to an Angie's add we received via email. We were considering removing a large fir tree from our home. Northwest Tree Surgeons was one of the companies featured in the Angi advertisement. We decided we’d get an estimate of what it might cost to have the tree removed, so she let Angi’s List know we were interested. Northwest Tree Service contacted my wife about a week later and they agreed to come take a look at what we wanted done. Only my wife was home when they came. They provided the requested estimate and asked my wife to sign the estimate, which she did. She told them she would talk with me (her husband) about the proposed work and get back to them if we wanted to proceed. Ezra, the estimator, said this would be fine. He left. At no point in their interaction was anything said or implied, either by my wife or by Ezra, the estimator, that would suggest that we wanted anything more at that time than an estimate for us to consider. The word "contract" never came up. Nothing was said or implied that would suggest that Ezra was there for anything more than to give her the requested estimate. That evening my wife and I talked about it and we decided that the $4,380+ to remove the one tree was more than we wanted to spend at this time so we decided to not pursue this further. One week later my wife was contacted by Ezra, with NW Tree Surgeons to schedule a time for them to remove the tree. She explained to them that we had decided that we were not going to do anything at this time and then she thanked them for their estimate. At that point things quickly turned ugly. Ezra then told her that she had already agreed to do the work. He said she had signed a binding contract and that she could not get out of it, except by paying them 25% of the estimate given. She was told that they would sue her if she did not agree to have them come do the work. She was shocked by this attack, and told them that she had only requested an estimate and had not knowingly agreed to have them do any work at all. She asked to speak with Ezra’s boss. The owner of the company, Moses, then came on the phone and his response to her was “read the last line on the paper”. The final line, in the small print at the bottom of their estimate form reads, "Signatures below will constitute a binding contract". These are the last seven words in the small print. However, the “large print” across the top of the page, in huge font, clearly identifies this form as an "Estimate..." Nowhere in this entire document is the word "contract" used, until the very last word in the very small print at the very bottom of the page. My wife explained that she had not intended to sign a contract for the work to be done. She thought that her signature was simply acknowledging receipt of the requested estimate. Their response was that what she had signed was actually a binding contract and she needed to pay them. When she replied that their treatment of her was absolutely deceptive and manipulative, their response was again, "you signed a binding contract and you need to pay us." It was certainly no coincidence that they did not get back to my wife until a week after they had provided the estimate. In Washington state a signatory has three days after signing a contract to back out. They obviously knew this so they waited until that period had passed. I would caution everyone to be careful with this company. They obviously lack integrity. No work has yet been done. This did not need to escalate to this point. It would have been so simple for them to apologize for the misunderstanding and to thank my wife for her time and move on. Instead, they chose to forcefully and blatantly attempt to intimidate my wife. This is incredibly unprofessional business practice. It’s not like the work has been done and we are refusing to pay them. Nothing has been done and yet they are trying to enforce a “contract” that they obtained under deceptive means. Steer clear of this company or you’ll regret it.

They did an excellent job, were very reasonable with their price and were very kind. They even honored the same price they quoted us a year ago. We would highly recommend them to anyone.

One tree is close to a power line so they decided to walk away from the job. They did not provide any service for me. They were just supposed to cut down the trees, no clean up. They did not touch the four trees because of that one tree. They were scheduled to work for me. They also told me to take down the fence because that would be a problem, so I did. And now, they did not provide the work. I had the fence scheduled to be reinstalled the following week and to reschedule that would take two months and that's not going to work for me because I have 2 dogs.

Excellent. I am very picky about who I hire. The owner Moises Nunez actually climbed up in the tree and helped to the work. These guys are pros. Outstanding job. They cleaned up very well and I was very happy. In fact, I am hiring them again for big job to remove two giant trees (a fir and a gargantuan Hemlock). I will submit a different review after that job is done. I am sure it will be just as awesome.

Moises and his crew KICK ***. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They work hard, prompt, finish on time at a fair and reasonable price. This is the 2nd time I have hired them. They are who I will forever hire now regarding tree work. I love a company where the owner is not just a salesman but gets his hands dirty with the crew. Moises is that kind of KICK *** boss who sweats with his crew. Hard worker who has earned my respect.

Excellent! They were on time, got the job done professionally and finished a day earlier than expected, even in 90+ heat! Our neighbors removed the trees because they were taking over our yard, so we called and had them come out and give a quote. They even cleaned up the debris from our yard. Would highly recommend.
