The company is outstanding, Jon's crew showed on time as scheduled and the craftsmanship was nothing short of outstanding.

Overall I have to say the work that was done was simply outstanding. We initially met with Jon and we talked about the work to be done, when, and what was included. Jon was on time to our appointment and was very knowledgeable about what what we needed. The bid that was provided was also very detailed regarding the services to be provided and the dates we had agreed upon. On the first day of the work, Ray and another crew member showed up to do the work. The crew showed up at the time we had agreed to. Ray addressed any further questions we had and then started working. The finished product is simply outstanding. The floors were in bad shape after nearly 30 years of kids, dogs, family gatherings, etc... The floors look new. When the job was finished the house was left clean, everything was picked up, baseboards installed and appliances were back in the kitchen. The dustless system the company uses is a great product as well. In terms of any additional clean up after the floors were done, there was nothing to be done on our part. We would use this company again.

Working with Jon, the owner, was a very pleasant experience! He is a genuinely nice guy, who is honest and available all the way through the job. They were able to start fairly soon after our initial meeting. They arrived on time. Machine broke the first day and not much work was accomplished. Although, the next day, they arrived with a machine that worked and the job went really smoothly from there on out. We are very happy with the results and would refer them to our friends, which we have already done. His employees are good at what they do. Two of them really stood out and were outstanding! They were not only good at what they did, but friendly with us and always available to answer questions! Anyway....you won't be sorry if you use this business!

The interlacing between the old and the new wood was seamless you could not see a difference. We really like the dark stain a nice change from the natural we had for many years. Installed hardware flooring while we were on vacation. Floors were even more beautiful than I had anticipated. Jon the owner was very much a perfectionist and made sure every detail was completed.

This is the second time we have used MaxCare. We had them come back to install a beech hardwood floor in our family room including a curved fireplace hearth surround that has a Brazilian cherry feature strip in the center. It is so gorgeous! They also sanded and refinished our existing entry/hall/kitchen hardwood floor so that all the floor had the same finish. We were very pleased with their work and with the responsiveness of the owner, Jon.

We have a floating bamboo flooring in our Big Room and Dining room. It was installed about a year ago. I did not want to put it in my kitchen and dinette. My husband talked me into it so we went to buy more of the product from Costco. Costco stopped selling it! I was able to contact the company and got the last of their stored supply. I needed someone to come and put the floor in and blend it with the already existing bamboo. The installer I used before did OK but was really messy and in a hurry to get done. He brought along a "training" assistant to help out. It was not a good experience. I wanted someone good so I read all the Angie list reviews and called Maxcare to see if they could help us. I called Jon and he came out promptly to look at the situation. He knew just what to do. I scheduled him and he got out 4 days later. We wanted the floor done for the holidays. The workers are amazing. They are very clean and precise with their work. The house had just been painted including the cabinets so I was nervous. They went to great lengths to keep my new paint as it was. They have a vacuum system that removes the dust as they go. The guys tore out the floor and vacuumed as they went. They system is truck mounted. The front door needed to be open so I turned down the heat. The workers are very polite and tried to make sure I was able to get my dogs out to potty. The dinette leads to the backyard. I'm very pleased with this company and would suggest them to those who need hardwood or bamboo flooring installed.

They supplied a through explanation of the process, the costs and what we could do ourselves to reduce costs. They were professional, on time did beautiful work and finished ahead of schedule and dust free is just that they were awesome from beginning to end.

We could not be happier with the product and customer service of MaxCare. We chose them based mainly on the product they offered, namely a customized installation plan with attention to detail and the type of finish they offered. We were looking for a highly durable, yet waterborne finish as opposed to the "standard" Swedish oil based finish. Two other estimates that we got offered a water based finish but with only a lower level of protection. MaxCare was the only company offering this commercial grade two part finish. When getting the estimate, MaxCare did not push one type of finish versus the other, they simply explained the options in a clear manner and helped us determine the best choice for our application. MaxCare's pricing was very competetive. The craftsmen who worked on our project were all very friendly, courteous and professional. They respected our home and clearly took pride in their work. Whenever a decision had to be made, they discussed it thoroughly with us so as to understand our preferences. There was a glitch on the first day of installation. The original plan was to simply refinish the existing hardwoods in the kitchen and washroom and weave in the new hardwood in the adjoining dining and living rooms so that it all flowed together and looked original. The problem was that MaxCare mistakenly identified our existing hardwood as Yellow Oak, so Yellow Oak was ordered for the new sections. On the first day of installation, it was discovered that our existing floors were White Oak, so they would not look the same when finished and we wouldn't have a seamless installation. Jon Engels showed a high level of integrity and admitted his mistake, and made it right by removing all the existing White Oak floors, purchasing additional Yellow Oak flooring and making the entire job brand new flooring. This added about an extra half day of work. Jon got extra workers to help on the install and kept us on schedule. And he did not charge us one penny extra for any of this. The 100% Dust Containment system worked better than I expected. In my mind nothing is 100% but there system kept adjoining rooms 100% free of dust and in the rooms that were actually sanded, the only detectable dust was an extremely fine layer on the kitchen counter that I was hardly visible without close inspection. The finish left a very light odor which was gone after the first day back at home with the windows open. To top it all off, they offered to help us move our heavy appliances back into the kitchen so as not to scratch the new floors. They also provided us with many helpful hints about how to car for our floors.

Their work is absolutely stunning. There was a problem what they did not calculate the amount of wood correctly and underestimated the work. However they corrected it and did not charge us extra. Maxcare has been very responsive to any of our concerns and did not want to take the final payment until we were 100% satisfied. I recommend Maxcare to everyone.

Our refrigerator?s water valve leaked, but we didn?t realize it until we noticed that the hardwood flooring underneath had warped. After we had the valve replaced, we began the search for a company to replace the warped boards. We chose MAXCARE Hardwood Floors primarily because of information from Angie's List: Previous customers had provided positive reviews. I double-checked that the company's licensing was current and that there were no negative reports on the BBB site. The company advertises that they use a 100% Dust Free Refinishing System, and this claim appealed to us. We called Jon Engels, one of the company principals, who came to the house and provided a detailed description of the work that would be required. Because the wood flooring covers half of the main level of the house, all of it would have to be sanded and refinished so that it would match the boards that needed to be replaced. After we reviewed Jon?s cost estimate, we scheduled the work. MAXCARE?s refinishing system lived up to its name. It truly was dust free. There was no sanding residue that we could see on the floor, countertops, or the furniture. Jon?s crew was very knowledgeable and professional. It was obvious to us that they knew their stuff and, most importantly, cared about the quality of their work. Ray, Josh, and David explained exactly what they were doing at each step of the project and let us know that they were working to make sure that we were satisfied with the results. We are more than satisfied. Our floor looks fabulous. With the new stain and finish, the whole floor looks brand new, and there is no visible difference between the replacement boards and the existing flooring. We would definitely recommend MAXCARE Hardwood Floors as a company that provides what they advertise: An unparalleled level of quality craftsmanship and service. We would not hesitate to use them again or to provide references.

We saw MaxCare Hardwood at the Tacoma Home & RV show and had a nice discussion with their Operations Manager. We verified the business with WA State L & I to be sure of bonding, claims etc and also a look into the BBB. Appointment for estimate was made and Jon arrived at our house per schedule. As mentioned in another comment, there wasn't any flair to his visit - just a nice pleasant sit down and discussion to get a feel for what we wanted. He talked about wood options, explained finishes, staining and the dust free system they use, how the project would unfold etc and made the measurements. A not insignificant consideration is the dust-free method MaxCare uses in sanding the floor. A few days later we received a very comprehensive bid with detailed breakdown of costs. There was one error on the bid -we have a single step down and two risers to a family room and it had two steps and three risers- which was promptly corrected and a revised bid e-mailed. We made an initial deposit to get the project on the books and then another payment of approx 50% which got the wood delivered in advance so it could be climatized. Installation of the floor was done in a matter of 2 days or so an then another 2+ for the sanding, staining, finishing etc. The sanding system has a vacuum hose connected to it. All the components of the system are in the truck - motor, recovery drum etc so there was zero sanding dust in the house. Amazing. Everything was on time, on schedule and communicated clearly (even with the snow debacle changing plans). The installers were professional, considerate and happy to answer questions and explain things. Since we were unsure of the exact staining color, the installer connected three spare boards to make a mini-floor. Based on some discussion of what we wanted he made side by side samples across the three boards (because varying grains take the stain differently) of what he thought we'd like. He also applied the finish so we could see how it would look. He was patient in telling us how it would darken over time etc and explained some thing to consider when selecting a stain. Turned out we went with a clear stain and the Swedish finish. I tend to be very picky about detail and am very happy with how it turned out. Definitely recommend and would certainly use them again.

Maxcare Hardwoods refinished our 12 year old Oak floor that had been poorly installed and finished by the original sub contractor. As promised by Jon, the Owner of Maxcare, the results would be (and were) what we had originally hoped for!!! The original installer had used a water based finished that quickly wore away plus left large gaps in the wood at the edges of the room that were too wide for the baseboard. Maxcare sanded the floor, replaced damaged pieces, and refinished the floor with 3 coats of Swedish finish bringing out a the color in our floor that we had never seen before, even when the floor was new!!! They were also able to replace the baseboard and skillfully cover the gaps ( included in the cost above). We are very pleased with the results and will use Maxcare again for our flooring needs. Special note: The weather was terrible (rain and high winds) during the scheduled time but the workmen showed up as scheduled and even worked well into the early morning hours (due to the remote location and commute time) to complete the job on time. Upon completion of the job, they (Maxcare) were unhappy with the results in one room so they started over and completely refinished the one room, again working well beyond the original expectations. Our experience is that Maxcare Hardwoods is honest, trustworthy, skilled and dedicated to professional results.
