Jim provided us with a detailed written proposal. Once the project started, they were on time and completed the work as promised. Their attention to detail and professional care were exceptional. We would definitely use JRV Painting Company again!

I got 5 bids to do the work. JRV Painting was the highest by a few dollars. I picked JVR because of the positive reports on Angie's list. I had to wait a while because they were busy. The pressure washing was done in one day, and three days later, the house was painted in two days. It went fast. They were very professional and did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

Jim, the owner of the painting company, responded promplty to my requst for an estimate. I had recieved two other bids and Jim's was the best, in my estimation. This was in mid-June and he advised that he was quite busy and that it would be about six weeks before he would be able to do my house. Just at the end of the six weeks, he called and said he would be able to paint my house the following week. On the Saturday before he was going to paint the house, he came and did a thorough power washing of the whole house. When he came to do the painting, he had his wife and two other painters with him. They prepped and primed several areas that needed it and proceded with the painting. While one painter sprayed the first coat, Jim backrolled the paint. The others worked on the trim paint. Later that day, they sprayed a second coat on the main structure. The second day, they came and finished the trim paint and corrected a few missed and overpaint errors. About three weeks after the job was done, I noticed some bubbling on some of the trim work near the entry to my house. I called and told Jim about them. He came within two days and immediately scraped and re-prepped the area. The next day he returned and repainted it. I am extremely pleased with the final results and I would definitely have him do other painting jobs for me.

Requested and scheduled to receive an estimate on work to be performed and never heard from them. Very poor customer service.

JRV was very easy to work with, did great work, and always punctual and responsive. When I called for an estimate, they responded quickly and I did not have to rearrange my schedule to be present. They emailed their estimate within a week. It was detailed and accurate and was accompanied by a long reference list and information about their company. I was busy getting estimates from competitors and trying to decide on my color choice, so it wasn't until much later in the summer that I hired them. They had several other jobs to finish before getting to me, but they were able to work on my home before the rainy season started. When they began painting, they asked if I was sure it was the color I wanted. It looked much different than I imagined it would and I had great difficulty deciding what to do. Jim and his crew were very patient, did not seem exasperated or irritated, and helped me come to a decision. This really made me glad I had chosen their team. I decided the Lowe's version of my color for the trim was more complimentary to my home than what Parker had matched. He was willing to use the Lowe's even though they normally use Parker due to it's higher quality. The Parker match for my door color was much better than the Lowe's so we stayed with the Parker for that. The work was done professionally and quickly. They were easy to communicate with and were very patient with my young child running around. Unfortunately, a fold in the paper used to tape off and keep the door open got stuck to it and ruined a spot. They said they could probably come back the next day to sand and touch it up. But then later after they left, I accidentally kicked the door and left another bad spot. I wanted to kick myself, but hoped they could sand and touch up that spot as well. They next day, after examining their work I also showed them a few small places where the crew had forgotten to put on the second coat, as well as a couple drip spots. They said they would not be able to fix the door and the missed spots that day because they already had a job they needed to finish, but would come back to do it later. They asked for the full payment at the time and I gave it, but later I wondered if it was the best choice. As it was already September so there were very few warm sunny days left. They said they would try to come out the next day that wasn't cold and rainy, but if they couldn't, they would have to come back next summer. They were not able to make it and so I waited until the next summer, not sure what to expect. The next summer I called maybe 3 times and each time I always got a call back, but was not immediately given a date to expect them. The week after the 3rd call, they finally called me one morning and offered to come over that very day. Luckily, I did not have anything important scheduled and cleared my day. They apologized for taking so long and then completely repainted the entire door as well as finishing all the touch ups needed. They had a very positive attitude and did a great job. I love the paint on my house and thanks for coming back JRV! This job began Sept 2011 and was finished July 2012.

We were most impressed with their very careful prep work. The paint job is absolutely perfect. They were very careful with our property ( not mangling plants, cleaning up). We will definitely have them when we need interior painting. They came when they said they would and stuck with the job until it was finished. They're great to work with, and they're just very nice people who take pride in doing an excellent job.

Very professional, and nice people, my wife wanted to add another color as an acient, not charge, Jim also repaied broken tiles on the hoase. team of 4 people, again very nice and down to earth and professional. if you hire them you will be overly satisfied with the job they do.

Jim and Bonnie Venn were great to work with. We had established a target to get our house painted before we had guests arrive from out of town. The weather was not cooperation and they were behind schedule, but they worked through the entire weekend and completed the job. It meant a lot to us. They assisted in picking an accent color for our doors and provided some ideas for how to address some of our ongoing paint issues on our deck. They even called back a couple of weeks later to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction.

Jim Venn came out to give me an estimate on my home and shop in late March of 2012.I suggested having him paint after the fourth of July and he agreed to aim for that time period.He had a friendly manner about him from the very beginning and was open to my choices of paint brand and went over all the details. This is important for a contractor to be friendly and communicative and he met those expectations and then some.When Jim and his wife Bonnie, and the rest of the crew showed up to do the job, I was very pleased with the quality of prep work as well as the actual paint job. They were all friendly and freely answered any further questions I had, and kept me informed on the schedule of the job. My neighbors, brother in law, and my "odd job" handyman who showed up in subsequent days all agreed what a nice job JRV painting did on my house. I would not hesitate to call on them for any future painting needs.

Received the detailed proposal in March 2012, but work was delayed until July due to unusually rainy weather. Jim's powerwashing skills returned the front porch and rear deck to near original appearance which was further enhanced by applying the semi-transparent stain. Jim also assisted with paint color samples to support decisions for major color scheme changes. Jim uncovered some hidden wood damage and was kind enough to work around the handyman as he made repairs. Very satisfied with the paint job.

So far not so good. Wish they would have wanted the work. We really need the painting done.

Our 102 year old Craftsman style home had not been painted since 1998. Jim and Bonnie came to our house and walked around the yard, making notes about what we wanted done and making additonal notes in areas requiring attention. We recieved an estimate that was well within our budget and set a date for work to begin. The weather in late May did not cooperate and Jim called us with updates.When the whole crew was here, Jim, Bonnie, Travis and Chris spread out, each person working on a specific area.Jim wasspot-on about helping us find the perfect colors. A correct trim paint and a deck stain for the front porch all blended together.They were in constant contact with us about the work and even did small repairs at little or no cost to us.We are very happy with the paint job on our house and highly recommend this company for all your painting needs. February 2013 After considerable renovation work, it was time to re-paint the bathroom. Jim came and looked over the work to be done. He even returned with paint color choices. After picking a date, Jim and Bonnie came, removed entry doors, drawers and cabinet doors, prepped and painted two entry ways and all cabinet areas. They returned the next day with repainted cabinet doors and finished the walls. Jim also replaced and installed 30 feet of floor edge moulding. The bathroom looks great. Everything is bright and new. Wintertime is indoor work and it looks as good as what they did outside. There will be more to do in the future and I know who I am going to call.

Jim came to look at the project I wanted done, was very professional and prompt when getting back to me. He fit me in the time frame I needed. Showed on time. Asked my opinion on what I wanted during the process. Great crew. I was extremely happy with JVC!

Jim and the whole crew did a fantastic job on painting the exterior of our house.. They listened to our needs and concerns. They provided samples of colors they thought we would be interested in. The quaility and workmanship was fantastic. They were all easy to talk to and get to know. You could tell right off the bat that they cared. I highly recommend this company for you painting needs.

Jim, his wife and co-worker did a bang-up, terrific job of painting the entire interior of our duplex rental unit. He went beyond the call of duty, offering to patch a couple fairly bad crack-holes in a bedroom door and closet folding doors, along with filling a bald patch on the ceiling and many, many holes and imperfections in the walls. My wife and I give our rave recommendation to anyone needing JRV's services.

I had started painting the interior of our house by myself, but the vaulted ceilings--especially above the stairway are a problem. There is a beam that runs the center of the ceiling that isn't painted (and shouldn't be painted) and reaching it with ladders is difficult. I called JRV Painting and Jim called back the same day. He came the next morning and looked at the areas we were painting. I asked specifically for bids that covered different areas, but mainly I was concerned about the stairway ceiling. Jim gave a bid of $850 for the ceiling and walls in that area. I calculated the cost of me falling from a ladder and the pain factor. His bid sounded more than fair. Jim also gave me bids for completing the unfinished painting that we had in the living and dining areas. All bids were in writing via email within a day of our meeting. I felt that I could do everything myself except for the stairway and accepted that bid. When Jim and his wife were here, we decided to have them do all of the vaulted ceilings (because they're such a pain in the neck). We supplied the paint and they were able to complete all the work in an 8 hour day. The extra ceiling work only cost $150. It was worth having them do the ceilings. They were very careful in covering anything that might get dripped on. The painted areas looked great. I had purchased the paint myself but needed more. Jim called the paint in on his account and I was able to save about $9.00 per gallon on the extra paint. I asked Jim what it would cost to paint the outside of my house and he gave a price that was about $3000 less than another bid I have had. I would definitely use JRV Painting again.

Contacted JRV Painting via Angie's List email functionality. They were prompt in responding to my inquiry and on-time for their appointment. Submitted very thorough bid package. Very professional. Although I did not ultimately select JRV to perform the work, I would recommend them to friends and family.

After purchasing my home in November, I hired a handyman recommended by my real estate agent to paint the interior of my home. I was left with an absolute mess (paint on my laminate flooring, paint on all appliances, blinds, etc.) All of the woodwork had not been painted with a glossy enamel but with a flat white paint that was dull and would scuff upon contact. I found JRV Painting from Angie's List and they were an absolute godsend! Mr. Venn and his wife are an amazingly talented team of painters. From start to finish they listened to my concerns, had wonderful ideas, and made my home look amazing. They did not have a clean slate to start with. They had to fix the errors left by the previous painter. They went above and beyond by removing what paint they could that was splattered by the previous painter. They even went as far as to take all of the doorknobs, hardware, etc. home and to remove the paint that was covered on them by the previous painter. JRV Painting left me with an amazing paint job! Their lines are sharp and their craftsmanship impeccable. I will be using them in the spring to paint the exterior of my home!

JRV did an excellent job and the finished product is lovely. Jim Venn, the owner, sent pictures to me for our file. He will work with me, as his schedule allows, for other work to be done on my mother's home. We are very pleased with him and his crew and will hire them again. Highly recommended.

It was a great experience - so much better than do-it-myself! Jim and his crew were wonderful - his wife even joined the painting party. The weather was closing in on us and they hustled to get the pressure washing and caulking done in time so that the painting could be completed in the two days of sunshine we just had. In addition, they had to contend with my three other overlapping projects - a garage sale, sprinkler system installation, and crawl space insulation redo. They worked around everything and provided superior customer service, always with a smile. One of the guys even loaned me change money for the garage sale because I had forgotten to go to the bank! They went above and beyond expectations helping me decide on the correct paint and color choices, and were exceptionally patient with my indeciseveness, especially considering the weather limitations and their busy schedule. The prep work was thorough, the deck and the house look beautiful, and they did it all in three days! They even painted the trellis in the entrance way, which wasn't part of the bid, so that it would all look good. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend them.

We contacted three painting contractors to provide estimates to paint our home. We have only lived in the home for a year, but the previous owners hadn't maintained the exterior and had not been painted since it was built in 2001. Jim had an appointment on one day and had to reschedule, then was running late. He was excellent about keeping us apprised of the delays and ultimate arrival time. When Jim arrived, he took the time to listen to my painting expectations. He provided good feedback on the job and insights into the actual expectations about a painting project. It was a hard decision between this company and the contractor we ultimately went with. Jim provided a complete estimate and references that were wiling to meet with us and share their positive experiences.

Four person team, all very nice and easy to deal with

After using JRV for an interior paint job a few months earlier and being VERY happy with the completed job, I hired them to also paint my home's exterior. Jim asked lots of questions when touring to prepare the bid, so the bid was specific to my preferences and competitive. I needed to schedule the job after some roof work which didn't happen until June, but they fit me in within a few weeks after that. Rain caused a few delays, but Jim was great about keeping me updated on any schedule changes. He had left me his paint sample cards and helped in choosing the right color, including recommending some specific colors he'd had luck with before. Painting day arrived.....and it started raining. Plus I had inadvertently sprinkled one of my outside walls next to my garden. So they left and returned the next day and were able to complete a 1-1/2 day job in one long day. Jim's crew really hustled - they each seemed experienced and familiar with their specific roles, and Jim paid close attention and gave directions as needed. Jim's wife Vonnie is part of the crew and she and Jim work efficiently together. Jim pointed out a place where trim was starting to rot - recommending I eventually replace a board, but as a temp fix he filled, sanded and painted over the area. During the paint job I decided that I DID want the window trim to match the roof trim (for the bid I had said it should be same color as house). Jim made the change without complaint, also accommodating a few other changes I made to the bid, and his bid recalculation was very fair. Jim walked me around the house after they completed painting to check for anything missed or any concerns I might have. It looked great - close up as well as from a distance. As with the interior painting, JRV's exterior painting was really nicely done and I continue to be a very satisfied customer.

I heard about JRV from a colleague who had selected them after getting 10 bids, and she was extremely happy with the final result. So I had high expectations and they were all met. Jim is friendly and really informative, and explained the details of his svcs during the bid walkthru. Jim was willing to add a repair job to the bid for some trim and door damage done by my dog. His bid was complete, very competitive, and arrived promptly. I can't say enough about the quality of work done by Jim, Vonnie, and their crew. They are serious about their taping/covering of surfaces that aren't going to be painted. They painted my ceilings first, including a cathedral ceiling, then did the walls. Every area was done well -- nice even surfaces, clean edges, no drip lines, no paint where it wasn't wanted. After some discussion we had agreed on the number of coats of paint he would apply, with him talking me out of extra coats in some cases (which would have increased the cost) and I was very happy with his recommendations. When they were finishing up the paint job Jim walked me through each room to double-check for quality, and he saw a few things I didn't that he then touched up. Then they cleaned up after themselves........and they REALLY cleaned, including vacuuming and dusting and taking away their trash, so there's no bits of their process left behind. Quality of services and feeling like I can trust my contractor are HUGE with me, and with JRV I got both. Plus Jim and Vonnie are really nice people!
