Jim and his crew did a fabulous job. Their attention to detail was very impressive, the work was top-notch, and communication throughout all phases of the project was outstanding. I'm very happy with my experience with JRV Painting and have referred them to several of my friends.

A representative called and set up a time for the estimate. Apparently Jim came by and looked over the house. I didn't hear anything for several days, so I called again. Jim answered and asked some clarifying questions. That was the end of my contact with JRV Painting. I was disappointed and a bit upset that they didn't have the professional courtesy to call me back, even if it was to let me know they weren't interested in giving a bid. Poor customer relations.

Request for quote was answered promptly. Physical inspection of our home was prompt and thorough. Owner performs these activities as well as the spraying. Four workers, including the two owners, used parts of three days to complete pressure washing, masking, painting and cleanup. Masking was perfect. Paint was sprayed, rolled and then sprayed a second time. Results could not have been better. These are skilled professionals who could not be more accommodating.

Jim and his wife were wonderful to work with. We got several quotes for painting our home and they all came within 10% or so of each other. We chose JRV based on the reviews but more importantly by the initial good impression we got from Jim when he came to our home to provide a quote. During the entire process we felt like he respected our wishes and did whatever he could to make sure our home came out just right. He is very knowledgeable about the different types and qualities of paints and stains to use in our wet climate and provided invaluable recommendations. When painting started he and his crew were there every day until the job was done. The quality of his work is 10/10. His estimate was 100% accurate and there were no additional costs. We highly recommend JRV for exterior painting. He, his wife, and crew are hard working, skilled and honest people.

Jim, Bonnie and the gang showed up on time, were fully prepared, professional and worked quickly through the project. They did a great job and the house looks great. The price quoted was fair and there were no additional charges. We will definitely use them again.

They were very friendly and easy to work with. When they scheduled the painting they were there and it turned out wonderful! We would definitely use them in the future.

They were very timely. In fact, they contacted us to see if we could get the house earlier than we had planned. We were still getting approval from our HOA, so could not take them up on the scheduling. They confirmed all appointments ahead of time. They will include a sample of your chosen paint so you can see what the color looks like on a section of your home. The home looks great and we don't anticipate having to get another paint job for a while. Our neighbors, have all given us a thumbs up for the job they did. We even had some walk up to us afterwards and ask us where we found them. We answered,Angies List, of course.

I did my due diligence before selecting a painter to do our house. I started with Angie's List, checked with friends and neighbors and got multiple bids. When I get bids, I do more than read the summary and bottom line estimate. I like to watch how the estimate process is conducted. I believe a great deal can be learned by the thoroughness of the process, the questions asked, the problems and concerns that are noted and most important, the answers given to MY questions as the evaluation is taking place. From the very first meeting with Jim Venn I was impressed on all counts. His knowledge of paints and painting are extensive and his experience allowed him to give honest answers to some problem areas that would need extra prep time. The job itself went smoothly and the people employed by Jim were as conscientious as he was. They were a great crew and their attention to detail was evident throughout. My job required some rather high ladder work and the railings on my multiple decks need a lot of TLC to get them prepped for the paint. All of this was overseen by Jim and he demanded that it be done to his high standards. He was there every day, on time and always took time to offer suggestions and gather our opinions about how the job was proceeding. In short, he was professional at all times. The work exceeded our expectations and we have received numerous comments from neighbors and friends about the like-new, fresh look of the house. The bill came in at the original estimate. There were no up-charges or surprises of any sort. Our house is once again the home we wanted it to be. Their estimate was not the lowest bid, but it was a very good value for the money we spent. They did first class work.

Jim and his wife were very nice. They worked as a team and pressure washed my house and deck. They returned two days later and painted it over the next several days. They cleaned up daily and kept in communication about the job as it went. I was very pleased and would recommend them to anyone needing their home updated.

Even though it was a very busy season for exterior painting, JRV Painting was able to fit our home in earlier than we could have reasonably hoped for, due to a rescheduling of another painting job. Jim and his crew arrived promptly each day, worked consistently, and finished the job with professionalism and a thorough cleaning of the work area around the house. They didn't complain about the many wasp nests they had to clear; they just quietly removed the offending objects and proceeded to pressure wash, seal, and paint. Jim and his wife paid considerable attention to matching the new paint to the original house colors (this 10-year-old house had not been painted since it was built). He also fully explained his findings during the estimate visit and made careful recommendations for types of paint and how he could resolve the unsightly, exposed Tyvek problem on both sides of the front porch. He was very candid about painting the Hardy Panel stucco-look exterior portions where the seams had become somewhat visible as the house settled over the past 10 years, and made it clear that there would still remain some residual appearance of the seams. It turned out so well! We are really pleased with the overall product and service. It was particularly refreshing to have a work crew who arrived each day looking and sounding "clean." They were hard-working and so professional. They stayed well within the cost estimate, too. We will be contacting JRV again later this year to have a side panel of our outbuilding replaced and painted. These people really show that they care about customer satisfaction, and we are recommending them to friends and neighbors. In a word, the JRV company is "awesome.

We had a semi-custom house built in 2013. As usual with all builders now days, our house only received one coat of paint. We decided to use a different vendor than the one our builder used and researched Angie's List. We interviewed and received four bids and selected JRV to do the job. From the initial contact to the last, Jim and his wife did the best job possible in customer relations. We selected JRV because of this personal feeling. Although their bid was the highest we recieved, we were more concerned about the relationship my wife and I developed with the owner, and Jim far exceeded our expectations. He was always considerate to our wants and needs. He was always prompt from beginning to end on our job, and even wanted to make sure we called him back if something was missed or came up after the job was completed. Our house job consisted of two coats of exterior body paint, two coats of trim paint and two coats of accent paint. We also had JRV do some sanding and sealing of the cedar soffits over our front entrance, and back patios. The job was fantastic and all of our neighbors commented on how the paint and house looked. Would we use JRV again, definitely yes. In fact, we are going to call Jim and have him do the bid for our interior painting. Jim Vern and JRV Painting is highly recommended!

Excellent customer service from bid to job completion. This was not the lowest bid I received but it was the right one to accept to get an excellent finished product. Attention to detail was outstanding and the crew always courteous and respectful of my home. I was not looking for a contractor to just come and slap paint on and say "done." Thank you for an outstanding job, and for providing me with a stress free experience.

We had several people come out and bid for us, most had phenomenal ratings on Angie's list, and JRV ended up being the no-brainer choice. He was a little below the average estimate but still seemed to possess more knowledge about paint and how it would react given our houses proximity to water and the side that basically bakes in the sun. Jim and his crew, who includes his lovely wife that our 2 year old adored, came and and began work punctually and politely. The most amazing this was the amazingly efficient way they got this entire house and deck painted in under 3 days. and that is with doing dual coats with back rolling. Our original paint job was atrcocious and now I cannot look at it without smiling. My guess is that JRV upped our property value by at least double what we paid for the painting, that's a h*** of a deal. If we EVER need some painting done you can bet that this is the only group will be calling. They were so good in fact that I had a handful of neighbors stopping by to see if they could set up bids. My only suggestion with using them is get them quickly, I am certain that Painters of this quality get booked for the summer almost immediately! Thanks again Jim and Co., it truly was a fantastic experience.

Jim and Vonnie and their team were spectacular. They were meticulous about details, very courteous. They came over and tested colors to make sure they looked right on our house and developed custom color mixes for us to add dimension to the house. Jim also has an artistic eye and really got the nuances of trim right. They were on time, on budget exceeded our expectations. The were also very respectful and we felt comfortable leaving the house to them as we left for the day because they are trustworthy. We are very happy and highly recommend them for any exterior or interior paint.

I first contacted Jim last August and, as expected, he was already booked for the season. Since I figured I wouldn't fare any better with another contractor, I asked him to come out and give me an estimate anyway and put me on his schedule for 2015. The bid seemed high at first, but when I checked my records I discovered that it wasn't all that much higher than the last time we'd had the house painted (and I won't admit to how many years ago that was). I decided to go with JRV Painting based in large part on his high rating on Angie's List and my desire for quality work. As my father used to say, "You get what you pay for." My home is large and the southern and western exposure needed MUCH scraping and caulking, along with some siding repair. All this was handled expertly and efficiently. Communication was excellent throughout the process; it was clear Jim wanted to do the best job possible and make sure I was satisfied. In just over a week, my house was prepped and painted and looking beautiful. I could not be more pleased and I have already referred JRV Painting to a friend.

His bid was significantly higher than the rest of the bids so we decided not to hire him for this project but will definitely consider him in the future.

I was needing the work done on short notice and unfortunately JRV's employees were already committed to other projects, but by responding so quickly (4 minutes after my email), even though it was on a Sunday, a non workday for them, it enabled me to search for someone available on short notice without losing a day or two waiting for his response.

The experience from start to finish was fantastic. The bid we received from Jim wasn't the highest and wasn't the lowest either. His level of detail during the bid process was much more thorough than any of the other bids we received. Jim helped with color choices when he thought the trim color we selected wouldn't provide enough contrast with the body color. We appreciated his honest input and expertise. He was spot on. The communication throughout the process was great. The crew was here every day at 8 and worked until 4:30 with 30 minutes for lunch. They got in, got the work done, and got out. They finished our house in 2 days. Because Jim is a general contractor, he was able to fix some minor trim and siding repair issues that came up during the job. We appreciated his flexibility and willingness to address these for us (minor additional cost). The crew was tidy and careful. There were no mishaps with paint or landscaping We appreciated the fact that Jim gave us the original bid and was on site every day to manage the project and ensure our expectations were met. He was patient and flexible, and understood how important this project was to us. Because of their level of detail, Jim and crew made our 1960s rambler look the way we always knew that it could. We plan to use JRV for some interior painting projects in the future and have already recommended JRV to one of our friends. We had trouble finding painters who would show up for bids, return calls, etc. If you've been searching for a good painter, you can trust JRV to do an amazing job.

They're very good. They're pleasant, good to work with and did a good work.

I didn't use this provider because the painting estimates were just a smidge higher than the contractor I selected. However, the firm was prompt and professional and provided a very professional estimate and responses to additional questions. I am disappointed in how my job went down ultimately--more on that another time--but JRV does seem like a good firm and worth a shot if you are getting estimates.

Jim and his Crew painted a neighbors home 5 years ago. I was very impressed with the job they did on my neighbors home (which still looks great) so I used him to paint our home as well. They weren't the cheapest around (average) but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. After spending $3,000 to have portions of my house painted only to have it start to fade and peel away a year later, I wasn't looking for cheap I was looking for a paint job that would last. As with any good contractor ,I knew they would get booked up so I got on their schedule a year in advance. I am VERY satisfied and pleased with the job they have done for me. All the crew were friendly, professional and took great care in making sure everything was to my satisfaction. I was also pleased to see Jim (the owner) on site working and overseeing the job personally. I can highly recommend JRV Paining.

This is our second time using Jim Venn/JRV painting. Two years ago he replaced some exterior boards and flashing around our garage and boards on the front of our house, painted the exterior of our house and the interior of our kitchen. Jim's team does a professional job painting. Our exterior paint still looks brand new. I'm very happy with the quality paint job and repairs inside as well. They take time to clean up before leaving the property. For the exterior job, this meant making sure all old paint chips were removed from our flower beds and they vaccuumed our interior rooms before leaving. We are very happy with their work and for sure will use them again in the future. I rated B on responsiveness primarily because they are a small company and last year we asked for some touch up painting to our exterior paint job which didn't happen. When our boards dry out and shrink up, you can see the prior paint job exposed. This means JRV painting needs to come out to touch up during the summer which is when they are scheduled with larger jobs. I understand that our touch up needs to work around the larger jobs. Jim promises to work in the touch up painting this summer and I believe they will. All other communications were rated an A.

These folks were not the cheapest nor the most expensive. They produced a quality product in a professional manner. They had a good attitude, great communication and demonstrated a real desire to do a great job and to make sure I was satisfied before leaving. I have had considerable dealings with construction and sub contractors both in business and personnel life. This is the type of contractor I would recommend to anyone that is looking for a licensed, insured contractor, that will produce a quality job at fair price.

I emailed this company requesting a quote on painting the exterior of my home. Jim came out quickly. He said he would email the quote to me the next day. After 2 days I emailed the company and asked that they please send me the quote. On the 3rd day I did finally receive it. I had a few questions so I called Jim. I have left him 4 voice mails. I still have not heard back from this company. In the mean time, I have found, received a new quote, and hired another company to do the job for $500 less then Jim's quote. I originally liked Jim and had every intention of going with his bid. I am glad I didn't. I have a feeling it would have been a nightmare!
