+ -1 moreI had a drain line in my kitchen that needed repair and so, after checking Angies' List, I called J & K Plumbing. Jerry Church came out the same day and gave me an estimate for the work I needed done. I also mentioned that I had two faucets that had very low pressure and an outside faucet that was leaking. Jerry fixed the outside faucet for me right away with a twist of his wrench and then came back the following day with Les to do the kitchen repair. After finishing the repair of the kitchen line, they then cleaned filters on both faucets and, like magic, I have lots of pressure! I really can't say enough good things about J & K Plumbing and Jerry and Les! They were prompt, pleasant and had the job done quickly at a reasonable price. I most certainly will call them in the future if I need any plumbing work done.
Description of Work: Drain line in kitchen was replaced. Outside faucet fixed. Two faucets (one in bathroom, one in laundry room) were tested and the filters removed and cleaned.

+ -1 moreThe work required going under and upwards through an established rock and dirt wall. They were very respectful of our property, advised us to remove a few vulnerable plants and took care not to trample the reamaining many landscape plants and rocks. They were prompt, courteous, shared any information requested and were very open about what was needed and how they were going to do the job. The job was done rapidly and what for me would have been an impossibly complicated and endless task was done in a day. The few small problems that remained were quickly and cheerfully corrected. My only complaint is that where the lawn required the sod be removed and replaced the sod was not very carefully replaced and for now, at least, has left a 1 by 10 foot line of grass that is about one inch higher than the remainder. This may well settle and perhaps it is the way it should be done, but if so, I wish they had told us to just be patient for things to settle and self-correct. Since we are not very attached to having a nice lawn, this is a small gripe and in no way affects our overall high rating of thier quick and professional work
Description of Work: They put in a new water supply line from the city main to our home. This required disconnection and reconnection to the city supply line, a new connection to our sprinker system supply line, digging a trench and forming a tunnel for stringing a new modern plastic supply line, drilling through our basement concrete wall, and installing a new interior main water shut off valve.

Description of Work: We called them because we needed inspection of a repair we ourselves had done some time ago related to a leaky shower drain in our second floor, which had affected the ceiling in the bottom floor. Jerry and Les thoroughly did the inspection, which involved cutting the drywall of the ceiling. They took the time to verify that there was no leak. They also repaired the flushing system in our toilet as well as a leaky faucet in the kitchen.

+ -1 moreThe guys called when they were on their way to the house. They were very friendly and professional from beginning to end. They look at the sink plumbing, asked some questions about what had been done and gave us a quote and set to work. During the work on the sink, my husband asked me if I wanted them to look at a toilet we were having issues with and after asking if we wanted them to look at it, they immediately went to have a look. After finishing the sink, which even included all the sealing, they went to get the new toilet and returned within the hour. They discovered a drain issue that was causing standing water in the pipe, cleared it, and replaced the new toilet again. They did everything within the price quoted and weren't happy with the job until everything flowed as it should. We never felt we were going to be left with a problem or get "jacked up" in the price. You hear so many horror stories and this experience was so far away from that, that we felt blessed to have found these guys. Not only would we call them again if needed, we are going to tell our friends to give them a call and not be fearful or anxiety ridden. Didn't think there were businesses out there who actually care about their name and reputation and their customers. It was like having your dad come over to help you.
Description of Work: We called because a do it yourself job got away from us. They were able to come the same day. We were replacing a kitchen sink that was outdated and was too small. The previous plumbing was a real patch it jumbled mess. J & K gave us a quote before starting and stayed at that price. They put in the new piping and attachments and did away with the convoluted mess that the previous owner (or his plumber) had left. They also looked at a toilet issue we were having and fixed that on the same visit! My husband was fearful that they would laugh at his attempt and lack of knowledge, but instead they were complimentary and supportive. J & K completed both jobs quickly and didn't use the words 'good enough". They certainly did not try to up sell or bully like some people we have had heard about.

Description of Work: The cold water tap to our washing machine stripped and was not turning off properly so we needed it replaced. Jerry came out the next day and not only fixed our initial problem but also a broken spigot we had outside. He was professional, courteous, efficient and expeditious in his work and we highly recommend his services. We'll definitely be calling him again should we need plumbing services.

+ -1 moreThis is my second time using J&K Plumbing. Last month I called them to change a tub spout and replace the valley cartridge in my shower because there was more water coming out of the faucet than the shower. They charged $160.00 which I didn't think was unreasonable. This month when I got an extra high water bill and found out I had a leak in my main water line I called them again. Jerry came out and gave me an estimate of $1700. to dig everything up and put in a new line. My house was built in 1924 and it had the old galvanized pipe that was pitted and corroded and falling apart. I knew there was no point in trying to repair just one section so I said yes to the job. After going to City Hall Jerry got a rude surprise when they charged him $195.00 for the permit!! He did NOT add that to my bill. He worked hard digging everything up including a large heavy piece of old concrete which no longer served any purpose. He carefully pulled out some small decorative plants and set them safely aside. His dad (also named Jerry) came along and put things back together after the City Hall inspectors gave their blessing on the job done. The plants were put back exactly as before. When all that was finished they came in the house and repaired the shower in my second bathroom and also installed the new toilet. I hope I'm finished with all my plumbing problems but whatever happens I won't hesitate to call them. They are fast, efficient,friendly, honest and do quality work. I will tell everyone I know to call J&K Plumbing for any of their plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Dig from sidewalk to house and run new 1 inch poly pipe line into basement. Connect to copper. Backfill and clean up work area. Rebuild Price Pfister tub valve and change out customer supplied toilet.

+ -1 moreOur toilet tank cracked and water was going all over. I was able to use a fish tank siphon to get most of the water out of the tank. I went on Angies list and called J and K plumbing. He was just finishing up a job. He finished his work and then picked up a toilet for me on his way here. He was at my house about an hour after I called him. I was so grateful! He did a great job of putting the toilet in. He put in a quality toilet with a really cool lid that comes off to be cleaned and has a no slam feature. Our other toilets are almost 20 years old so I think we will have them come and replace them before they also go bad. Had I not been home really bad damage would have occurred.
Description of Work: Picked up a Kohlar toilet, removed the old toilet and disposed of it and put in the new toilet.

+ -1 moreThey did a very good job, our only problem was they duplicate billed us, when our credit card bill came, it was on there twice. My wife called and told Jerry about it and he said they would back it out. That never happened, and we had to call the credit card co. and depute the second billing. Our credit card co. contacted J& K's bank to dispute the secound charge. We should get a answer from our credit card co.telling us it has been resolved.
Description of Work: They replaced a cartrige in the Moen shower valve, and replaced a broken shower arm.

Water had completely soaked my kitchen and the plumbers I had originally called couldn't come for almost 2 hours and their reviews were terrible. I decided to try someone else and Jerry Church came within 40 min of my call and fixed the pipe even quicker. He was friendly, efficient and fair priced. He definitely saved my kitchen from a lot of water damage. I would highly recommend this company.

Description of Work: As with a serious medical problem and getting a second physician's opinion, I had a minor plumbing problem and wanted a second plumber's opinion. Kitchen faucet was very loose at the base and I was concerned it could lead to a more significant problem. First plumber stated I needed a new faucet and new pipes and the price tag was over $900. I was wary of this plumber's "sales approach" to what I thought was addressing a simple problem. At the suggestion of a colleague, I contacted Jerry Church of J&K Plumbing. He arrived right on time, diagnosed the problem quickly - a missing screw holding the base of the faucet - and was finished in about 20 minutes. No new faucet needed. Pipes were fine. He charged the minimum service fee. Very pleasant; very professional. Will recommend J&K to all my friends and associates who need either minor or major plumbing services.

+ 0 moreHaving your hot water heater die isn't great anytime, but Thanksgiving morning is a particularly bad time. I called J&K's phone number very late that night expecting to just leave a message on their office voicemail, but Jerry picked up the phone himself, despite the hour and the holiday! We talked about our options, which unfortunately boiled down to "time for a new one" because the old one had reached the end of its useful life after almost 12 years. Jerry was able to fit us in the very next morning and the replacement was smooth and easy. We had used J&K's services a few years ago to replace our broken water lines from the street to the house, so they were our first choice for this exciting new plumbing opportunity.

+ -1 moreCalled and made appointment with Jerry for first thing the next morning and he arrived a half hour ahead of schedule while I was not home. This caused some delay as my wife tried to find the right key for access to the crawlspace. This was sorted out by the time I arrived about 15 minutes later. Removal and replacement of the hose bib took about 45 minutes. It required some extra effort as it was encased in brick and mortar, but with Jerry's expertise and correct tools it was handled quickly and professionally. I'm sure glad that I didn't try replacing it myself!

+ -1 moreGreat! On time and within budget. J&K Plumbing bids were far less than other big name plumbing companies.
Description of Work: Jerry and Les replaced all galvanized water piping with PEX in my 3000 SF single level house. The job was complicated by the fact that lines came into the house through the slab foundation. Jerry and Les dug out the inlet line, and were able to bring the supply into the house by drilling a hole through the slab, in a closet near an exterior wall. This was quite a relief, since other bids included jack-hammering a large section of my floor. After the supply was run through the attic and re-piped to all the fixtures (kitch, W/D, 3 BA), Jerry also added 4 outside spigots. He also installed a new water heater, in a new location that allowed for easier access (original WH buried in master BR closet). All the work was completed on time and within budget. As changes arose throughout the project, Jerry was very easy to work with and accomodated all my requests. As part of the job, he also replaced all bath fixtures (included with the bid). Many cuts needed to be made into the drywall, and in the end, I was plesently surprised as to the minimal amount of removal. They do not do drywall repair, but I was fortunate enough to have painters/drywall contractors on site. Jerry worked well with the drywall contractor, communicating when areas could be patched after being pressure tested. This facilitated the completion of the various other work I was having done at the same time as the re-pipe. Overall, very satisified with J&K Plumbing, and would not hesitate to hire them again! Not to mention Jerry gave me a nice Angies List discount, which more than covered my annual fee.....

We showed him the shower and explained the problem, he knew exactly what was wrong and got his tools and the part. The job turned out to be more difficult than normal as the cartridge was frozen in the housing. Jerry worked patiently on it until he got the old one out and replaced it with the new one. We also explained we were thinking about re-modeling the shower and asked him some questions. He gave us answeres and some good suggestions. The shower workes great

+ -1 moreI purchased a new toilet at local box store. I watched the videos and read directions on how to install. All went pretty well, except when finally installing it, it wasn't totally flat (one side higher). Tried a couple times and finally decided i needed an expert's help. We called several plumbers on Angie's list and got quotes up to $350.00 just to install the toilet. We found J & K Plumbing and gave them a call. They gave a quote over the phone and were available the same day. The install did not go 100% as smooth as expected, and he had to replace the flange to get it to sit flush/flat. Definitely something I would not have known to do. Jerry came out, was absolutely personable and pleasant. He got along with our dog and cat (always a bonus), AND didn't mind me observing and asking occasional questions. I like to learn and do it myself when possible (for next time!). Since he was wrapping up, i asked him about another minor project i didn't have the tools to complete (Pex spreader). He crawled into the crawlspace and said it would only be a bit more to finish that up as well. He had to make a couple trips between his truck and the crawlspace, and i think he spent more time than expected, but still stuck to his quoted price. Wow, a refreshing experience! We will call J & K Plumbing next time we need help. I cannot recommend, or rate, them higher.
