Description of Work: Dennis I believe was his name, came out to my new remodel project to quote me a price for finishing the electrical work in the entire home, about half of which already appeared to be complete and correct. Dennis was punctual, arrived right on time, and was dressed and acted professional. The home my wife and I just bought has been gutted (taken down to studs) so all the electrical, essentially, was exposed and accessible. After walking around the house and telling him what I knew to be wrong, such as all the old knob and tube wiring needing to be removed, what outlets didn't work, weren't hooked up, etc. we sat down to discuss the price. It was high, and he was very honest about the price and why it was high. He quoted me around $10-$13K as he said he would not feel comfortable or be able to give me the best possible result if he wasn't allowed to completely rewire the entire house, top to bottom, possibly including a new service panel which would need to be re-routed to the outside due to a potential code restriction. |Due to the price tag I assume that the quality of the work would be an "A" which is why the grade there. I was budgeting closure to around $5k for just finishing the electrical, not completely re-doing all of it so I instead opted to do it myself. I purchased 1000ft of 12-2 (although I only needed roughly 350ft. but it was on sale if you bought four rolls at Home Depot). I am not an electrician by trade and I do not recommend doing this on your own unless you have experience, which I do, or do your research, which I did. I also have a relative with on the job experience I could rely on should I get into a pickle, which I didn't need. Anyway, I was able to rewire my entire house top to bottom, no service panel needed as I'm grandfathered in, and remove all old knob and tube for a grand total of roughly $300, plus I get to take 2 rolls of wire back which will get me back another $100. If you have to fish wire through walls, or have a smaller job, just don't want to do it or don't know how to do it, I would recommend these guys. They know what they're doing, they guarantee their work, you know you're getting a quality project at the end of the day (I'm assuming based upon my limited experience with them), but you are going to pay slightly higher than your basic craigslist electrician. These guys are safe, but you pay for it. Overall a pleasant experience though!
