This is DK Professional Painting, LLC's response to the review posted on 1/23/2019 by [Member Name Removed] DK is very familiar with the project and adamantly denies that its work was not done properly and not to industry standards. First and foremost, DK had no contract with this homeowner. DK's contract was with the home builder, who approved DK's work. DK completed the exterior painting on May 25, 2017, and the interior painting on August 1, 2017. DK had a 12-month warranty on its work, which is standard in the industry. At the conclusion of the initial work, there were two post-construction touch-ups, which is typical on new construction, and the work was accepted by the builder. Well over a year later in November of 2018, and well beyond DK's warranty period, the individuals who purchased the home ([Member Name Removed]), apparently issued an alleged list of defects to the builder/vendor. The owners alleged, among other things, some issues with the paint. Even though it was well beyond the warranty period, DK inspected the property and informed the owners that there were no paint failures. Indeed, DK also inspected the property with the paint manufacturer who confirmed DK's position and who also verified that there were no paint failures. Ms. [Member Name Removed]'s allegations as to the environment at the time of painting and the lack of primer are not only untrue, but are based entirely upon hearsay. The work was properly primed, as was established to the builder. As to an alleged 'paint drip' on a window sill, it was not a paint drip. It was an issue with the underlying material, and DK had addressed it with the builder during the prior walk-through at the completion of DK's work. Additionally, it is standard practice in new construction in this area not to paint the tops of interior doors or door trim and, often times, underneath window sills. Again, this was approved by DK's customer, the builder. There is no defective or 'wrong paint' in the bathroom. This has been verified by the paint manufacturer. As Ms. [Member Name Removed] knows full well, the issue with the bathroom is related to the venting and to the fact, as the owners disclosed, one of the occupants takes extremely long, hot showers. That is what is causing the streaking on the walls. There are no paint failures or warranty items occurring with the paint or its application. And, the owners' complaints, as they know, are without merit. At no time did DK ever claim that it would not make repairs during the one-year warranty period. Again, DK was never contacted until well beyond its 12-month warranty period. Even so, if DK's work had, in fact, failed, DK would have made the necessary corrections, despite the lapse of the warranty. Dave was not rude, arrogant or combative. To the contrary, it was the owners who become angry when it was shown to them that there were no paint defects or warranty issues. Most importantly, Ms. [Member Name Removed]'s accusation that Dave stole a five gallon bucket of paint is entirely untrue and unfounded. The owners have absolutely no evidence that Dave, or anyone from DK, removed, or stole, any paint from their property. DK did not remove any paint from the property, nor would it have any reason to do so. The paint and colors were purchased for that house and match that house. DK would have no use or need for it elsewhere. Being a painting company, we already have more paint than we know what to do with. Indeed, when the owners confronted Dave about the missing paint, he told them that he had not removed any paint but, if they did not believe him, he would give them a five-gallon bucket of paint at no cost. Recall, DK had no prior contract with these individuals. Dave told them that they could go to the paint store where DK had purchased the paint and pick up the paint, which Dave would put on DK's account. The paint store would have the color code for their paint. To Dave's knowledge, they never followed through. DK has been in business for 11 years and takes great pride in its work and its customer satisfaction. Obviously, nobody is perfect. If there are defects or issues with DK's work for which it is responsible, it will readily stand behind its work and make any necessary corrections. However, that is not the case with this property. DK has always stood behind its work, and will continue to do so. It is unfortunate that these particular owners are unhappy. DK had no contract or dealings with these individuals for the project. It appears that they are unwilling to accept the facts as they truly are and, instead, have chosen to lash out at DK and have even gone as far as accusing the owner of being a thief. They are sadly mistaken.
