Response from CLEAVER CONSTRUCTION INC
We sincerely apologize that (Members Name) feels that the process was not communicated to him adequately. A Septic design is essentially a blue print for a septic system. It involves a field study, determining soil depths, soil types and property dimensions. This involves using a excavator to did "soil logs" which the Health Department will inspect. From there a licensed and certified Septic Designer (akin to an Engineer) will design a septic system which will adequately serve the property. In (Members Name) case, it took approximately 3 weeks to complete the design (not a unusual timeframe). $610.00 of the $1,800 (Members Name) paid was paid to the Health Department in order to submit the design for review. Other companies, as well as ours cannot bid a septic system because without a design they don't know what they are installing. Any 'quote' they would give you would be at best a ball park. Systems for the size of (Members Name) property can range wildly from $6,000-$30,000 depending on soil depth, soil type, system type, size of property etc .etc. We apologize for (Members Name) not being notified as to the exact time of starting, I believe we were asked to get there ASAP once the design was approved. We mobilized the multiple pieces of equipment and were able to expedite the install of the system, I assure you the install took more then 6 hours, but we are pleased that there was an impression it only took that long. All inspections were passed and the system was buried as planned. In the word's of the foreman in charge of the install, "Everything went perfect! the site was great, and weather was great!" We do not typically provide exact material lists for septic installs, as those materials are called out upon on the actual septic design. We find filling the contract/estimate with exact material lists is not needed. However, we have in the past provided material lists for clients and septic designers upon request. Typically however we follow the design, the same as a builder would follow a architects blueprints. Should (Member Name) or any client request a itemized estimate that can be provided. We sincerely apologize that (Members Name) feels we faltered in our communication, we pride our selves at having excellent communication. We have 2 full time Account Managers who sole responsibility is to respond to clients needs, to always answer the phone and make sure client needs and expectations are meet. We at Cleaver Construction are truly sorry (Members Name) did not get the care and attention he needed.
