Description of Work: We had Barbara come out from Gordon's and give us an estimate to refinish our existing oak flooring and add more oak to three rooms in our home. She was very nice, and measured everything, and told us she would email us a bid. I expected the bid to arrive much sooner than it did. It took a full week before we received any information. We felt that they didn't seem that interested in doing the work. We asked three other companies to bid on the job and got immediate results. We ended up hiring another company.

+ 0 morePromptly provided a quotation for services. Lead time was several weeks but once on-site they did all the work in 2 days including a last minute change in floor finish. They put on two polyeuethane coats and offered to come back and do the finish coat after the kitchen cabinets are installed. Would definitely use this contractor again.
Description of Work: Sanded and refinished hardwood floor in kitchen and hall way. Included small amount of wood work to correct doorway transition area between rooms.

+ -1 moreBarbara, the CEO of Gordon's Hardwoods, personally came to my home to measure for the refinishing. She was very knowledgable and professional. The quote she prepared came to $4 per ft2 for two coats of finish, and $5/ft2 for Swedish finish. Her measurement of the square footage came to 8 square feet more than the two other contractors who gave measured and provided estimates. They seem very busy, and it took her an entire week to prepare an estimate. I would assume scheduling the refinishing will also take several weeks or months, though I have not gone far in that process. Ultimately, I am going with a refinishing contractor who is doing 3 coats of finish for $4/ ft2, came the day after contact to measure, provided an estimate later that same day, and was able to start on my flooring within 3 days. I am sure Gordon's does beautiful work, but they just weren't quick enough on the draw to win my business.

Description of Work: Took up the carpeting in the living and dining rooms and laid down a beautiful hardwood floor ( we purchased the red oak from them) that matched perfectly the existing hardwood in the kitchen, entry and hall. Also replaced the flooring in the laundry room, hall bath and master bath with porcelain tiles. (which we provided) We could not be more happy with our new floors!

+ -1 moreTHE SHOP HAS THE SQUARE FOOT SAMPLES OF ALL THE KINDS OF HARD WOODS. THEY BROUGHT THE WOODS A WEEK BEFORE THEY START THEIR WORK. A CREW OF THREE CAME ON TIME, RIPPED OFF THE OLD CARPET AND STARTED INSTALLING ON THE FIRST DAY. THEY LOCKED UP AND CLEANED UP AFTER WORK WHEN WE WERE NOT HOME. ALL THE WORK DONE IN 5 DAYS. AND WE REALLY LIKED THEIR WORK.
Description of Work: THEY INSTALLED IN THE DINING ROOM, LIVING ROOM, HALL CLOSET, LINEN CLOSET AND STAIRS WITH PREFINISHED COLONIAL RED OAK NATURAL.
