Our clients appreciate our candid attitude and straight up pricing. James and his crew offer master carpentry in all areas of home improvement. With over a decade of experience, James will provide you with the skill, quality craftsmanship, organization, and professionalism, that is needed to bring your home improvement vision to realization. James has an excellent relationship with a variety of home improvement subcontractors and a local lumber yard & home improvement store. Cox Custom Remodeling is your one call provider for any construction & remodeling venture. Also serving surrounding areas in Puget Sound.

"James and his crew at Cox Custom Remodeling did a great job with our bathroom remodel. Our house was built in 1900 and the nonstandard framing made things more complicated. His lead, Dan was particularly great, taking the extra time to understand components we picked that were new to him. James always had a positive attitude, showed up when he indicated and got things done. Low dust, protection for floors and respect for the rest of the house while the construction was going on. James also provided the best tile guy, Eugene, that did a fantastic job with natural stone and the complicated very fragile mosaic. We would definitely use Cox Custom Remodeling again. Great job guys!"

Harts keeps up on training with staff weekly to ensure they are up to date on the newest technologies. Customers can expect thorough 360 inspections of their plumbing system, loyalty plans, and education to ensure they understand their options and how to maintain their systems for better performance. Contact Harts Service for sewer and drain cleaning, hydro jetting, video inspection, open trench or trenchless sewer repair, plumbing emergencies and more. Harts is also a proud sponsor of the Tacoma Rainiers!

"I needed a valve replaced on my 6-year-old hot water heater. Harts Services tried really hard to convince me to buy a new hot water heater instead of just fixing the valve -- they wanted to turn a $300 job into a $3000 one. Getting them to do the work they said they'd do was like pulling teeth. They inspected the plumbing under my house and found leaks but refused to fix just those pipes. They wanted to repipe the whole house instead, to the tune of ~$30k. They offer a maintenance inspection service which sounds great but now I know that if they found small issues they either wouldn't report the problem or would refuse to fix it. They advertise that their customer service is amazing but you'll have to argue with them. I hate to think of all the people they've hustled."

Bathtub restorations FAQs

The cost to refinish a bathtub is $490 for most homeowners. However, this cost can range from $200 to $1,000 or more, depending on your tub's material and condition.

For example, enamel and cast-iron bathtubs are pretty straightforward to refinish, costing between $350 and $600. However, if you have an antique claw-foot tub, you can expect to pay between $500 and $1,200 for refinishing costs due to the care and complexity needed.

For a standard-sized bathtub with minor damage, it takes approximately 3 to 5 hours to refinish. It might take a bit longer if your bathtub refinishing contractor needs to fill in significant cracks or gouges. This is the same if you have a specialty tub, like an oversized bathtub—you can expect your pro to take a bit on the longer side.

If your bathtub is in overall good shape with minor scratches, discoloration, or just general wear and tear, it's best (and less expensive) to refinish it.

If your tub has large cracks, is leaking, or is otherwise severely damaged, we recommend replacing it with a new bathtub. Refinishing a bathtub can only fix superficial problems, so these issues will still be present or reappear after a refinishing.

There are a few signs, both obvious and not so obvious, that it's time to refinish your bathtub. While some of these signs aren't an urgent problem, others could lead to significant damage if left untreated. Signs you should look out for include:

  • Rust stains, which signal the tub's enamel or surface sealer is deteriorating

  • Small chips, which can grow into larger chunks and can lead to rusting

  • Discoloration, which doesn't lead to a more significant problem but can be unsightly

  • Dirty surfaces, which means that the tub glaze is breaking down and allowing dirt to seep below the coating

Refinishing a bathtub is worth it if your tub has minor damage or is a color that you don't like. The cost of replacing a bathtub is more expensive than simply refinishing one, averaging around $5,300. It's more cost-effective to refinish your tub if you can, but it also gives you the look of a new bathtub without having to replace the whole thing.
