EMPIRE CHEM DRY CARPET CLEANING

I heard of Chem Dry before, a few people I know used them. I researched several places, basically chose Chem Dry because of the coupon I had for them and the fact that the carpets wouldn't get as wet. When I called for an appt., I was quoted a price and scheduled the cleaning for two days later. When the technician arrived and measured - the price was considerably higher. He told me the person who quoted the price was new and must have made a mistake. This price was not much higher than others that I checked, but the fact remained that it was now higher than I was prepared for, however I had everything moved and took the day off from work. Had that not been the case, I probably would not have had the work done, for the principal of the thing. The tecnician, was polite, explained some of the process to me and did try to sell extra services, which was fine, he did not pressure me, just made me aware of some add-ons that were available. There were a few areas that I felt needed more attention and he did go back and take caore of those for me. I am not unhappy with the results, and I don't think the mis-quote was deliberate, but I did point out to him that that was a very poor business practice and he agreed. I am indifferent as to whether I will use them again.

Realtor suggested Chem-Dry, so we called and made an appointment. Several stains were pointed out as needing special attention. Chem-Dry specializes in animal urine stains, but the two particular areas we were concerned with, did not come clean -- but not for lack of effort by the technician. Based on our experience with other services in the past, we felt that the stains should not have been a problem. The quote over the phone was for $150 to $200 depending on how much furniture needed to be moved; with exception of a sofa and recliner, there was nothing on any of the carpet areas. There was an additional sales pitch when the technician arrived to 'sanitize' the carpets in addition to the cleaning we had ordered. The price of $125 additional would have almost doubled the quoted price. We did decline the service, but it seemed a little 'used car extended warranty' like to spring that at the last minute without any mention during the phone quote. Overall, the job was adequate, but nothing special.
