+ 1 moreHe is phenomenal. He is just over the top. What stood out to me was his quality of work. He was punctual, very informative, and went the extra mile on everything. He was just great on every count. I would use his services again in the future in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Rice Masonry did three chimneys. I had proper chimney caps put on all the chimneys. He redid the inside of my fireplace and also the face.

+ 0 moreThey gave me an estimate of $21000 for the job. I had them come out for the estimate because they were listed on Angie's List. They were very friendly and very responsive. They really sounded very good. The decision not to use them for the work was purely based on cost. They were very responsive. They did work for the guy across the street and it looks great from here.
Description of Work: Rice Masonry came out and gave me an estimate for remodeling my patio. The work involved some standard masonry stuff on the patio including concrete work and brick work. They were actually going to pour some new concrete as well.

+ -1 moreJohn promptly responded back. I had found him through his website. He listened to my ideas and suggested things that would make the final outcome better. Later, he came back with stone samples and let us chose the exact color of stone. He started the job just when he said he would. Showed up on time each day. John was very pleasant to have around - a nice guy. It was enjoyable to chat with him. When he was working, it became clear right away that he really knows his stuff. He has much masonry experience and it show in the craftsmanship of his work. He used top-quality materials like you would see on the best commercial jobs. Yes, his price was higher than other contractors. But he pretty much gave us exactly what we were hoping for. Everyone who comes by our yard comments on the seating wall. It has been in place for more than a year and has shown no signs of cracking. We enjoy the final product very much. Thanks John!
Description of Work: John built a stone seating wall alongside our patio. The wall was about 18 inches high and 17 feet long. He used real flagstone laid over a solid concrete block core. All this sits on a super-strong concrete foundation about 6 inches thick containing vertical and horizontal steel reinforcing bars. Very strong. When the job had set for a couple of days, he came back and cleaned the stonework with a light acid wash. Here is a photo of the job: http://i.imgur.com/SKS4b.jpg
