Remodeling is never fun but Tom and his crew made it as easy as possible. He is fair, he communicates and does good work. They removed and replaced walls and flooring, added a window and built a lovely new bath. Super pleased with the quality of the work.

Tom Wright did an excellent job for us when he added a two car garage to our existing vacation house. It has a large bay that holds a boat on the trailer as well as a truck in the other bay and plenty of storage and workbench. He ran underground utilities to replace the overhead lines we had before, installed a new service panel and tied the garage roof into the house and re-roofed the house too. The new garage has great light because of the skylight he installed as well as windows. Tom worked well with us by contributing some great ideas and was very responsive when dealing with any changes. He also worked well with the building department, which is very important! We were so pleased with Tom that we will use him when we remodel our house next year.

Tom Wright was great to work with. Very respectful of our budget. Overall the quality of workmanship is excellent. Tom pays attention to details and offered suggestions that really helped make the house look good but did not cost a lot. There were a couple of change orders I added after the original proposal was signed that did increase the cost of the project. Tom did his best to keep those costs reasonable. I was more than comfortable with the additional costs. There were a couple of small glitches that I attribute to communication snafu... usually on my part. There was one error in ordering a window (wrong color) that Tom completely owned and corrected at no charge to me. I enjoy renovating and redecorating so I might have been a more hands-on client than others. Tom was willing to work with me on things like purchasing fixtures. I bought some things, he provided others. My husband and I are doing all the painting. Tom worked with our schedules so things that needed to be done by us could happen on the weekend and not hamper his schedule. He appreciates owner's sweat equity. We are very happy with the result. I highly recommend Tom Wright, Pyramid Remodeling & Construction
Description of Work: We renovated an 850sf rental propery. The project included new exterior doors, new flooring throughout, removing a window and closing up the wall, adding a closet, gutting and redoing the bathroom and kitchen, upgrading plumbing and electrical.

Very well. I was impressed from the beginning with the timeliness of the estimate process. It is common for service companies to say they will be at your house - and then never show up. Not only did Leo (a sub-contractor who works with/for Tom Wright) show up - he called to reschedule when there was a conflict. That is such a refreshing occurrence!! Once the quote was completed - the job was done in several weeks. I really expected it to be longer since it was not a big job. But - they were very responsive - even when a couple of changes were necessary. There were a couple of times that Tom or Leo didn't call back quickly - but that is to be expected - if they are busy. I felt that Tom listened to my questions and concerns about different issues. Overall - an excellent experience.

When I found out my house had structural rot, I was heartbroken. And, I knew I might be in big trouble if I didn't get some competent help with the repair. I got three estimates, but even before I compared the numbers I knew I wanted Pyramid to do the work. It was obvious that Tom knew more than the other two bidders, and it's always better to get the guy who knows what he's doing. On his first visit, we walked around the house together, and he stuck a screwdriver in every piece of trim to assess the extent of the rot. We talked about the house's orientation relative to the direction that storms come from, and the vulnerability of the house to weather given its particular design elements. Tom identified the flaws in workmanship that originally caused the leaks, and explained how to properly weather-seal and trim a house in the Northwest (I moved here from the desert). Working with Tom was a pleasure. He helped me with every decision: Hardi siding versus cedar; whitewood trim vs. cedar, new windows vs. reinstalling the old ones. We worked together on a new design for the rake trim and the roof venting, and both came out great. He convinced me to add a belly band to break up the monotony of the siding, and it looks fabulous. And, the porch roof he added to protect the south-facing entry door looks terrific. I cannot overemphasize what a pleasure it was to work with Tom from Pyramid Remodeling. I was in a tight spot with structural rot, and the guy totally bailed me out. I am grateful, and so proud of how my house looks now.
Description of Work: Removed all siding, roofing, windows and trim; repaired rot damage to structure, installed vapor barrier, flashed window openings, re-installed windows, installed new trim, added belly band, added porch to protect the rear entry door, installed all new siding and roofing.

This review was mistakenly posted to my account. I did do a small job for [member name removed] last year, and received a very favorable review, and enjoyed working with him. But I was not the contractor who did this mold remediation work for him--this is not the kind of work I do. Angie's List representatives tell me that this review may stay on my page for a long time before it can be removed, so I want to alert potential callers to the error, so you do not call me about mold remediation. Thanks, Tom

Tom Wright was involved in our project from the very beginning when he helped us make changes to our plan in order to create a better layout and capture some space that would have been wasted; to the end where his choice of paint colors put the beautiful finishing touches on what is -- astonishingly! -- an elegant and inviting basement. But you actually can't see most of the work that Tom did, because it's behind the walls and in the ceiling and floor. He took the place down to its concrete walls, added studs and insulation, with attention to preserving the proportions of the rooms. He reconfigured the jerry-rigged plumbing and repaired deteriorated drains; brought the electrical up to code; designed and built a new bathroom, a mini kitchen and a laundry nook. He selected and installed lighting and made sure that switches were located logically and handily. He custom-built cupboards for the bathroom, the kitchen and in the seating area. He did all of the tiling in the bathroom -- shower, floor and outside wall -- which required clever craftsmanship to accommodate the imperfections of the concrete wall. We love how the new part of our home looks. But for me, what is actually the most important, is knowing that everything was done right -- that Tom is knowledgeable, has encountered all sorts of complicated irregular situations in older homes, and is able to craft solutions that will be safe and durable. We have absolutely NO concern that we will discover some flaw down the road. Tom's competence, knowledge and extraordinary design sense are an unusual and important combination. We feel we were lucky to have had him to transform our basement.

Existing construction exceeded code and was very solid, so it did prove to be more challenging than expected. Not a quick knockdown. Counter had to be cut in sections for removal. Work done was average; a bit rough. Given the price paid, expectations were higher. Contractor was very pleasant and cleaned up the work area.

Tom went above and beyond in many ways. Despite a death in his family, Tom continued to work on our project. We never felt like he was doing anything but working for us. As with all remodels, there were surprises along the way. In tearing out the wall between the dining room and the kitchen he discovered a heat duct going upstairs to one of the bedrooms. Although it was possible to move it, it was not practical to, so Tom worked with us to redesign the project. Now, instead of an open room, we have a large open "window" between the two rooms and a nice breakfast bar was born. Tom took our cabinet where the old wall oven was and he cut it down to countertop height and installed two additional drawers into it. The biggest problem to overcome was with one of the appliances. I ordered a range hood designed for a ceiling that was at least 9 feel high. Our ceiling is closer to 7.5 feet high. Clearly cutting down the range hood to fit was not a part of his bid, that was my mistake. But Tom was a real trooper and cut it down to fit, working an additional half day or so and he did not charge us an extra penny! Best of all, you cannot tell that he modified it in any way. The glass backsplash we ordered is gorgeous and he did an excellent job of installing it as well as installing the pendent lights that were ordered to finish the project. The only thing he has left to do is to install the pullout drawers in our pantry. Tom's subcontractors (plumber and cabinet maker) were very friendly, professional and very good at their crafts. Tom was very good at cleaning up after himself and even hauled away the construction garbage that included the amazing amount of packaging from all the new appliances. He truly did go above and beyond and we couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Tom Wright came over to bid on our kitchen remodel and we were immediately at ease with him. He removed our old upper cabinets and sofits, opened a wall between the kitchen and dining room, installed the new dishwasher, range and range hood, and he installed the new backsplash. He also repaired some sheetrock boo-boos that we had in a couple other rooms.

The big bathroom project Tom did and every project he has done since has gone smoothly -- a stark contrast to a construction project we embarked on many years ago with a different contractor. Whenever we have a home-improvement need, we call on Tom, knowing we can trust him unconditionally to provide the finest craftsmanship for the fairest price. Tom's attention to detail is extraordinary -- especially for someone who's also a master at keeping his eye on the bigger picture. He always gives us sound advice and guidance on our projects when we ask. We're currently saving to have him work his tile magic on our basement at some point in the future so we can expand our capacity for overnight guests. I can confidently recommend Tom to friends who are looking for trustworthy, honest, and highly skilled builders/craftspeople for projects large or small.
Description of Work: Tom Wright did an amazing job creating our "dream" bathroom! He's an artist when it comes to tile work and cabinetry. He knew we wanted to do personal touches and so arranged to cut tiles in advance so we could paint them ourselves--we really appreciated his thoughtfulness with details like that. Tom helped us sort through reviews to find the most water- and energy-efficient plumbing fixtures and high-quality dual-flush toilet. All have performed great and been efficient and easy to clean. Tom was so great to work with, from start to finish, that I've subsequently hired him to make renovations to the kitchen of our mother-in-law unit, to build us mud rooms, and to do lots of other custom tile work around our house.

After an energy audit, my wife and I found we needed to install insulation in two bedrooms in our 1940 bungalow-style house. We called Tom Wright and we are glad we did. Tom is a good listener, and after hearing what we wanted examined the space, explained what was needed for the job and the steps involved. Tom was a good sounding board for our various ideas and together we arrived at a plan and grade of materials that fit our budget, and satisfied Tom's workmanship quality requirements. Tom quoted us an exact price and an exact time frame for when the job would start and finish. We had guests scheduled and it was important to have the rooms done in timelyfashion. In two bedrooms, Tom took out the old drywall, rewired for and installed new electric outlets, installed insulation, replaced the drywall, applied floor and ceiling moldings, and installed recessed lighting. The finished project was just very nicely done and we were quite pleased. And Tom did it all without leaving a mark on our newly refinished oak floors! Final price $ 4300.00. Tom could have also painted the moldings and walls, but as we had experience with painting he suggested we could save a few dollars if did that ourselves. Tom never tried to sell us extra work.We found Tom to be an honest, do-all contractor; a no-nonsense worker with a hand and eye for neat workmanship. He also has a good sense of humor and friendly personality. A good guy! When time comes due for a new roof, we will call Tom Wright.

Tom Wright does incredible work. I first worked with Tom in 2007 when he repaired some storm damage on my house. It was a big project and Tom repaired everything back to perfection. When we were ready to remodel our current home, we went directly to Pyramid Remodeling. This was a huge project. We were adding a second story to a 1953 home - expanding it from 900 square feet to nearly 3,000 square feet. Work started in August and we were finishing the floors in early December. It was, frankly, amazing that the project was done as quickly as it was. Tom did a fantastic job from coordinating the subcontractors to finishing our custom tile work. We are delighted with our home and the work that Tom did for us. When I need future construction work, I'm calling Tom first.

Tom just completed a major remodel for us, and the entire process from start-to-finish far exceeded our expectations. Tom and his crew (including his sub-contractors) all maintained a high-level of professionalism, punctuality, and cleanliness throughout the scope of our project. His attention to detail is a testament to the passion he brings to the job, no matter how big or small. This puts him in a category well above most other craftspeople. He is a real artist, and that is a rare thing to find these days. More important than anything stated above, Tom excels at one thing that makes all the difference in the world: communication. He was always prompt in his replies to our questions and took as long as we needed to explain the answers in full-detail, without skipping a thing. Tom (and everyone else on his crew for that matter) turned our experience into something my wife and I never expected when we set out to find a contractor: they made it an education into their trade. That's how thorough he is in his explanations in as far as we wanted to know about any aspect of the job. He understand that this level of communication is the key to having happy clients and I can't stress what a difference it made for making our remodeling a truly happy experience. Not only would we hire him again for our next home-improvement job, we can honestly say that we are looking forward to it. We are going to miss having him around. And now, we can say with full confidence that our house is the best-looking house on the block! :)

Tom came out, assessed the damage, and gave me an estimate in August. He performed the work, replacement of a rotted support post, as described. In the process he identified that the beam had come lose from the foundation and gave me a further estimate of the work required to reattach and add support that would make it more earthquake resistant. All assessment, estimating, and actual work was of the highest quality and performed in a timely manner. I have a number of significant construction and remodeling projects coming up in the next several years and intend to make Pyramid Remodeling and Construction my first contact for doing this work.

It was all good. Tom did a design for the deck/porch that made it much larger than what had been there before, and much more attractive. Tom was skillful in his work and quick. As usual (he's done other projects for us in the past), he was also highly personable as well as professional. We've now got a deck that's way sturdier than what had been there before, and much more attractive. We're very happy with the result.

The work was done efficiently and extremely well. It was impressive to see how work that we thought was basically intended to improve the look of the house also resulted in making our house safer. Pyramid is always very alert to things like structural issues and water proofing, which they address as part of their remodeling. They are easy to work with, reasonably priced, highly responsible and conscientious. They pride themselves on quality, leaving the customer with a result that is both sound and beautiful. We couldn't be happier and will always rely on them in the future.
Description of Work: We have relied upon Pyramid for several important remodeling jobs in our house over the years, including putting a closet and new ceiling in the master bedroom, and remodeling the kitchen and dining areas. Counters were redone and upgraded, a dishwasher was installed, new walls and windows were put in the dining area, etc. They also helped us fix portions of the house where there was some water and pest damage. In all, our house is both safer and much more beautiful as a result of all this work.
