He was professional but he stated after I had met with him to show the cabin/job that he would need to come back out the next day with his painter in order to get me an estimate as he does more artistic type paint work. I was frustrated by this as why did he not bring this other painter in the first place? We decided to "leave a key" for them to get back into the unit but this was irksome to me. I have gotten two other bids (also by licensed and bonded painters) who both gave me bids that were well over a 1/3 less than what the estimate I got from this vendor, which is why I gave the "D" for price. He was almost double their prices, however these 2 other bids were within $150 of each other. Also, the other two vendor's noted that the power was off (its vacant) which would mean a day or two with the heat on the "dry out the walls" for proper painting. John and I talked about the power being off but nothing about needing time for walls to dry off before starting - only that they would need "sunny days" in order for the paint to set and cure properly. Seemed like a nice guy, though.

John Swartley was wonderful to work with. He understood our budget and our needs for making our new house into a home. He was excellent on communication- emails and phone calls. He was professional and easy to talk to. John provided us with many options for our new home and we felt confident when choosing his services.
Description of Work: My husband and I purchased a foreclosure house that needed lots of repairs. There were large holes in the walls, dog scratches on the doors, and dog bite marks on the steps. The house interior was not to our liking. The majority of the walls were painted a dark brown. The kitchen was painted green and the bedrooms were painted blue. John Swartley painted the walls to a neutral color, patched the walls, fixed the steps without having to rip up and replace the boards, and created a textured wall to our foray. He was able to add plaster to the missing area and then hand painted the area to match the oak step. The before and after of those steps is amazing. We saved so much money on those steps by not having to replace them. He added an artistic approach to our foyer so that it looks marbleized.
