It took roughly a week and a 1/2 for Gary to do the work. He did the framing, sheetrock, mudding/texturing, baseboard trim, installed the door, moved electrical outlets and installed a ceiling light. We did the painting afterwards to save money. We were very pleased with the result. Gary's work is high quality and professional. He also provided some excellent suggestions for other ways to improve our house. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: We needed a wall built to create a new bedroom in our house which included a door. We also needed a closet built in the new bedroom.

I've seen Gary's work in a friend's home. It was excellent. I was disappointed that he never returned our messages.
Description of Work: Gary came out to see what our project was, told us he could do each of the things we asked, and then never returned a bid. I left 2 phone messages, but did not hear back from him.

We wanted to replace an aging deck but had little idea what we wanted. Gary provided an excellent suggestion that we accepted. The deck was finished quickly and professionally and exceeded our expectations. We have used Gary on several occasions and have always been impressed with the outcome. We intend to continue to use his services as projects arise and we give him the highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Last job was to build a deck overlooking the backyard. Gary has done several additional jobs over the past year for us.

Gary was good to work with, responsive, easy to work with, honest and direct on what he would / could do and what he could not. His bid and final costs matched well and he was very good at letting me know about potential costs ahead of time. He started and ended on time and quickly. I would be happy to do business with him again.

After he sent me the bid, I called him to tell him that I was going to hire him to do the project and asked him about his availability. He told me it was an easy 2-day project, and he could squeeze us in anytime. I called back a week later to tell him that we had it narrowed down to two tiles but wanted to know how the 2 tiles affected our price since he quoted us at 5$/sq ft and one tile was quite a bit more and the other quite a bit less. Also the shower tile that he wanted us to use on the shower floor (we wanted to do an acrylic pan) was 13$ a square foot and no where near the 5$ we were quoted. I left 4 messages on 3 phone numbers I had for him over the course of 3 weeks. He wouldn't call back. That is until he heard from someone that I mentioned I was going to write a review on Angie's List. Once he heard that, after 3 weeks of not returning any calls, I suddenly got a call from him in one day. He left a very rude message on my home phone saying that he heard I was going to leave a bad review, and to go ahead and do it "if it makes you feel better" and that I would "be the first to give him a bad review." It was an entirely unnecessary experience. If he didn't want to do the project at any point, it would have taken a quick courtesy phone call to tell me this. Instead, I wasted a month of my summer with my bathroom ripped up thinking that he was going to do the project he agreed to do. If you don't mind being left high and dry, take your shot on Gary.
Description of Work: I had Gary out to my home to bid on a bath remodel project. He mailed me a a bid in the mail to install a tile shower and do some other minor things to go along with the project. He disappeared after we talked on the phone and I told him I was going to hire him. He also left a rude message on my phone weeks later.

Went really well. I wish I would have remembered to take "before" pictures! Gary is as friendly as he is professional, and at no time were we uncomfortable with his presence, professionalism, craftsmanship, and expertise. I hope to bring him back soon for more finishing work. Tear-out of an existing short-wall and a floor-to-ceiling wall that wrapped around our wood-stove went smoothly. In the attached photo you can see the footprint of the wall and how good of a job he did repairing, muddling, and re-texturing the ceiling afterward. He also moved the (super-heavy) wood-stove out to the garage, removing the stovepipe and repairing that hole in the ceiling, too. Replacement of all the doors (3 rooms; 2 bathrooms; 3 closets; and 1 garage-to-kitchen door) went very smoothly, and as you can see in the photographs, look great. (In hindsight we would have had them painted prior to installation.) Our old master bedroom closet was a BEAR to get into, so we had Gary widen it considerably from a 2-door system to a 3-door system. (Again, in hindsight, we would've also gone with a 3-track system instead of a 2-track system. Although Gary's work was meticulous and detailed, we hate the fact that we always have 2-doors bumping into each other now, and sadly, are looking for a replacement set of doors and rails. Money down the drain. But again, Gary's work was really nice. Loved how he wood-wrapped the entire opening of the door.) The bathroom pocket door is a HUGE stress saver. Having it installed opened up our bedroom a little bit while also dampening the bathroom noise from those who might still be sleeping. And again, the wood-wrapping looks great. All tear-out; clean-up; trim replacement; etc. went really well . . .
Description of Work: Replaced all existing interior doors; widened master bedroom closet from a 2-door to a 3-door system; replaced hinged door of our master bedroom with a sliding pocket door; removed an interior wall and wood-stove.

Workmanship was top notch, Gary is a real pro. He was prompt and got the job done sooner than the agreed upon date. I rated two areas a "B": 1) Correspondence was via cell phone and the quote came via US Post. I would have like to seen the quote sooner via email. 2) Price was fair, I had a lower quote but Gary promised he could get it finished by the time I needed... and he delivered. I will be contracting Gary and his crew for more work.
Description of Work: Gary replaced a 200 foot long cedar fence with 6' slats and true 4x4 posts. He tore down the old fence, discarded the debris, and placed the new fence in the same spot, right along the property line. His workmanship was top notch and you could notice the little details that, obviously took more time and attention, but made the whole project spectacular.

Gary framed the closet and installed drywall inside the closet and outside where needed. He was very diligent in ensuring the walls were smooth and textured appropriately to match the existing wall. He installed a closet light, light switch, door and door hardware that matched other interior doors, and laid carpet. He kept his work area clean and provided us regular updates on his progress. He was responsive, dependable, and courteous. Gary has great attention to detail. He noted some exterior problems with our home and brought these to our attention, for which we are grateful. Gary performed all the carpentry and electrical work, but we did the painting, as we agreed upon at the outset of the project. This worked fine for us. We will definitely call on Gary again for handyman work.

Mr Glover came by on Tuesday, February 12th, and looked at the jobs to be done (below). He seemed like a very nice gentleman, with lots of experience. He was concerned about the amount of time it would take him to remove the old caulk in the bathroom and suggested it that I do it as a way to save money. I took his concern as genuine and agreed. 1 - repair or replace garden gate - Mr Glover recommended replacing, we agreed. Mr Glover to make and install. 2 - re-caulk shower and around bathtub (2 jobs). Mr Glover asked me to remove old caulk and he would redo, agreed. 3 - examine back and front door trim. Mr. Glover offered suggestions, told me what to do, agreed. 4 - remove and replace a blown light bulb in difficult area above stairs. Mr Glover offered suggestions (he doesn't like heights), we agreed to try but would come back to him if not successful. 5 - examine and repair cementing at base of house where house meets porch. Mr Glover suggested watching over the next 6 months to make sure settlement finished and he would then fill gaps, agreed. He quoted a very reasonable figure for doing the gate and shower/bathtub so we hired him. It is now March 5th and despite phone calls we have heard nothing back.

I am naive. I got a few internet estimates from a few other people; gary is the only one to come out to check and bid. It was not high, not low but he had a good rating and was the only one to come out for a personal visit. I forgot to take into account that his bid was the same as everyone else's BUT did not include painting (so therefore was expensive in comparison). Gary took awhile to return for understandable personal reasons but got here. Took two people and two days to "complete" but he chose not to replace the 2-3' of boards he had been asked to replace above the siding nor did he caulk everything he had said he would (both of which he was paid to do and included in his estimate). I also realized I did not get the discount as advertised. I had been wondering WHY my cats had been getting out lately - I built them an enclosure in the rear yard. Just found out how tonight when I found Gary took down the portion attached to the house and didn't notice the board bolted into the siding was also BURIED 6 inches. When he bolted it back to the house, he didn't bother to bury it back. The cats have been getting out under the fence where he left a 4-6" gap against the house. I am just lucky the cats were not run over but now, $350 worth of paint and a weekend to complete that work and now another day to be spent taking apart the bolting from the side of the house and putting the fencing back the way it was without the gaps he left. Not pleased; I expected more attention to detail.
Description of Work: Work included removing older siding from one side of house, take out 10' of water damaged wall studs, replace damaged studs, replace vapor barrier, insulation and all siding with better grade of siding. Caulk all gaps and replace 2-3' of other boarding above siding. Include taking off fencing (bolted to side of house) and replacing it after siding replaced. I also asked him for a estimate to put on an addition but he has never gotten back me.
