+ -1 moreMr Johnston was very professional, straightforward and informative about my options. He outlined all of my options, rather than just the most expensive. One of his recommendations was to just clean and repair it, rather than reroof it, as my existing roof still had life left in it. All other contractors that bid my job felt the only option was to reroof. I chose to reroof it for resale reasons. Franzen was by far the most reasonable bid of the four companies I sought bids from. The work started and completed exactly when he said it would, and the workers cleaned up very well after each day of work. They were sensitive to our needs throughout the six-day project. The roof looks great! I could not be more pleased with the service from Franzen and would not hesitate to use them again!
Description of Work: Franzen Brothers did my reroof project on my home and I am very pleased with the overall result. I live in an area of high-end homes which originally had shake roofs now needing replacement. Franzen has done several of my neighbors' homes and they all have been very satisfied with their work and price. My job was a complete wood shingle tear-off of a complex 12/12 pitch 2-story hip roof of a 3700 sq foot home. It required sheeting the entire roof, and then installing Lifetime GAF architectural shingles.

+ -1 moreOverall, my experience was totally unsatisfactory. I waited from 7 AM to 2 PM for work that was to be done and quot;in the morningand quot;. When cancelling the job because the worker did not show as agreed, I was berated by the company owner - for his scheduling failure.
Description of Work: Mr. Michael Johnston, the owner of Franzen Brothers Roofing, had agreed by phone to have people available the following morning to have zinc sulfate applied to my roof (before it started to rain in the afternoon). I waited from 7 AM to 2 PM then called and left a message that I had waited long enough (morning is morning - not AFTER noon or later). Johnston called me back and initially denied our earlier agreement. When paying $100.00 for not more than 15 minutes work, with me providing the product to be applied, the least they could do was call to say something had prevented them from complying with the agreement, and scheduling another apointment. I would hire someone more dependable. At that point the owner went into a tirade about how my job was the least important of all the work that needed to be accomplished. While his statement may be correct, he suggested the date and time for the work to be done. Poor time management is his problem, not mine. His professionalism was zero when disagreed with. If you have other options, I suggest you not use Franzen Brothers Roofing of Olympia, WA.
