After stringing us along for a whole month, Tim Dickey told us that our project of adding a cabinet to our kitchen was too small of a job for him and also too much of a hassle. For a whole month, he kept telling us that he was waiting to hear from his suppliers to be able to price the project and then he suddenly decided to drop us rudely. I suggest that you don’t waste your time with this company. Find someone who is more honest.

Description of Work: Replaced my shower. By far the best price and a friendly guy. However, the finish work was below average and it took almost a month to get the job finished.

Last October (2014) we had Dickey's repair some window trim and replace some rotting corner trim. Although the workers appeared -initially - to know what they were doing issues emerged shortly into the job and continue to emerge 9- months later. At the end of the second day - when they were finished with replacing the first section of corner trim, I went to inspect the work. I found caulking (see attached pictures that were emailed to Dickey's) that can only be described as slapdash, amateurish, and sloppy. The technique appears to have been 2 staged: 1) lay down a large sloppy bead, 2) smear the bead along the seam and out onto the board as far as necessary to get rid of the calk glob. Eventually I had to scrape off all the caulk that Dickey's employees smeared onto the side of my house and reapply the caulk (6 hr of work). Dickey's still charged me for the application of the caulk and made no adjustment to the bill for my inconvenience. Also, attached is a photo of a seam AFTER I repaired and caulked Dickey's work. One of the pieces of corner trim that we asked Dickey's to repair had rotted because the previous contractor had installed the trim with the bottom edge resting on the rooftop. Dickey's did the same thing (see picture, also sent to Dickey's), installing the trim so that the bottom edge rested on the rooftop. Dickey's agreed to make the repair, I waited on a Saturday at the scheduled time, Dickey's cancelled, and I had another contractor fix Dickey's work. As we were preparing our windows for painting this summer, we discovered that the window trim installed by Dickey's was also flawed. The"journeyman" carpenter had cut the side trim too long. As a result there was a 3/16" gap between the trim and sheathing at the bottom of the molding that tapered up to "no gap" at the top of the molding. In other words, the molding was not flush against the sheathing because the worker cut the trim to long. Rather than trim the board to size, he smeared a thin coat of caulk over the gap. In July 2015, Dickey's sent someone out to confirm that the installation was faulty and to reinstall the molding. Prior to their arrival, I purchased the molding and prepped it with 3 nice coats of paint. During the installation, the employee: 1. Dropped and broke one of my pieces of molding 2. Lost control of his 5-in-1 scraper and made 6 inch scratch in some newly installed Hardie Plank (see picture, sent to Dickey's) 3. Lost control of his hammer and bashed in the window trim in two places (see pictures, sent to Dickey's) 4. Did not caulk the inside on the mitered joints to seal the seam from the inside Dickey?s offered to send someone else out to re-do the trim for the third time (once again making no adjustment to the bill for their errors and my inconvenience). How many people does it take to install a couple pieces of window trim? If you?re Dickey?s: A ?journeyman? carpenter, an ?apprentice carpenter? and a production manager. How many times does it take to do it correctly ? We?ll never know.

Description of Work: I had a leaky downstairs bedroom window beneath a deck and directly underneath the kitchen. No contractor I had contacted was able to diagnose the problem. Some even suggested disassembling the walls to find the problem. Dickey's personnel, however, after thoroughly studying the problem and consulting several experts among their staff, correctly diagnosed the problem, walked me through the proposed remediation, and then during the repair, explained and demonstrated every step of the procedure as it was being performed. Superb. Furthermore, their personnel were personable, punctual and thoroughly professional. I would highly recommend them and use them again.
