I was convinced that the drywall had to be removed (not true, it didn't have to be removed). I cannot get over how shoddy the workmanship is every time I paint this wall/ceiling, so I decided to finally write a review. 1) the wall is wavy 2) the texture doesn't match 3) the drywall was cut too short, so they caulked about a 1/2" gap between the wall and the ceiling 4) the inside corners are crooked and the mud is glopped on 5) they left the wall behind the heater untextured, unprimed, unpainted 6) they cut out part of the underlayment for the carpet and didn't replace it 7) they left a visible seam in the ceiling where they did a poor job taping and didn't even try to apply the popcorn thick enough to match the rest of the ceiling Basically, the room is ruined because of their lousy drywall job, which cost THREE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS?!? I'm not a drywaller and even *I* could've done a better job than this.

I've had to reach out to another contractor to assess the job that was done and he suggested reaching out to Clean Green Restoration to come make this right. I've tried multiple times to get in contact with them and they aren't answering or returning my calls. If they don't come out to fix this, I will be out all of my money and will have to start back at square one and have someone else come in and fix it.
Description of Work: They came in for mold remediation as well as all other work that comes with this process. They promised all mold would be extracted and removed and all moisture would be removed from the area. I had to pay half down before the work and the other half when it was finished. I was told they would come back and run tests to make sure the mold and moisture was gone completely and when they put the floors back down they didn't seal it and it looks horrible. They did not do the job correctly.

Response from Clean Green Restoration
After finishing the project, the member was asked to look at the work completed, he stated at that time that he was happy with the job but wanted to know if he could pay less then the agreed upon price. When he was asked why, he said he was retired and needs the money. We were called about a week after the job, Richard stated that the sub-floor we installed was 3/16 of an inch off, we knew this wasn't true but thought maybe it had pulled up for some reason, so we returned to the job to inspect and correct any issue. When the tech arrived, we found and showed him that the very small lip in one corner would not even show on a tape measure. The tech took five minutes to sand the corner down and didn't leave until Richard okayed the work. We received another call a few days later with the member stating that he had a drywall company come in and they said the drywall was not done correctly and that we sprayed water to get rid of the mold. He also stated that there was a moisture stain in the middle of the floor where we did not do any work. He also stated that we brought moisture ants into his home. Of course, we did not bring moisture ants into his home, they were there when we did the initial work due to the leak he had. We did not work on the sub-floor area where he is saying there is an issue. As far as the drywall, we made him a one time offer purely because he was complaining to refund $450 simply to try and resolve the complaint but he refused and said he wanted a complete refund and hung up the phone. In doing so, the refund is no longer an offer and we do not feel he will be satisfied until he gets all of his money back, which is his real intent. As we all know, when there is moisture there can be ants, we did not quote for nor do we supply the service of pest removal, the job we were paid to do is the job that we did.

The chimney repairs failed to function. The “repaired” areas continue to leak. In the attic, the wet, moldy, contaminated material was left there un-bagged, leaving a health hazard to our family. The debris from the chimney repair was left on the roof, and the plaster dust on the stairwell was not cleaned up. My husband cleaned up the repair debris himself. The Clean Green co-owners were not responsive to our concerns. No final job walk-through took place. Post-remediation evaluation did not take place, leaving the quality and efficacy of the remediation in doubt. Industry standards were not met. Here are further details: Chimney: • The repairs made by Clean Green Restoration failed to function. When it has rained since the repair, fresh water goes down the chimney and through the flashing and into the attic. My husband had to wrap the chimney and flashing in plastic tarp so that the rain won’t get in. • Flashing still needs repair; without the plastic tarp, rain passes through • The intent of the remediation was to remove the white stains on the brick, however, the stains have come back due to ineffective flashing allowing rain to run down the bricks • My husband contacted on e of the owners two weeks after the job completion, regarding rain descending down the chimney and entering the attic. The owner replied that “everybody’s roof is leaking with these rains.” Neither the owner no anyone came out to look at it. • My husband called the co-owner at Clean Green on 1/5/15 to tell her what occurred. She asked “is the flashing leaking?” He said “yes.” He told her that he was wrapping large bath towels around the chimney base in the attic to mop up the water leaking in. At that time he told her the water had not reached the sheetrock. After this call, we did not hear back from Clean Green Restoration. To date, no one has come out to check or fix the leaking problem. • We were not informed by the Clean Green technicians, while they were working on the chimney that we had a cracked crown, and they went forward and attached the new rain cap to it anyways. • The new rain cap was attached incorrectly/poorly to the crown with only adhesion. • We have been unable to use our fireplace since Clean Green did the work due to these problems and the tarp wrapped around the chimney outside. • Recently we had 3 different professionals come out to inspect and assess the chimney and flashing. This is what they reported: o “Chimney Reflash – Flash appears to be tight to chimney, however the corners are suspect. Recommend seal flashing gaps.” o “The counter flashing on the chimney appears to be installed incorrectly. Recommend that the chimney be inspected by a qualified mason before re-roofing.” o “Existing crown cracked & poorly done. No expansion joints installed around the flue. Recommend new crown. Black rain cap over vacant flue not attacked correctly. Cap secured with adhesion.” Roof Vent • Vent was not repaired adequately. Water leaks through hole after rainfall. • The intent of the remediation near the vent was to return the wood stained by water to its original state without stains, however, the stains have returned. Attic • The wet, moldy, contaminated insulation was not cleaned up, bagged, or properly removed by the Clean Green Restoration repair technicians. • The Clean Green Restoration technicians mounded the wet, moldy, contaminated insulation and left it in an open pile in the attic. It was not bagged nor removed from out home. This contaminated material still remains open to the air in the attic. • According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), regarding mold cleanup methods: “Discard, remove water-damaged materials and seal in plastic bags while inside of containment, if present. Dispose of as normal waster. HEPA vacuum area after it is dried.” http://www2.epa.gov/mold/mold-remediation-schools-and-commercial-buildings-guide • According to “A Brief Guide to Mold, Moisture and Your Home” by The United States EPA: “How do I know when the remediation or cleanup is finished? You must have completely fixed the water or moisture problem before the cleanup or remediation can be considered finished. You should have completed mold removal. Visible mold and moldy odors should not be present. Please note that mold may cause staining and cosmetic damage. You should have revisited the site(s) shortly after cleanup and it should show no signs of water damage or mold growth. People should have been able to occupy or re-occupy the area without health complaints or physical symptoms.” http://ww2.epa.gov/mold/brief-fuide-mold-moisture-and-your-home • According to OSHA “A Brief Guide to Mold in the Workplace” Mold Remediation/Cleanup Methods, Disposal of Damaged Materials: “Building materials and furnishings contaminated with mold growth that are not salvageable should be placed in sealed impermeable bags or closed containers while I the remediation area…It is important to package mold-contaminated materials in this fashion to minimize the dispersion of mold spores.” https://www.osha.gov/dts/shib/shib101003.html • According to Chapter 10 of Fungal Contamination: A Comprehensive Guide for Remediation, Second Edition: “Enforce work procedures that emphasize a clean-as-you-go approach…Bag all waste immediately rather than allowing it to pile up on the floor.” http://www.survivingmold.com/legal-resources;environmental • The Clean Green Job Description states: “All material will be properly disposed of per industry standards.” It was not. • The damaged insulation: o Was contaminated with mold o Was moldy, left in the attic, out in the open causing long-term exposure in the attic and creating an environmental health hazard o Without implementing proper disposal standards, attic mold remediation was nullified o It still needs to be removed and disposed of according to industry standards o It remains a health hazard to our family o The area in the attic lacks properly functioning insulation now o Clean Green Restoration did not replace the removed insulation Dinette • The top left cabinet has had a foul smell since completion of the job. The area is right below where rain descended down the chimney’s sides onto the insulation and underlayment surrounding the chimney in the attic. Stairwell • Fresh plaster dust covered the stairs because the Clean Green technicians did not clean up after they finished the work. My husband had to vacuum it himself. • My husband contacted the owner the next day regarding the plaster dust in the stairwell. Overall job concerns • Since the job completion, no on-site final walk-through of the work has taken place. • No post-remediation evaluation has taken place. This and the problems listed above show that the work done at our home by Clean Green Restoration did not meet professional standards for the repairs and mold remediation. Clean Green left us with failed repairs, continued water leakage, damage, mold, contaminated material, and a health hazard to our family.
Description of Work: We hired Clean Green Restoration to repair our chimney, flashing, and roof vent, as well as to repair and remediate the resulting water damage and mold in the attic, pantry in the dinette, and stairwell. On the chimney, they repaired the flashing, installed a new cap, wire brushed failing grout and repaired the adjacent leaking roof vent. In the attic, they removed water and mold saturated insulation from their place abutting the chimney; repaired water-stained chimney bricks, framing structures, and plywood flooring area; and sprayed Cal-Brite to kill mold in remediation area. In the dinette pantry the treated it with Cal-Brite. In the stairwell they removed and discarded affected sheetrock; installed and sanded new sheetrock and plaster; and sprayed Cal-Brite to kill mold in the remediation area. They ran engineered air controls and used a HEPA-Vac to capture and extract mold spores.

Response from Clean Green Restoration
Our technician was 25 minutes early to the appointment and called this member multiple times but didn’t receive an answer so was unable to enter the gated community. This member did speak with our office staff on more them one occasion and was very verbally abusive to the office staff. He requested a full refund and did not request a rescheduled appointment. We did speak with Angieslist and let them know the situation and that this member wanted a full refund which he was given. We did and do apologize that we were unable to complete our scheduled appointment time, due to lack of access. Our technician was onsite 25 minutes early at the office of the gated community and called and left multiple voice mails for the membertelling him his location. Our office also sent him a message through Angieslist letting him know the tech was onsite but couldn't gain access through the gates. He waited 25 minutes past appointment time to try to gain access but as unable to get past the gate. We try very hard to make all of our appointments on time and keep in contact with our customers before and after our appointments but without access to the property itself (because it’s a gate community) we were unable to complete our task.

I found signs of mold on a wall in a home in Olympia that I rent out. It was built in 1972 and is surrounded by huge trees, so I was concerned that the visible mold was an indicator of a larger problem. I felt a special urgency because I had new renters moving in within the next two weeks. I found Clean Green Restoration through Angie's List and called them. The receptionist was extremely personable and helpful, and arranged an appointment for the next day. Melvin arrived at the house right on time. He listened carefully to my concerns and addressed each of them thoroughly and professionally. We walked all through the house, with me pointing things out and Melvin inspecting and testing. And all the while he was patient and personable and knowledgeable. After 30 minutes or so, I felt like I had a much greater understanding of different kinds of mold to look for, where and how it is likely to appear, and which types are toxic. Melvin concluded that I did not have a serious mold problem and told me how to treat the surface mold spots on the wall safely and effectively. Feeling very relieved (I was imagining hundreds or thousands of dollars of damage behind my walls), I asked Melvin if I should pay him for the house call then or wait for him to send me a bill. His answer? "No charge." While I did not require an estimate to remediate my mold issue, I have no doubt that the estimate would have been fair and the work would have been thorough and of the highest quality.

Description of Work: They remediated mold in the laundry room and in the crawl space, removed and replaced affected drywall, taped and applied paint. I appreciate their careful methods of sealing off the affected area while working and running a multi-stage HEPA filter in the work area to avoid having mold spores becoming airborne and going to other areas of the house. The technicians are very pleasant and knowledgable. This job comes with a 25 year guarantee. I would definitely use them again.

I would highly recommend Clean Green Restoration for any mold job. I had three quotes and for what they did it was the obvious choice. Two of the other quotes were way over the top. The owner was very knowledgeable and professional, and was on the job making sure everything was done right. As this was new to me, he took the time to explain everything in depth to me. He was very personable and respectful! Thanks Christine Mckay
