Russell was able to diagnose the problem very quickly after he arrived. Couple of wires evidently shorted out after the first visit of another tech, causing the heat pump to stop working. Just one of those things.

We have a maintenance contract with Black Hills which includes a twice yearly filter change and annual inspection of the heat pump and components. I let Black Hills know that I wasn't satisfied with the last two inspections for a couple of reasons, and Kyle, Service Manager, contacted me to make it right. He scheduled Travis, a senior service technician, to come out to do inspection. Travis came out today and is friendly and knowledgeable, explained what he was doing and answered questions about the units. He confirmed part of the findings of the maintenance tech who had done the last two inspections (the condensers could fail soon, but didn't confirm others. He was also able to diagnose the reason for the icing up of the unit (missing refrigerant) and recharged the system, although at this time it is not possible to tell what the cause of the lack of refrigerant is. As a Silver Club member, I received a discount for the repairs, which ended up costing $99 for each of the two condensers and $99 to recharge the refrigerant. The service call is included in the monthly fees that we pay. Based on the few interactions I've had with the folks at Black Hills, I've found that the service technicians are knowledgeable and competent, but the maintenance technicians with whom I've dealt either need more training or have a hard time explaining their findings. I've suggested that the rework their service contracts (club memberships) and Kyle is looking into that, so that the customer has a better idea of what is included. It would be worthwhile to alternate service calls, so that a maintenance tech comes every second time in order to better be able to diagnose any potential problems. All-in-all I'm very satisfied that they responded to my criticism and suggestions and I can recommend Black Hills to others.

I was very impressed from the phone operator to the technician. Very professional and easy to set the appointment. Price was extremely reasonable compared to another company that I contacted that tried to charge more than double the cost just to diagnose the problem. I will definitely continue to use Black Hills Inc for my future needs.

This is the first time we have used Black Hills. Dan lambert was here on time and di a great job. He caught a potential carbon monoxide problem and repaired it. He also gave us a carbon monoxide monitor which now gives us two. Dan was very personable and professional and answered all question to my satisfaction. We will use them again.

It has always been a delight to work with Black Hills office and field staff. The techninician Morgan was professional and cleaned all components of the heater unit per annual contract including the the inside barrel unit though it took a while longer to remove and clean. This cleaning should help reduce heating expenses.

In one of our homes, we realized our water heater/furnace were over 20 years old. Evan was great in his explanation and installation. Dan Lambert as Furnace Technician was so professional and through in his review of our equipment. Then as a part needed update, he worked with his supervisor to get us update. All the front line team, Loranzo in sales and Roy the electrician included were just hard working folks and dedicated to what they do as were the customer service of Brittney, Jessie and Darby. But as Black Hills grows, one consideration is cross training.

I have used Black Hills Heating and Air now for 2 years. They were the service providers that installed the AC unit in the house I purchased. Since then I have had them not only handle the AC but the entire heater and all cleaning services. They have the best customer service, best service and are always on time/early. I would 100% recommend them to anyone.

They are always extremely pleasant both on the phone and in person. Servicemen are always very professional, will answer questions to where I can understand. They seem to be able ti immediately diagnose the issues and repair quickly. They are also very careful to leave the worksite clean.

My ancient unit posed some real challenges. CJ was really great about everything.

Went well - they gave me suggestions on when my units would need to be replaced and showed me where my unit was having issues, but I didn't feel any pressure to buy now.

System was checked, cleaned and filter changed.

We have used them several times over the years and always found them helpful and reliable. We like their service where they come out on a regular basis and change the air filters for free. We also have had them modify the ducting to more evenly heat the house.

We have been happy with their work. We like their service of changing the filters twice a year. We also had them change the ductwork to make our heating more even.

The whole process was really really good from start to finish. The service/sales person was super thorough and honest (he spent 2+ hours with us in order to give a quote - measuring windows, asking questions, etc). He understood the needs of our 100+ year old house and didn't try to upsell us anything. They were able to do the work in less than a week from giving the quote. Everyone we've dealt with - including phone reps - have been friendly and ready to help. Our service tech Jake was amazing - prompt, professional and friendly. As per usual with our house, things seem to take longer than expected but he stuck at it until the job was complete. We are extremely pleased with the whole process and would highly recommend Blackhills.

The visit went very well. The technician showed up, checked out the intermitent problem, but wasn't able to isolate the cause. He made some adjustments, and so far the problem hasn't reoccurred.

Very responsive, caring company. They stand by their products and installs. I have a monthly contract with them that includes cleaning and filters. It’s cheaper than buying 2 filters!

Seemed like they had problems with their tools. Took extra time to figure out how to get them to work. Maybe it happened because one of the workers was in training. When they told me I needed some parts replaced I had a hard time believing them since my unit was working fine and they couldn't tell me about some of the parts I asked questions about. Next I was told that their service plan if I joined, the parts I needed would be cheaper. I didn't feel comfortable and felt pressured so I passed on the offer.

Examined the old furnace and repairs recommended during recent annual tune-up. Provided guidance regarding the urgency of any repairs/replacement. Thoroughly discussed the offer for installing a new system. Very knowledgeable and clear in explanations.

They are a really excellent company. There was no charge, it is part of the plan we bought with the installation. They also change the filters. Yes, I will continue to use them. They are a local company. Their professionalism as far as their installation, their customer service are some of the top things about their company.
