SUTTER PAVING

The crew arrived on time. They were friendly, easy to deal with, and very service focused. My invisible fence wire went under the asphalt; needless to say, the jackhammer sliced it. They carefully removed it, placed it down again before paving, reconnected it, and had me test it. It turned out that one reason for my cracked skirt was that a previous owner had paved over a stump. As it rotted, it allowed the asphalt to crumble. Sutter removed the stump. They shaped the contours of the asphalt well, to leave smooth interfaces to all surrounding areas.

I contacted Sutter Paving for two reasons: 1. Their very high rating on Angie's List, and 2. My daughter and her husband had used Sutter for driveway repair and were very pleased with their work. When I called the company I got a fast reply from Jay, the estimator. He arranged to look over the job and give me an estimate, which he did in a timely manner. I own a small motor home which I keep in the driveway so I arranged for Sutter to do the paving job while I was out of town with the motor home. When I returned I was very happy with the results and the look of my new driveway. I had previously had bricks lining the driveway at the edge of the lawn. Frankly, it was kind of a messy looking sight. The crew carefully removed the bricks and thoughtfully stacked them in several locations, then extended the driveway width a bit to include that brick space. That made the whole scene a lot cleaner and nicer looking. I liked that touch of care and consideration.

The overall job went very well. My husband and I had been wanting to get our driveway paved for quite some time. (Thankfully we read the Angie's list recommendations and ratings of the different companies, and decided to go with Sutter Paving). When we called to request an estimate they were prompt and accommodating. Leonard came out did the estimate and explained everything that needed to be done and was very thorough. Our driveway was gravel with a lot of weeds; water would stand in areas which kept more weeds growing. We scheduled the paving for the first part of Aug. because we had a RV trailer in the driveway, but my sister was coming out to get it so we decided to make sure we scheduled the work after the trailer was off the property. Once my sister headed south with the trailer I called to reschedule to Friday, July 20. The company scheduled us for that date. They came out earlier in the week to grade; level and grade somemore. On the Wednesday before the scheduled work on Friday they had a job that was postponed so they called us to see if we were available to go ahead and do the work Thursday vs Friday. We were ready for them...turns out it worked out GREAT because we had heavy rains on Friday. They showed up at 8:00am just as they said. When they were completely done...our driveway looks great. (All the workers were very professional, but very friendly). I will be recommending this company to anyone who needs/wants paving done. We did pay more than what was quoted from other companies, but the way things were explained with the quote and why they would perform the job as explained it just sounded like we would get a much better driveway. Thanks to Angie's List we found our company.

They were highly rated on anot a website and we were very happy with their service. I got other estimates but I decided to go with Sutter beacuse of the price and qaulity.

I called asking for an estimate to seal-coat our driveway (which looked like it had been neglected for a while), and Jay, the estimator, came out very promptly. An estimate was emailed to me within days. Jay called to follow up to make sure that I had gotten it, and if I had any questions. I had questions regarding how the work was going to be done, the time frame within which the work could be accomplished, and how long we would need to stay off the driveway. Jay addressed all of those over the phone quickly. We waited until the weather was decent (in Seattle, that meant just a light drizzle!) and a guy came out to dig up parts of the driveway that had cracked, and he patched it up nicely. When the end of May came around, and there was a stretch of nice, sunny days, the seal-coat guy came and seal-coated our driveway. They power washed it for us before applying the seal-coat. Driveway looks great!

An estimate was given promptly (without me needing to be there). The estimator (Jay) called me when he was on site to be sure of the area to be paved, and to work out any details. The driveway is fairly long @375 ft., and has a good slope, so this was not an average driveway job. I asked the city if we needed special permits, and was told that the job did not require that. Jay thought that we did and called the city himself, and found that I was not given the correct information. I wasn't happy about having to pay the extra $300 for a permit (to the city), but I would have been even less happy if the city stopped us in the middle of the job, and had to pay a fine. I'm glad they didn't try to cut corners -- that tells you something about the company. We had to wait several weeks to find dry weather, but there was very good communication each time we tried to set the date. When the day finally came, the crew arrived on time and got right to work -- no wasted time or effort. Everyone was polite and courteous and the foreman did a good job listening to what I expected to be done. The job was done by mid afternoon, everything was cleaned up, and the crew left as quickly as they came. No one even asked for payment! I wish that all of our home improvement jobs went this smoothly -- I highly recommend Sutter Paving.

They were excellent and I highly recommend them. They were very fair and prompt. They got the job done well and I was happy. I was very pleased with them. Their attitude was helpful, positive and cooperative.

The whole experience with Leonard Sutter was positive from beginning to end. Leonard was responsive, punctual, resonably priced, highly professional as was his entire crew and very efficient. It is obvious that he has well-defined processes and a well-trained team that executed very well.

Prior to the start of the project Leonard Sutter (owner) met with us on 2 occasions to ensure that we were all on the same page so far as the scope of the job was concerned. We also met with the foreman Lynn to discuss the project. Due to weather we asked that the job be delayed until there were at least 2 days of good weather. Leonard was more than willing to wait and see. Lynn and his crew arrived precisely on time and started the excavation. The project went picture perfect. After discovering some soft areas; they pointed them out to us and explained to both my wife and me the situation and the remedy. I was quite impressed with the entire crew and how well they worked as a team. After discovering the source of the "wet spot" at the top of the driveway during the french drain excavation, James pointed it out to me and assured me this will become a "non problem". The paving went as perfect as one could expect. They tested to ensure that water was draining properly toward the catch basin and it did as near perfect as could be. They added extra asphalt in areas that needed shoring up and the paving job also went perfect. Sutter Paving pays attention to detail but they also pay attention to long term effects to ensure that the job holds up over time. This is a great company to do business with. One could not ask for more. We love our new driveway.

Bought the house recently and it required a lot of fixing. Looked up Angies list and talked to a few contractors about the driveway replacement and other works. Sutters reputation on Angies? list convinced us to go with this company. Called Sutters and they sent an estimator to give me a quote. Changed my design and the owner (Leonard) came up and did a second estimate. Leonard was very friendly and knowledgeable. After talking to him, I started with driveway replacement only and ended up adding a lot of other services. He also recommended a contractor for the concrete sidewalk replacement. That contractor did an estimate but didn't honor the estimate and asked for more when they showed up for the job. Settled with that problem and they started the framing for the concrete and told me they would pour the concrete next day. As agreed beforehand, I paid half of the amount when they started the work. Not sure what happened though, the next day, the contractor didn't show up even though he ordered the concrete and his workers were onsite. Called the contractor and nobody answered. Leonard called him as well and it seemed like no one could get hold of the contractor. The situation lasted for a few days and I was furiously but didn?t know what to do but Leonard came to rescue. He offered to hire a new contractor to pave the concrete sidewalk with his own money and asked me to only pay him the reminder of what I agreed with the original contractor. When the new contractor was on site, Leonard spent a lot of time on site as well to make sure the work was done properly. Because of the snow storm, it took us quite a long time to find a good weather to continue the driveway work and Leonard didn?t push but agreed to wait for an optimal weather for the driveway pavement. At the end, it was a great driveway. As for the episode of the concrete sidewalk, essentially he ate the cost difference between what he needed to pay for the new contractor and what I paid him because he valued his reputation so much that even technical it?s not his fault (he only recommended the contractor), he was willing to spend the money to make his customer happy. I was so glad that I hired him and would highly recommend him to anyone who needs peace of mind for driveway pavement.

The quote was done on time and was handled in a very professional manner. They were here and worked to make sure the job was done correctly, paying attention to the detail of the drainage flow and other important issues for our driveway installation. We asked them to do some additional work and they were willing and able to find the time to do it for us. They were a great crew, did a very good job and were worth what we paid for their services even though I gave them a B on price. Truthfully, we did not get any other estimates because the other companies we contacted did not follow through and therefore we really don't have any other prices to compare theirs with. I just know you get what you pay for. And we got a great job. We would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Sutter simply did a great job. The crews arrived on time, worked continuously until completed, were accommodating to neighbors, answered my questions, paid attention to details, cleaned up the work site, and finished the job when they said they would. The driveway looks wonderful. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Sutter Paving was Awesome. Leonard came out on a Saturday and did a bid for myself and my neighbor. The Bid was an excellent price. Leonard was very easy to work with and allowed me to make several modifications throughout the process and before the work began. His crew came out on a Friday and tore out the old driveway and packed it down with crushed rock. They cleaned up and then returned on Monday and paved the entire day. During the processs i was told that the addition to the lawn area that the sod may be too high and that i would have to put paving stones and rebuild up the soil to make it look good. I was not excited about that so they designed a simple raised lip along the lawns edge and it turned out fantastic with no work on my end required. I noted a small imperfection looking down on the driveway from the 2nd floor. They immediately corrected it and made sure i was satisfied. Several days later i found some minor pitting in the asphalt in a small area so i called Leonard. He had an employee show up on a Saturday and i showed him the spots. The problem was corrected and the Driveway looks absolutely gorgeous. Sutter Paving is the best and i will recommend them to everyone. my neighbors driveway also turned out Excellent and they too wanted me to pass on Praises for Sutter Paving.

Exceptional service, attention to detail, professionalism (from the owner and every single member of the work crew) and a beautiful driveway!!! They completely redid a 350+ ft long, high slope driveway, tangled with tree roots, created a drain system to handle the rainfall we get here on Tiger Mt., dealt with a hairpin turn around an ancient red cedar, and managed to safely control traffice on the Issaquah-Hobart Rd for several days-all without a single problem. They gave a fair price for a tough job, kept to it and finished on target. Everything was well communicated and they respected our property with their equipment and cleanup. The owner offered a no-pressure recommendation to enhance our property value with a rockery feature-so glad we went with his vision...the driveway looks like a Sunset Magazine feature now! The crew deserves a special thank you for their other 'acts of kindness'-to the woman whose horse trailer broke down in traffic right in front of our driveway on a warm summer day. The crew used their equipment to help her with a tow and kept her horses watered. The girl on traffice control even ran a secial delivery up to the house when the driveway was closed and we couldn't reach our mailbox. Congrats Leonard! You have a great supervisor and a great crew. We have a great driveway!

When I called the office for an estimate, they sent someone out the next day. Within 24 hours, an estimate was emailed to me. After hearing what we wanted to do, some suggestions were made to make the completed project look more seamless and save us money. We had several bids, but decided to go with Sutter because their price was fair and their communication was excellent. Our project wasn't that complicated, but it involved a lot of footage. We even decided to add a little more on the day of the job. That addition involved moving a sprinkler box and it had to be done quickly. Not only was the Sutter crew respectful and accomadating, they worked with my landscaper to get the drain in and sprinkler box moved. I have nothing but good things to say about Jay, Troy, and Don with Sutter Paving. Thanks for an outstanding job!

Contacted Sutter Paving to give us an estimate for replacing our driveway. A representative came out the next day - listened to what we needed, took the measurements and promised an e-mail estimate within a day. The estimate came as promised. We had gotten several additional estimates but chose Sutter's for the following reasons: They came out to the house on the date and time promised. Their estimate came in the same timely manner - their estimate was "easy to read" - not bunched up in one unreadable paragraph but simply "bullet- pointed" - concise! Called them back and made an appointment to get the job completed. The paving crew arrived 20 minutes early! They were friendly and got right to work. Our driveway from start to finish took about 3 1/ 2 hours. I was extremely impressed with the customer service "experience". What they promised - they delivered......on time and done right! I would highly recommend this company for their integrity and "can do" attitude. Thanks again!!!

The estimator, Jay, was always punctual and professional. He quickly priced several options for me and the neighbors to consider. The grading and paving crews showed up at 7:30 am as promised on both days, started right to work. Their work was just incredible. The finished road is sloped correctly, the gravel shoulders are neat and tidy. There was no damage to anything. No mess was left behind. And this was a big job, a lot of square footage.

Getting an estimate and appointment for work was painless using phone and e-mail. The work was performed how and when promised. The only negative was the price: this extension cost well over 50% of the original driveway. This isn't Sutter's fault, since they didn't do the original driveway. But we didn't get any sympathy in the price of the extension ;-) Also, when the worker came to prepare the site, he noticed an additional complication that he said would add $400 to the bill. He got our approval before proceeding, but $2800 already seemed expensive enough, so we weren't happy with another $400.

They arrived earlier than their 8am expectation (7:45). Unloaded all their equipment. And I was amazed at all the equipment and the trucks that were parked in the neighborhood. Reviewed the job with with the foreman. Then, got out of their way. They were finished and gone at 2 that afternoon. There was no damage at all to my landscaping, concrete parking area. They cleaned up everything, raked smooth some shoulder gravel. I can now drive my pickup up the wet driveway without having to put it in 4WD, the traction is much better without that sealer on it. My neighbor is very happy driving up and out of her driveway with the new asphalt section at the top. Sutter did a great job grading and sloping the new asphalt so that water would not run off the road down her driveway. It was difficult since her driveway was not built properly at the intersection. Sutter even filled in 3 potholes on our private road with their Bobcat. Advice to everyone - Do not buy or use those 5 gallon cans of asphalt sealer at the hardware stores. They make asphalt slicker.

We received four bids to install the driveway of our new house, and Leonard's bid was quite competitive. It was his follow-up and customer service skills that cinched the deal. He took personal responsibility for everything he promised to deliver in his bid, and was onsite much of the duration of the project, working along side his crew. Much to our surprise, Leonard and his crew were able to get the job done in two days, as from the scale of the project, we thought it would take about a week. The driveway and rockeries look beautiful! We are very pleased with the work of Leonard Sutter and his team. We were even more pleased to receive a follow-up courtesy call from him to find out whether we liked the result. Every step of the process, Leonard is engaged in making sure his customers are happy with his work. It's not surprising to see so many good reviews on Angie's List about Sutter Paving. He's earned them!

Leonard Sutter was very responsive, punctual, and professional. The work he and his crew did was done very quickly, but with close attention to detail, and with very little inconvenience to our family. Great job -- I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

Everything they did was great. They paved a part of our yard. My experience with them went very well. They did a great job and they did everything well. The driveway was asphalt. We would use them again in the future.
