Response from JENSEN ROOFING CO INC
I appreciate Angies List customers taking the time to read my response. Jensen Roofing is a niche company that provides tile roofing repair, maintenance and consulting and industry training. We are not a full service roofing company. When our schedule is full or the work is not in our scope we offer referrals to other industry professionals if they are better suited to the work, the customer or the time frame. I realize this MEMBER was disappointed that we would not bid his work because of our schedule and the work required.. Still, it is disappointing and frustrating to have such a negative review from a MEMBER for who we provided no service. The MEMBER was referred to me by another contractor and a supplier. He called on 11/11/2013. I told him we were booked until the end of December. He had one bid and wanted more. I offered to refer him to other contractors and suggested he send me an email and I would reply with referrals. He did not send an email at that time. He called again on 11/20/2013 and said he expected me to follow up with him. He also said he was not happy with the bid he already had, that it seemed expensive, and the contractor had already done other repair work on his roof he was not sure of. He really wanted a bid from me because he had been referred to me by two companies. I declined but again offered to give him referrals to other larger contractors that also have good roof tile experience. I gave him company names during our call. The next day he sent me an email and I replied the following day (see below). Regarding his reference to a visit by Jensen Roofing “a couple years ago”, my records show the date was November 19, 2005. He contacted me while I was working across the street from his home. On that visit he showed me a leak at a sky-window. This is not a typical skylight but a unit on the outside wall, framed into the home. This visit is why I am familiar with the home, the problem and the MEMBER. I referred him then to a local glass company (that has good reviews on Angies List). I did not offer a proposal. I have no historical relationship other than that visit, more than 8 years ago, and no visits or contact since 11/19/2005. He told me he has just put up with the leak at the sky-window in the 8 years since that time because it is not that bad and was too expensive to fix, but now the roof now has additional issues. The MEMBER’s suggestion that the job is too small for Jensen Roofing is not accurate. In fact it is the opposite. We like small work and refer larger work to larger companies. The $1500 amount is a price he was given by another contractor and there is no correlation between that number and Jensen Roofing. A final effort to distinguish my experience from what the MEMBER said in his review; Jensen Roofing did not inspect, bid, work on, or visit the MEMBER’s home related to his November 2013 call. We did give him website contact info for two other companies with tile roofing experience and crews and connections capable of doing most any project.
