They took their time assessing the work, and were prompt in giving the estimate. Joe Maly was the representative, and he was very knowledgeable and thorough. Their company has some different brands of furnace, and I am doing an oil to gas conversion, so it is a little bit confusing.

Salesman came on time to home to give a bid on replacing a gas furnace with a top of the line efficient furnace, air cleaner and thermostat. We took the advice of Angie's List and Consumer Reports to get more than one bid and although our furnace was out of service and it became cold in the house, we got multiple bids. Bel-Red was about $2500 higher than the best bid for equivalent product and service from other firms. Note: while the manufacturers were different, we were still comparing apples to apples in model types. The part of this process which really irritated me happened when I asked the salesman if there was any way we could get the price down on his bid (all Trane Equipment). He said that if business was really slow, sometimes the "Boss" would let him discount the air cleaner by a couple hundred dollars, but he could not guarantee this. After the salesman left our house, I began checking the Trane Website to see info on their equipment and was I surprised, Trane was offering a $350 rebate to folks who were buying the exact setup I wanted if it was done in a time window which exactly fit what I had told the salesman we needed. So either the salesman was ignorant of this offer, or there is some send back to the contractor if the consumer doesn't ask for it, or perhaps this will be offered to me next week if they do not hear from me. None of these is good. This company has a good service reputation, but I find the difference between $8000 and $5500 for essentially the same work to be substantial.

I had pretty much determined it was the blower motor (burning smell, noise), but let them come in to check things out. They have a minimum fee of $100.00 just for showing up. The blower motor was indeed bad, but I was shocked at the $560.00 price which came out of a catalog. This appears to be their version of a fixed rate which included parts and labor. So, the young man doing the work (although barely old enough to drive), did a fine job of installing the new motor and getting things back up. My issue is the cost of the parts and labor for a simple, and not very large A/C motor swap seems overly expensive. However, it was very hot and I didn't feel like I had time to turn them away and yet again, get charged for someone else to drive out and start the whole $100.00 + investigation. Bottom line, although I'd recommend them as far as being timely, in uniform and professional, ask for a estimate up front so you have a pretty good idea what is wrong.

I researched Angie's List looking for a Trane authorized servicing company with a high rating and chose Bel-Red. I called them in mid-June to do an annual servicing on my 3 yr old heat pump, not realizing the furnace motor had burned out. The technician who came out the first time was very nice, and tolerated working in my 110-degree attic without complaint. The replacement motor had to be ordered, so we had to wait 10 days for the repair. On the day the motor was to be installed there was a mix-up and a different tech arrived, without the motor. The paperwork told him he was here to do a service call. Bel-Red quickly sent the motor out to be installed. I was frustrated with the confusion and the delay, but the tech remained very professional and took care of the installation as quickly as possible. The system was only three years old and had not worked efficiently from inception, so I had many questions about how heat pumps work, about the installation of MY heat pump, and about what could have caused such an early burnout. Dalen was patient and knowledgeable, explaining technical processes in a way I could understand. He also identified some concerns with the way the system was set up that could explain my higher than normal heating bills. By the time he was finished, I had signed up for an annual maintenance contract. The third visit was for the annual maintenance servicing. I had requested Dalen again, but once again there was a mix-up in the office. When I got the confirmation call two days before the appointment, they gave the name of another tech. I reminded them I had requested Dalen, and they made arrangements to switch schedules so that he could do the service at the scheduled time. Again he found evidence of a possible installation deficiency that would contribute to the higher bills. I am hoping to see an improvement in my monthly bills thanks to Dalen's attention to detail. The slight downgrading on punctuality was not because they didn't arrive on time, but because of the errors in the office that delayed the work.
Description of Work: The furnace motor on my heat pump had burned out and needed to be replaced. I had them come back to do an annual maintenance servicing. I paid for next year's annual maintenance to get a price break.

They have me sign a yearly maintenance contract. They did come out after a special call after an area-wide blackout. They put me at the top of the list and came quickly. My furnace is still under warranty, and they are very good about sending in warranty paperwork. It's a fairly good sized company, and there are a couple of repairmen whose personalities clash with mine - so I tell them and they don't send them out!

The Bel-Red service technician was prompt, polite and efficient. He noted one furnace component measured outside the recommended specifications and asked if we wanted it replaced before doing that work. He left the furnace area in neat and clean condition. He explained in detail what had been accomplished when presenting the bill. Overall excellent work!
Description of Work: Bel-Red Heating & Air Conditioning installed our new 95%+ Gas Furnace and Honeywell Electronic Air Filter in 2004 and did an excellent job. This year we had them install new furnace post-filters, and service, clean and adjust both units as necessary.

Back in April, Darrick arrived to perform the annual service. We have been using Bel-Red Heating to service our furnace, whole house humidifier, electronic air filter, UV lamp and A/C since they installed the entire system back in 2005. Their service has always been very professional. At this service Darrick noticed that we didn't have a surge protector on our furnace. He suggested that I think of adding one. They have had to replace a few furnace motherboards due to surges and it was expensive. It made sense to me. We have surge protectors on our computers at home. I forgot that the furnace has a computer in it and it makes sense to protect that one too so I had him install one on the spot. When it came time to service the A/C unit he noticed the standby generator that we had installed in the last year. He informed me that they are now certified to install and service the same kind of generator we had. Since my option for servicing the generator at the time was the warranty service provider in Kent, this was welcome news. It came time to test the A/C which reminded me of our thermostat that had the date ahead by one day which affected the programming. The only explanation I could come up with was the adjustment of daylight savings time to a week earlier than normal. I've tried to find the manual to our thermostat but couldn't find it and it wasn't intuitive from the thermostat display. Darrick showed me the "secret" steps to set the date and time back correctly. We ended disabling the automatic adjustment for daylight savings time since it's formula is now outdated. All in all a succesful annual service, the thermostat now displays the right date and I have another option for annual service for our standby generator.

We had a Kohler generator installed by a different company last year and at that time I wasn't aware of a company close to home that serviced Kohlers. During the recent annual service for our furnace and A/C, the Bel-Red tech saw that we had a Kohler generator. He asked if they installed it, and I said no. He informed me that they now install and service Kohler generators. Problem solved for me! My other choice was the Kohler warranty place in Kent which is a good distance from our location. I called and made an appointment for the first annual service. I was given a time range for the appointed day. Just before the tech arrived I got a phone call from the Bel-Red office letting me know that he's on his way. Russ showed up and in usual Bel-Red fashion introduced himself and gave me a business card. He then proceeded to go to work. He told me what he was going to do and proceeded to do it. There came a time when he needed to test the system which would mean a temporary power loss to the house. Russ gave me notice before flipping the switch so I wasn't caught by surprise. I like the folks at Bel-Red Heating a lot because everyone that they have sent my way has always been professional and amenable to all my questions. I always learn something about my systems with each visit.

I am very happy and pleased with their work. Different crews come and only one time I had a less informative experience as opposed to other more qualified workers. But still do a good job. If there is a problem with recent work they do come back free of charge.

Bel-Red installed a new furnace for me in 2001 and schedules an annual pre-paid tuneup every year. The person who called to set up my appointment this year was friendly and efficient, and called 15 minutes before the technician arrived a few days later to let me know he was on his way. Chris Young was personable and efficient and took time to explain to my young grandson, who was visiting, what he was doing while still performing his core job. He answered my questions knowledgeably, and appreciated my business.

Bel-Red Heating charged $452.00 to replace a $26 furnace ignitor. We were shocked by the markups and extra charges for the parts.Today, a Saturday, a technician from Bel Red Heating came to replace our furnace ignitor and it took less than a half hour. Arrived on time and worked fast and efficiently. If youve never had your ducts cleaned you wont believe what is re-circulating in the air in your home.
Description of Work: Bel-Red came to my newly purchased home in Fall City and cleaned/deodorized my gas furnace ducts. The previous owner had a dog (translate dander) and a cat. The dog smell was bad. Technician Heather spent about 6 hours meticulously cleaning. She was efficient and polite. Dog smell has exited the house and the deodorizer smell lasted a short time and wasnt really stinky.

This experience was excellent. From the maintenance person to the furnace installer, every one was very nice, pleasant and professional. They worked quickly and efficiently and answered all my questions, no matter how dumb. And my wife loved how clean and tidy they were - even wearing booties inside our house. This has been a very smooth and great experience. Totally recommend these guys for work! Excellent service.
Description of Work: They initially came in to tune up our old furnace, but during inspection found cracks in the heat exchanger. They recommended either a new heat exchange or furnace - no pressure at all. We opted for a new furnace as ours was getting old. Within 2 days, they were out here and quickly replaced the furnace and explained what they did and how everything works.

Bel-Red came out to do my annual furnace tune-up. First, they were on time! They did a thorough analysis and cleaning of the furnace, solved an issue I had with ill-fitting filters and also measured inside for air quality (for Carbon Dioxide) and proper heating. I liked that the technician reviewed the analysis with me, showing me the data that my furnace was functioning within the recommended levels. Also, he didn't do a hard sell on additional services. He was professional.

Work always goes smoothly and takes about 45 minutes. Staff is professional and courteous. Appointments are easy to get although there is more appointment pressure in the fall so book early!

This company has been servicing my air conditioner for 12 years now. We have a contract with them for regular maintenance and we can call them at any time for any reason and they come right out. We can always rely on them. Some technicians are better than others though.

I like them because they are very thorough and they generally spend a couple of hours checking the furnace. I have been using them for almost fifteen years and all their technicians are professional and knowledgeable.

I've used these guys for a while now and they have always done a pretty good job for me. They came in last time and fixed my controller pretty fast and got rid of that animal as well. I really like them overall.
Description of Work: They came in to check my three ton air conditioning unit and they reprogrammed the controller. They also found a creature inside the heat pump and removed it.

They are not the ones who installed the system they just service it. What I like the most about them is that they are honest, neat and clean, and I have been very pleased so far with them. They always give me a window and they arrive within that time. I cant remember how much they charge me for the service.

Brandon was prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional. He carefully explained the situation with the igniter (a $200 part!) and gave me choices about what I could do. I didn't feel pressured into replacing the part there and then, but chose to. I also chose to participate in the "Home Comfort Protection Program" without feeling pressured to sign up. (This plan offers a discount on parts and on next year's service with payment for the service in advance. If I hadn't done this, the cost for the visit would have been $358.)
Description of Work: Brandon came out to do a cleaning and maintenance check on my furnace. He did this and also replaced the igniter.
