They came out on time and did the inspection and found there was damage to our sewer pipe. They gave me an estimate to fix the damage ($1800) which I accepted. The sewer pipe had to be dug up and part of it replaced frome the damage. This was done in a timely manner and inspected after completion to be in working order. They did a good job and I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Purchased a Big Deal at $225 for sewer cleaning with video inspection (44% OFF).

We had a drain clog that caused water from upstairs bathroom drains to backup into the basement shower, flooding the basement bathroom. I called Greenlake Sewer at 9:00 AM Saturday morning and received a call back less than an hour later. Fortunately, the plumber lived fairly close to us and was at our home in 15 minutes. After doing an analysis of the situation he determined that it was not a sewer issue and it took him less than 10 minutes to clear the large hairball that was causing the backup. He then gave us some good advice to avoid drain and sewer line problems in the future.

Brian, the owner of the company, is really good. He diagnosed and got to the problem pretty quickly. He has been out to my house for several times for different reasons. I do not know him personally at all. It is just that he has been here for three times for different problems. I did not spend anything above the expected cost for him. Everything was good. He specializes in sewer plumbing and there is a lot of dishonesty with guys who provide that service but he is really honest. I would highly recommend him because he knows what he is doing and he has a lot of experience.
Description of Work: The last time that I used Greenlake Sewer and Drain was maybe in the end of January. My sewer was going slower so he diagnosed that and he cleaned out a valve or a pipe for me.

Brian said he was 99% sure it was the city's fault and if they determined that they would take care of it very quickly. After one guy from the icy came out he said he would talk to another guy Mike and he gave me his direct number at Seattle city light. He said they would be out first thing n the AM. Long story short. He was Great He called the city for me too after I got another run around and then they finally came out today and as Brian predicted they realized it was their problem and now there are several crew out there. Hopefully it will be fixed soon!! thank you Brian for all your extra work and advice on what I should do.
Description of Work: Snaked and cleaned to sewer line and determined that problem was due t city putting in a telephone pole at or near sewer pipe causing it to be damage or shifted somehow...Brian had me call the city while he was still there and after being transferred around we finally were able to get a hold of someone who said they wold come out and look at it.

Evidence of a blocked drain showed up 2 days before New Years. I researched Angies List and then called Greenlake Sewer and Drain because they had such great reviews. Brian agreed to come out the next morning (New Years Eve). On the day of the appt., communication about arrival time was clear and accurate.Task 1: locating the sewer clean-out.? I told Brian where I thought the clean-out was located. Wrong. After patiently digging with no results, Brian suggested we check the crawl space to see if we could visually locate the position of the drain line. Bingo. Given that information, Brian immediately found the cleanout.? Task 2: clearing the drain.? My line was BLOCKED. Brian snaked the main line several times using an assortment of blades. He provided a running commentary about how things were progressing, commenting periodically that my drain just wasn't talking to him. He was watching and listening for tell-tale signs that ?the line was starting to drain and at last it did. By the time he was through, I was convinced that he is the "Drain Whisperer." :) Task 3: scoping the cleared drain.? Brian invited me to watch as he scoped the main line. His commentary?was both fun and informative as he enthusiastically described?the condition of the pipes, invasive roots, and where the trouble spot was located.? Task 4: advising me about blockage prevention.? I asked Brian what I should do to manage my drains and the sewer line to keep them clear. For sink and tub drains, Brian told me to use enzymes. For the main line, Brian will be back in the spring to hydro-jet the line and do a root treatment. Brian is wonderful to work with. I highly recommend him. He will be my go-to guy for all future drain and sewer maintenance.?
Description of Work: Brian located the sewer clean-out, cleared a thoroughly clogged sewer line, and used a visual scope to inspect the line. He then discussed treatment options to manage this drain in the future.

Owner did all of the diagnostics, proposal, and business, and some of the repair work. Owner's crew did the labor. All involved were professional and they worked very fast to finish the job on the next day after start day. All commitments made regarding time, money, and quality were exceeded. Experience was good, and my son referred his next door neighbor who had similar diagnostic and repair work done to his sewer, and he was also very satisfied. The only issue was difficulty confirming timely receipt of payment by mail. Seemed to have an issue w/ receiving PO Box. Very minor relative to very good experience otherwise.
Description of Work: For my son in Ballard, diagnosed sewer backup problem, provided estimate, excavated and repaired broken sewer. Provided new cleanout for side sewer area. Scoped side sewer to confirm no additional work/damage required.

We had raw sewage coming up from basement shower. Basement toilet was removed and video performed of our sewer line all the way to street. Problem identified (see above). I had previously corrected the problem by plunging the basement toilet. Brian was efficient and knowledgeable. Toliet reinstalled. I now can travel this winter knowing all is well in sewarland! I'm off to Costco tomorrow with a box of their "flushable wipes" They were clearly intact in the sewer and did not break down as toilet paper would.

Another sewer line cleaning company came to do a routine maintenance sewer clean out. Just 4 or 5 feet into the sewer line they got their blade stuck. At that point they just sort of threw up the hands and told me the blade would have to be dug out and the sewer fittings then repaired -- that job would cost me $ 3,200 ( and they could do it in one day ! ) I checked Angies list and called Brian of Greenlake sewer and drain. He came out the next day - ran a video camera up both sides of the problem spot. With a good picture of the stuck blade he proceeded to figure out how to get it out of there. Cost me $ 150 for his time and saved us alot of money, as well as not getting the back yard all dug up. I don't know if the other company was trying to scam me or were just too lazy and unprofessional to try and remedy the problem - But, Brian certainly was a hero to us. He is very personable and professional.

We had a slow running sewer line. The workman from Greenlake Sewer line couldn't get the cap of the pipe because the previous plumber had put it on cross-threaded. He recommended someone who could not only remove the cap but extend the sewer clean out pipe to where it was easier to access. (We knew it was a problem, so we agreed to have it done.) The plumber he recommended came out and had to cut the cap off. He extended the pipe and when he finished he called Greenlake Sewer and they immediately came out and ran their camera down the sewer line to locate the problem. The job was more extensive than we had originally anticipated, but we don't have a problem with that since we agreed with what was done. Both the workman from Greenlake Sewer and the plumber he recommended were fine. We would call them again if we had another problem.

Brian was great! When you have your sewer line backing up into your basement you tend to get a bit freaked out. You want someone to answer your questions, phone calls and texts. Brian answered and responded to every one in a timely fashion. I'm a one man plaster subcontractor and Brian taught me a thing or two about responding to customer calls. Thankfully a crack or hole in your plaster doesn't throw people into an instant panic the way sewer issues do. Brian is a one man operation so he is the one you will talk to and the one who will do the work. He was on time, friendly and did great work. If you have to call someone about sewer work, call Brian.
Description of Work: I dug the hole and Brian came out and rooted the line, scoped the line, replaced the broken pipe sections, located the next problem in our sewer line and pinpointed the location of the next hole to dig.

Thursday around noon I noticed a bad smell in my house and found raw sewage coming up though my basement sewer drain. I realized that my ancient side sewer had backed up and since I have neighbors up-hill who share my line, I immediately went over and told them what was happening and asked them to refrain from flushing their toilets or running large amounts of water until I could get someone out to correct the problem. I called Greenwook Sewer and Drain because of their excellent reputation and Brian agreed to do some juggling and fit me in at 11 the next morning even though he already had a full day planned. Meanwhile (and unfortunately for me), my neighbors (a family of 4) refused my request to stop using their toilets and by 11 PM that night I had a horrible smelling and very large mass of feces and TP on my basement floor. I called Brian about 6:30 AM and once again he answered the phone right away. I explained the situation and he said that he would call me back in a few minutes. During that time he was able to talk to his first client who generously agreed to let me go first (thank you so much whoever you are!) and he was able to make it to my home before 8 AM to begin work on my clogged sewer, Brian is a really strong guy but the mass was so dense he was barely able to get the smallest snake blade though the line at first. But he persisted and after using three progressively larger blades (one of which he had to bend to custom fit my ancient and non-standard sewer connection) he was finally able to free the line of all of the tree roots, baby wipes and tampons that had accumulated and were causing the blockage. He sent the camera down to inspect the line but after a few feet was unable to get the camera to progress. He then showed me the video screen which to me looked like the pipe was filled with lard mixed with oatmeal. He explained that a sludge line had accumulated as a result of extreme blockage. He then hydro-jetted my sewer line to remove the 50 feet of sludge in the pipe that was still hindering the water flow and then he went through the whole system with his largest rooter blade again to make sure he had gotten every little bit of debre removed and the entire sewer completely opened and flowing freely. The entire process took nearly 4 hours to complete. Brian then shoveled and scraped up the huge mass of raw sewage that had been deposited on my floor, bleached behind some built in shelves that were difficult for me to reach and instructed me on how to clean the floor to make sure I got rid of all of the germs after he left. I asked him if there was a way to prevent the neighbor's sewage from entering my house again and he said I should install a check valve which I have asked for him to do soon. He is also going to install a new sewer connector inside my basement at that time to widen rooter access to my side sewer to make rootering it easier in the future. Greenwood Sewer and Drain did a fantastic job fixing my challenging and horrible sewer mess!!!! Brian, the owner/operator, is knowledgable, hard working, personable and professional. His response, communication skills and equipment are excellent and he charged me half of what I would have expected to pay for the 4 hours work he did getting my severely blocked side sewer flowing again. I have been a homeowner for 25 years and Greenwood Sewer and Drain is the best company I have ever hired to work on my sewer. From now on I will not hire anyone else!
Description of Work: Brian, the owner/operator of Greenlake Sewer and Drain, snaked out my completely clogged sewer line to break up and completely remove a huge, compacted, foul mass that had accumulated inside. He then hydo-jetted the entire 50 foot sewer line from my basement access to the city sewer to remove a giant, dense sludge line that had accumulated due to the extreme blockage. He also helped me clean up the large amount of raw sewage that had accumulated on my floor from the neighbor's toilet.

I called and left a message Saturday night and received a call from Brian less than 30 min later. I explained that my sewer line was backed up badly would probably need to have the line snaked. He apologetically told me he would not be able to come out until Monday and gave me the number for another provider. They also were not available until Monday, so I called Brian back to schedule with him. I'm really glad I did. Brian arrived at my home on time and checked the exterior of the home for a clean-out, but couldn't find one. He checked the crawl space, but no luck there. He ended up needing to pull a toilet to get to the sewer line. Unfortunately, due to some funky plumbing, he wasn't able to get to the sewer main, though not for lack of trying. He cleaned up after himself and then explained my options. The most viable was to install a new clean-out in front of the home. Brian was cost-sensitive and offered that he could dig to expose the line and provided an estimate or that I could dig and provided estimated cost. I opted to dig myself to minimize overall cost of the job. Brian gave me his cell phone number so I could send pictures to ensure that I'd exposed enough of the line for him to install the clean-out. In digging, I was happy to find that there was a clean-out but it was below ground level about 1 foot. I sent a few pictures and Brian responded that he'd be able to snake the line from the existing below-grade clean-out. As scheduled, he returned Wednesday and was able to successfully snake the line. He had me run a bit of water to make sure everything was flowing alright and then, after an initial test, fill the tubs then let them drain to be sure the lines were clear and the flow was good. He asked if I wanted to extend the clean-out to grade or just re-fill the hole. I opted to extend the clean-out and he'd again asked if I wanted him to do the work or, if I would prefer, he could show me what I'd need to pick up to do the work myself. Understandably, his parts charges are more than the local home improvement store, but this time, I opted to let him do the work. He extended the clean-out and was able to finish the job within the hour. He was friendly and social the whole time, but he worked non-stop. Sometimes when contractors come to do an hourly job, you get the feeling they're being social to 'pad' the bill. That wasn't at all the case here. The overall job ended up taking 2 hours (1 hour for his first visit, 1 hour for his second visit) + parts for the extended clean-out + the cost to pull the toilet. If this had been my first go-around with sewer issues, I might have been frustrated to be charged for the first day since he wasn't able to clear the line. HOWEVER, I had serious sewer issues in a previous home I owned and am well aware of how these things can go. If my current home had a clean-out accessible when this first occurred, Brian would have been able to do the job within an hour for about $150. While it would have been nice if everything was resolved immediately, I have absolutely no qualms about how this job went. Brian answered all of my questions, offered multiple ways for me to save on the cost of this job (and let me pick-and-choose which I wanted to do on my own), provided good advice, and had a good sense of humor through it all. He was responsive, showed up on time, cleaned up after himself, and got the job done for a fair price. I really couldn't have asked for anything more. While I hope to never need his services again, if I do, I would certainly call him. I would - without hesitation - recommend him to anyone based on my experience with this job.
