Energy Works

My experience was generally pleasant with EnergyWorks; however, their prices are exorbitant. Their bid was for two guys to dismantle and clean my hot water boiler and it was estimated to take 4 hours. In reality, one guy did the work in 3 hours. They adjusted the invoice amount slightly, but the final amount equaled $730 per hour, and no parts were needed. Seems to me this amount for labor is outside the bounds of what’s reasonable for this type of work. It smells like a bait and switch, which I’ve seen many times. The estimate seems almost reasonable for the time and manpower proposed, but in the end it takes far less effort to complete the job. They either suck at estimating what’s needed for the job due to inexperience or it’s simply deception. Either way, once the work is done, you’re on the hook for an unreasonable amount of money. Unfortunately, the manager didn’t think it was an issue when I asked for a partial refund. Instead, he resorted to gaslighting, trying to convince me it was better than having to buy a new boiler, and that I hadn’t spent much over the years maintaining it so I was really coming out ahead in the long run, all of which is irrelevant.

Kaleb was wonderful in the repair needed for my radiant heating system. It didn't take him long to determine the issue & tell me what was needed to repair it. A week later, Kaleb installed 2 new parts & my system was working again within an hour. Scheduling was also extremely easy for both appointments.

Energy Works was incredible. They first examine the existing boiler, confirming what other companies had told us, that the boiler probably wasn't worth fixing as material and labor may add up quickly and end up costing enough to justify purchasing a new system. Energy Works reviewed our complete system and said they could provide us with a new boiler in one day where other companies said it was a three day project. We received five quotes for a new boiler and Energy Works' bid was significantly lower than all other companies. Energy Works clearly explained how they would replace the boiler and the reason for each charge. They showed up on the day they said they would even though it had snowed and they didn't receive all the parts they needed to complete the job. They worked tireless to finish the job the next day when the parts were delivered. The final solution is a work of art! We are happy with the performance of the radiant heating system as well as how our hot water works now. Energy Works applied for our rebates and deducted those from the final bill. The owner of the company came and inspected the work along with the city inspector. We are extremely happy with the final product and Energy Works' commitment to stand behind their labor and products. We highly recommend that you call them for all of your energy needs.

They showed us how to maintain the system and how to work it. They were reliable and arrived on time. The prices were good and they cleaned up well and we were very satisfied.

Service was as promised and went well. A/C is working beautifully.

Rich came twice to do the estimate, to measure every part and devise the workings and the installations. He also met with my 99 year old mother who still resides in the house She loved him and was so pleased he was going to do the work. The crew (friendly, light hearted and very very professional) came prompty, didn't disturb her or the rest of the house, did the job in less than a week, installed new easy-to-use thermostats and cleaned up including cutting up and getting rid of the old 500 pound behometh. (Not my mother, the furnace!!) I hope I don't need their services again but I would certainly recommend them to anyone. This was a specialty system and many good companies highly rated on Angie's list don't even do this kind of work. Of course it was spendy but we expected that. We are just pleased that Mom now has heat and is again comfortable.

Before work could begin on installing a new system, American Environmental had to come and remove asbestos, cover asbestos coated pipes and remove the old boiler. As soon as they were finished, Kaleb and Kurt arrived to install a system I can't begin to understand or describe. We have a hot-water radiator system. It used to use gravity. Somehow, heated water got into a holding tank in the attic. That had to be capped off. Kurt's job. Then a whole bunch or really gorgeous stuff got installed, including a water heater that operates in the same system. Not so, before. Half a mile of galvanized pipe was replaced with shiny copper. A new thermostat topped off the job. It all passed inspection today. The weather is too beautiful to test it all out, but this new, Energy Star unit should heat our home more efficiently this winter. That's the plan, anyway.
