Started at the Home Show, contacting 10-12 different furnace vendors educating myself. Selected 5 different companies to look at our house to give estimates based on type gas furnace I thought I needed. Selected 2 vendors based on type/brand of furnace. While all seemed professional; Pat at Blue Flame seemed most confident, knowledgeable about the product, how it would perform; referred me to a satisfied customer, and resolving installation issues.

Would definately recommend this company. Found them on Angies list and of the 4 Estimates we received they had the best to offer. Their sales person John was excellent to work with. They provided us with 100% excellent service from a detailed bid, to arranging install at our convience. They initally stated it would take 1 1/2 days to install but completed the job in one day. Their installers Brandon and Kurt were extremely pleasant, very attentive to ensuring when entering the house their shoes were off and they explained everything they were working on to my husband who followed them constantly. He really enjoyed them. They cleaned up after themselves and took the time to explain in detail how to operate each unit. Their Electrician Rocco paid close attention to detail and completed the job ahead of schedule. Blue Flame arranged our electrical inspection who showed the following day as well as mailing in our PSE Energy Rebate. We are extremely happy with this company and would highly recommend them! My husband has been in construction for over 20 years and was extremely happy with this company.

After we bought a home, we discovered that our furnace was extremely loud. It was so loud that it seemed to wake our daughter up and we couldn't hear the TV when it turned on. We were also interested in taking advantage of the tax credit for replacing our furnace with an energy efficient furnace. A very friendly and knowledgeable Blue Flame employee came out for an estimate with specific recommendations regarding our concern about the noise. He emailed us a very detailed estimate with various options the same night. We corresponded by email and he promptly answered our questions. We were pleased when he honestly gave his recommendation against a filter option which would have added a few hundred dollars. We decided to go with Blue Flame and made a deposit on a Monday. We were very anxious to get our new furnace, so although they called a couple of days later to say they would come on Friday, it felt like a long time. Two workers promptly arrived in the morning and worked all day. The installation job was immaculate. We were very impressed, particularly with the piping work. The workers were very friendly and showed us how to use the thermostat. Followup call was delayed, but we had no problems with the furnace, so that was minor. The office is taking care of our rebate forms and warranty so that is nice. We are extremely happy with our new very quiet furnace.
Description of Work: Moved water heater in order to remove and haul away existing furnace. Installed a 97% efficient York variable speed furnace in same location with lined return air drop. Installed new programmable thermostat.

Performed first two items under direction of contractor. Everything was done exactly as we'd wanted, and we love the fireplace they recommended and installed. John then spent over an hour with us (free) educating us about two older heat pumps in our house, how we could make more efficient and comfortable (and it worked). He was friendly, yet competent and professional. Then a technician came over, tuned them up and installed a new thermostat which has made the house much more comfortable. Everyone we dealt with was knowledgeable, honest, and professional.
Description of Work: 1. They put in a direct vent gas fireplace 2. Installed 2 50 gallon water heaters 3. Evaluated, educated us on older heat pumps in house we'd just moved into 4. Serviced heat pumps, put in new thermostat

Overall went well. The initial consultant John Mott missed the first date, but was quite apologetic, and was very punctual and available afterwards. After reviewing a number of other options, we went with the most energy efficient system, which qualified for the $1500 federal tax credit. Additionally York sent back a $1700 rebate check as well, so overall I got back $3200. The system so fars works well, and the first 1 yr service is included. There was 1 time when I needed them to come out because of a minor glitch...Blue Flame was very prompt. They came out and fixed the problem right away (had something to do with the settings on the furnace). No problems since. The installation process was clean and professionally done. it took them about 2 days. I would recommend them to my friends.

Quite by accident we discovered 2 gas leaks in our furnace room on the afternoon of Dec. 8th. One was in the line leading from the furnace and one was going to our range. Called PSE. They inspected the lines and then promptly turned our gas off. This was on the coldest day we've had so far this year! Needless to say we were desperate to get the heat back on. I called Blue Flame right away and they managed to squeeze us into their very crowded schedule the next day, Dec. 9. John arrived about one hour later than the estimated time but Blue Flame called ahead to let me know he was running late. After inspecting the job he quoted a price for the work. He was able to fix the 2 leaks and found another one upon inspection. Job was done in about 1 1/2 hrs. and house was warm again! And he stayed within the initital quote.

I felt he was very thorough and seemed very knowledgeable and we received a professionally prepared package. What we did not like is that he told me that when the energy company asks what we will be using the gas for we should say it was for more than one appliance, which was not true. This would make it less expensive for us but we were not comfortable with someone who was alright with lying. The energy company specifically states in writing that they will take action against people who do this

Starting the furnace replacement process, we obtained bids from 3 companies. Blue Flame and one other were very close on most elements, and the product Blue Flame offered was the better fit for the tight measurements of the site and has a longer service history and was a better price. They were also the only company to actually perform heat-loss calculations on the house, giving me more confidence in their proposal. The estimator gave clear factual information about all of the furnaces and had a lead technician confirm the planned installation site before we accepted their bid. The installers were very competent, professional, and courteous, cleaning thoroughly after the project was finished.
Description of Work: We contacted Blue Flame to evaluate our gas furnace and recommend a high efficiency replacement. They carefully measured and performed the heat loss calculations of our home and recommended a couple of alternatives. We selected the York high efficiency. Their installers were very careful, professional, courteous, and hard working. The final installation looks and works very well, and we are pleased with the results.

The work was great - install was very professional and we highly recommend this company. We think the cost was slightly higher than other quotes, and we are unsure the particular furnace brand is high quality, but the work done certainly was high quality. Sometimes they were a little hard to reach, but generally coordination of work went very well.

I called and the girl who answered was pleasant and helpful. She scheduled a window of between 3-5 p.m. The guy showed up just before 5 p.m., so it was within the window but later rather than sooner. Everything was done quickly and Johnny was helpful in pointing out tips on how to clean and replace our filter. Got a nice little discount, too. Only blemishes: the dispatch gave him the address slightly off, so he went to the wrong house first and he showed up at the tail end of the window. Overall, however, I though he did a very good job. Besides, it wasn't his fault that the address was off.

Rodd came out in April to evaluate our furnace needs as the one we have is improper and old. We put off any decision as another area of the house needed to be addressed immediately and we had to see if we could get that finished and have any funds left to replace the furnace and water heater with. We resurrected the project in September and asked for some changes to the initial idea for the project and an up to date bid. Rodd came out again and spent a significant amount of time looking at the current situation and pondering some ideas I had and another bidder and gave his thoughts. Through all the ideas of the people involved the installation concept was bid. Rodd's bid was competitive and with an excellent furnace. The two bidders were both excellent companies on Angie's List and both had given a lot of time to our home and to what could and could not be accomplished to improve our comfort here. I know had we chosen Rodd's company that we would be very happy indeed with the furnace, installation and support. Unfortunately we had to choose between two wonderful options but only needed one furnace so it was almost a toss of the coin that made the ultimate decision for us. I encourage anyone considering a furnace especially if your home is not working ideally in it's heat system to call Rodd and have him out.

The only negative part was communication. It wasn't that the communication was negative it was just a little on the slow side. They did what they said they would. They came in and removed the old furnaces and old ductwork for some piping that was being installed at the same time. They came back in and put in the furnaces. It was timely. There were some minor problems that I needed to have taken care of. They took care of those problems. They seemed to have the best price. They seem to be more knowledgeable than the other contractors that I talked to.

Description of Work: Took vacation time from work to schedule Blue Flame to give me an estimate for a new gas furnace. We called Blue Flame because our water heater stopped working and the authorized service tech that Whipool referred us to for warranty work would not replace the part until there was a way to disconnect the gas piping between the shut off valve and the part on the water heater. We called Blue Flame on Tuesday and they sent someone out on Wednesday. John called before coming, so we knew when he would be there. He assessed the problem, proposed his solution and told me how much it would cost. About 15 minutes later he was done. I explained to him that the company doing the warranty work had left the part there and they were coming the next day to install it. I mentioned that they had said the company doing the gas piping work might even install it for me, John asked me if I would like him to. I said yes. (I had been with out hot water for almost a week at this point.) He put it on and didn't even charge me extra for doing it. I now love Blue Flame and will call them whenever I need service on my gas appliances or piping.

Very good experience. Although we got off to a slow start with our salesman (John) because he had just come on board with Blue Flame, I had him come back for a second evaluation of our needs and subsequent second estimate. He was very good at explaining the features available in modern HVAC systems (our old one was the crummy basic system the builder installed). The sales end of this purchase was very relaxed and enjoyable. The installation went smooth as butter. The installer discussed the installation with me prior to beginning. The install team quickly and efficiently removed our old system and installed the new system, which went in outside and inside. They were careful to keep the mess to a minimum. Their sub-contractor electrician arrived on schedule and the whole installation was complete by 4p. I really like that Blue Flame sends a HVAC technician out to "fire off" the system and check to see that the installer has covered all the bases. The technician also went over the system operation with me explaining the numerous features of the thermostat (not your father's old thermostat). I got a follow-up visit from the salesman to be sure I had all the paperwork (for rebates & tax credit) and understood everything about how to get the best results from the system. He said to be sure to call if we had any questions about our system or if it needed any adjustments. UPDATE: On a yearly service check from another company, I found out that a few things (one required by code) weren't done properly during the installation. The condenser drain line needed an vacuum break, the gas line needed a drip leg (code), and the furnace cabinet needed to be sealed to prevent air leaks.

I was very impressed with the overall hard work and team work this company put forth.
Description of Work: I had been nursing a 13-year-old gas furnace last winter, and I decided to take advantage of the tax credit and have the old dragon retired and a new furnace installed. The sales person was straight forward and did a walk through of the house, and made some recommendations. I went with what I could afford and made arrangements to have the installation on the first of July. The Installation people were a tad late (15 minutes), which could be due to the fact, I am not in a metro area. Other than the small tardiness – the team was great and finished the job ahead of time and well cleaned up. The City inspector came and was impressed with the install and stated the job was done very well.

They did a very unprofessional job of installing the roof vent. They were totally unwilling to fix the vent at first. It took a lot of persuasion on my part to finally get them to resolve the situation. They eventually did fix the problem, but begrudgingly. They did not concede an inch, insisted there was nothing wrong with the roof, and ended up yelling at me when I requested that they remedy the situation. The person who installed the vent was untrained, unskilled, and unprofessional. The price was good, and the rest of the installation was done just fine, but their customer service and the roof vent installation was completely unsatisfactory.

Response from Blue Flame Heating and Air Conditioning
First and foremost we believe that it is our number one responsibility to take care of our customers, no matter what the problem is. If or when there is a problem we try to respond to it as quick as we can. As you can see in the member's grading, punctuality was an 'A'. Thank you! We appreciate that. On the other hand, the grading for the other three categories is somewhat confusing. The part that says “They were totally unwilling to fix the vent at first". After the original installation of the furnace we received the first call from the member about the routing of the venting. We sent one our employee's out to assess the issue. He sat down with the member, had a cup of coffee and discussed how we were going to fix the problem. The member then showed us the issue on the roof. It was a shake shingled roof that wasn't in the best of condition. He explained to us that his wife (more than him) did not like the location of the vent penetrating through the roof in between two of the shingles. We talked it over and decided that we should make another flashing and double it up with the existing one. We scheduled the work and got it done within the week. The member called a second time and explained that he and his wife still did not like how the vent flashing looked. He suggested that it should be fixed by a roofer. We did however explained to him that we sealed the flashing securely and that it would not leak. And it didn’t!!! The member still insisted that it be fixed by a roofer. Then we agreed and offered to have a professional roofer that we use for many projects come out and fix it free of charge. The member refused again and insisted that we use his roofer who was a bit costly. At this point there was a little agitation between both parties but no yelling matches were involved. Our attempts to reason with the member may have been mistaken as being begrudging. We apologize if that was the case. We ended up giving the member cash back to help pay for any repairs that he wanted to fix the roof. I could be mistaken but I thought that we ended on good terms with the member. We're sorry that it had to turn out this way. Sincerely, Blue Flame

The owner of the company came out and did a maintenance check and replaced the motor and did it all for $200. He didn?t charge me for having to get the parts and other things that he would normally charge us so he saved me quite a bit of money by doing it the proper way. I actually did not need a furnace as diagnosed by a few other companies that I spoke with over the phone.
