Jack was great. He called ahead telling me his approx. arrival time. Found and repaired heater problem. He didn't even make fun of me when he found the thermostat display not functioning because of bad batteries. I did give him permission to laugh with me about it. Jack even gave me tips on maintaining my spilt-duct AC system, which he wasn't here to fix. Very courteous phone personnel making my appt. Response time was also very good. These guys are great. I will be calling them for any future problems for either heater or AC..

They arrived on time and did their work quickly. They also offered suggestions on how to extend the life of the furnace. They offered a prepayment for annual service. I was impressed with their service plan, and felt like it was a good buy. It also will give me preference if my furnace breaks down after hours.

Our 26 yr old furnace started acting a bit flaky so we decided it was time to replace it. I was able to get an appointment with Pat quickly. He came out to the house, evaluated our heating needs, and promptly provided us with a quote for a range of furnace options (80%, 95% 2-stage, and 95% modulating). He answered all of our questions clearly and completely. He did not try to pressure us or oversell us. We also decided to replace our 14 year old water heater at the same time. On the day of the install, Pat arrived early and covered the path from the front door to the furnace area with plastic. The two installers, Bob and Josh, were pleasant, professional, and quiet (no loud radios blaring). They removed the old furnace and water heater and brought the new ones in very carefully and without any damage even though access to the area is less than ideal. They completed all of the work in 1 day and cleaned up thoroughly before they left. Blue Flame handled all the paperwork including permits and equipment registration. They also subtracted both the Trane and the PSE rebates from the bill in advance and handled filing the paperwork to apply for them. They provided me with a clear, detailed, written installation warranty as opposed to the vague "100% satisfaction guarantee" I received from a competitor. There were no surprises when it came time to pay the bill. This was a great experience and I would not hesitate to call them again.

After having some work done on our house, our gas furnace stopped working. The furnace is only three years old, and we'd never had a problem. We discovered an air vent had been displaced, causing the vent pipe to bend. We assumed this was causing the furnace to not work. But, since it is a gas furnace, we decided to have a professional check it out. The company that installed the furnace was no longer in business. So I contacted Blue Flame to see if they could check it out. They were able to schedule someone to come by in the afternoon. And sure enough, the tech did. The tech called me 30 minutes prior to arrival-as customer service explained they would-and he should up 30 mins later. Excellent! Checking out the furnace, sure enough the vent pipe was the issue. Since another contractor had displaced it, the tech was unable to make the fix (the fix involved structural work on the exterior vent). The Blue Flame tech explained we needed to have the vent fixed and then he'd come back for a follow up check. We had the contractor fix the exterior vent, got the pipe back in place, and less than a minute later our furnace fired up. To be safe, we decided to contact Blue Flame for the follow-up. The tech came next day, again calling 30 mins before arrival, and he even showed up a little before then. He checked out the furnace, and all was good. It was a big relief having a pro team come out and ensure the furnace was fine. Finding Blue Flame was local, answered calls quickly during business hours, happy to answer questions, arriving/completing work in a timely fashion, and keeping costs reasonable is a major relief as well. Btw - Since this is the first time I've had to contact a furnace repair company, I really can't compare costs for this category. I felt their prices were fair, so that is why I've rated them with a "B".
Description of Work: Our furnace had stopped working, and we had a good idea what the problem was. We wanted a professional to check it out (it's a gas furnace), and repair if needed. Blue Flame was able to send a tech out that day, who checked and verified the cause (bad vent on the house). We had the vent repaired, and then the tech came out again to check the furnace out. Although it took two visits, they only charged us for one maintenance visit.

These people deliver excellent customer service. From the lady, Camille, who made the appointment to Rod, the owner, who came out on a Saturday for pre-inspection, to Bob and Crawford who installed, everyone was very nice and helpful. We received the bid the day after inspection. It came in a bit higher than another company, but when we compared the products, found that Blue Flame was giving us units with more power and efficiency. We are so delighted with our new comfort in our home and would recommend and use them again.

After our furnace stopped working, they showed up within hours of my call. They even came early (after checking to make sure it was ok) after finishing another job more quickly than expected. The technician quickly figured out it was a circuit board problem and fixed it. Despite the fact our furnace is really old, he did not suggest I get the unit replaced instead. The technician (Andy) was very professional and efficient and took it in stride when he had to climb in and out of the terrible crawl space where our furnace is located.

Owner, Rodd Walker worked closely with my contractor and me as we worked through endless Home Owner Association issues as they didn’t quite understand “green technology” impact. While expensive Blue Flame’s installation drew high praise from the city inspector! I am really enjoying a well heated and cooled home.

No well, I replaced much on the components. The technician said he had to rebuild the furnace. He said the furnace was worn out and needed to replace all the wires. He said it would be $1500 dollars to repair. Suggested that I consider replacing the furnace. I got the sense the technician did not know how to trouble shoot. He was more interesting in getting my money rather than repairing. The issue I had with the furnace was related to wiring to the correct switch. I move one wire and the furnace now works perfectly. So, this took me 1 hours to figure out and fix. I am not an electrician. I ask myself how come the technician could not figure this out, and said the furnace had to be rebuilt. It cant be that difficult. An electric furnace is just a hair dryer on steroids. Would not recommend them, however, I called some other Heating companys on Angies List and they all seem more interested in replacing rather than fixing.

I've been using Blue Flame for the past 6 years. I initially used them to install central air, and they have been tuning furnace and AC since. They are always on time, very professional, clean, and they get the job done the right way. When we decided to purchase the central air from them, they had the middle price of all the quotes we received, not the cheapest, but not the most expensive. They did a quality install, the day they promised, and at the estimate. For tuning services, they always arrive on time. Make sure you ask about the maintenance plan. It will definitely save you some cash, and you get priority service if something does go wrong with your furnace or AC.

From beginning to end this was an extraordinarily excellent experience. Pat explained everything in detail, returned several times as we progressed through the city approval process, and was always pleasant. In fact the same was true for everyone associated with the company. Once the work began I was entirely comfortable leaving for work each morning, and returned to a home so clean I wasn't sure they'd actually been there. The work was more challenging than Pat had anticipated due to how the home was constructed. The crew put in 10+ hour days to ensure the work was done within three days. I highly recommend them. Update: while the initial experience was good we have had numerous problems in the past six months. Twice on weekends the furnace stopped working and I felt they begrudgingly responded. The service person was good, but should we really need to have repairs done on an 18 month old furnace? This morning the water heater temperature sensor quit. Another phone call. This time I was told to call a plumber but "it is probably still under warranty." That is not the customer service we got in our initial interactions and I am quite disappointed.

Our AC unit failed on the hottest day of the year, so we called Blue Flame and they sent over a very pleasant, bright, repair technician, Jack, to fix our unit. He'd determined a capacitor had failed, he replaced it, and then made sure everything was working properly and there were no other related AC issues. Overall, the experience couldn't have gone better. He was on time, made sure everything was working, explained the current state of our unit, all the while letting us know the nine year old unit could last us another nine years. We've already scheduled to have him come back out in November to do a winter furnace clean out. Clearly we were and are very satisfied with both Jack and Blue Flame's service. This is our second time using Blue Flame as a provider and we've been very impressed by the quality of their work and their technicians. They're all very bright and knowledgeable about what they do and are both willing and able to explain their work in terms we can understand.

We had contacted a couple of contractors about installing a tankless water heater, and although Blue Flame was a bit more expensive, we're glad we went with them. They knew what they were doing and the new system is working flawlessly. It was a bit complicated connecting everything up to the gas lines, venting the heat through the roof and the H2O condensing through a new pipe in the wall to the backyard. Since they really seemed to know furnaces, we had no qualms about them removing the old water heater and hooking up this tankless to the existing gas lines. The outcome was superb. Pat Brake was excellent describing what exactly was needed initially and Rodd Walker had several very helpful suggestions when he came out the day before making sure the installers would have a smooth installation (which took a full day). He caught a problem in our ductwork to the garage which was fixed and will save us $$ in gas in winters to come.
Description of Work: Removed an old hot water heater and installed a new interior gas-powered Navien tankless replacement in our laundry room with external venting. Added a new heating vent at the bottom of our furnace and removed old ductwork in that attic above the garage.

This is a company who has perfected the phrase, "I'm sorry." "I'm sorry we cut off a beam while installing your air conditioner. The guys did not measure properly when placing the platform on which the A/C unit would sit." (And they did not check if it would be all right to cut off a decorative beam) "I'm sorry you have an extra 4 feet of conduit making a big 'L' on the outside of your house because the guys did not poke the hole out of the house on the proper side of the heat pump unit that would have allowed for a straight shot down the wall." "I'm sorry we did not finish the piping for your hot water and heat before we left on Friday. We thought you would not be back until Monday so we could finish it on Monday." (We left on Friday for a weekend trip to Chelan and came back on Sunday. When the cat's away the mice will play??? as they were SUPPOSED to finish that part of the job before they quit on Friday.) "I'm sorry we poked the furnace vent out on the wrong side of the roof." (The roofer had to point this out and they came back to move it as it was supposed to be invisible from the front sidewalk.) "I'm sorry we left a hole around the water pipes from the crawl space to the A/C unit big enough for squirrels so get in." (This was pointed out by the pest removal guy who diagnosed our pest problem) And, to make up for all these ineptitudes, they gave us a WONDERFUL 5-year warranty and equipment check up, for which they were to come yesterday. Today? "I'm sorry no one showed up. We scheduled you for NEXT week by accident." This company had GREAT ratings, but we have had nothing but trouble with them. They call to say "I'm sorry" and then add, "What would you like me to do?" THEY are the ones with the problem. I am not in the business of fixing personal problems, but it would be nice if they made some kind of gesture to fix their problems instead of just saying, "I'm sorry."

Response from Blue Flame Heating and Air Conditioning
Ouch! I we think this is probably the worst review for Blue Flame ever! The following response is in three parts: 1. Installation 2. Recent Scheduling Miscommunication 3. General Statement from Owner of Blue Flame, Rodd Walker, who happened to be the project manager for the original installation. 1. First the Installation: (About One year ago- Furnace w/AC, Tankless, Gas lines, and Ductless system) I met with [member name removed] before the original installation began for a pre-inspection to make sure the project went smoothly. (We do this on large projects and remodels- and this project was a remodel) I laid out the job in person with our crew and [member name removed] on the first day of the job. As [member name removed] stated, our installation crew made a mistake when cutting an ornamental beam (not a structural beam for support, but an overhang about 2' off the ground). We had permission to cut one of the beams, but our crew thought they needed to cut two of them to make room for the AC unit. I came back out to the jobsite and offered to have it re-installed- and no one would have know the differerence- it was purely ornamental-but Mrs. Fowler said no, just leave it off. The only other issue I recall was a difference in what was expected in the routing of the refrigeration lines for the ductless unit- and again- I offered to move them, and she said no, just leave them. We worked hard to stay on schedule, and did so. [member name removed] requested that we come back at a later date to cut in penetrations for the new furnace/water heater after the new roof was installed at a later date. We did so, without complaint. All work was permitted and passed inspections, and was an overall good quality installation, which we pride ourselves in at Blue Flame. 2. Rescheduling Miscommunication (approximately one year later) [member name removed] returned our call (proactive call on our part) to schedule her first annual complimentary service, and we asked her to give us her best dates for scheduling, she told us Wednesdays worked best for her. She requested to NOT be scheduled on Wednesday July 24th, because she was having surgery the day before on the 23rd. So we set it up with her for the following Wednesday, which was July 31st. [member name removed] must have forgotten this, because she called in on July 25th and was very upset that we didn't show up the day before and told our rep (Camille) she didn't want anyone from Blue Flame calling her again- and hung up the phone on Camille. Kathy decided (one of the owners, who actually scheduled the original call with [member name removed], one week after her surgery) decided it would better to call her back once she had a chance to calm down. Kathy called back to apologize and see if [member name removed] was willing to reschedule, but she would have none of it. Even though Kathy specifically recalled setting up the appointment for the 31st because of [member name removed] surgery on the 23rd, she decided not to bring this up with her -so as to not upset her. [member name removed] would not accept our apology, but replied that all we do is apologize and re-hashed the accidental cutting of a ornamental beam from a year earlier. She continued to "unload" to Kathy on the phone and hung up on her as well! 3. General Statement from Rodd Walker, owner. I will offer up no excuses for any errors/mistakes on the part of Blue Flame. In the business of installing replacement heating, air conditioning, tankless, gas lines, electrical in existing homes- many things can go wrong- and occassionally do. We depend on the skills, judgment and communication skills of our employees to install/service equipment to building code and manufacturer's instructions. We contintually train and have meetings (weekly) to ensure this is happening. We drug test for employment, and perform random testing. We background check. If an employee does not respond to training, that employee is replaced. All of this required much coordination, planning and effective communication. Sometimes we fall short- but we always make it right, and I think that's partly what makes Blue Flame a great choice for customers....Customer for Life. These aren't just words- they are the principles that I built this company on. I have decided to take the high road in my response without being overly defensive in regards to Mrs. Fowler- but I will say that she was very unkind to my employees, whether they were in her home- or on the phone. Life is too short for this. We'll just move on- we have many, many "more than satisified customers" who Blue Flame is lucky enough to call customers for life. Sincerely, Rodd Walker

We started smelling gas coming from the exhaust of our furnace outside the house and had the previous installer come out and check it informing us that the heat exchanger had failed and we should stop using the furnace. The service person said their company's sales person would be out to discuss possible warranty repair of the furnace but they never returned and sent us a bill for the service call. I gave up trying to get anything from the previous installer so I contacted Blue Flame heating and air conditioning. Pat came out and explained all the options we had with repair of the old furnace or replacement with a new one. We decided to go with a new furnace and have been very pleased with the one Blue Flame installed. They were professional and punctual and the furnace has work very well.
