The installers were on time, courteous, and committed to doing the job right. They were dedicated to ensuring my wife and I were 100% satisfied. The installers ran into a bit of a hiccup when it seemed as if the new heat pump may not be compatible with my Nest thermostat. However, at the end of an already long day, the lead installer (Josh) never gave up. He spent nearly 1.5 hours on the phone with Nest customer service and ultimately got the system working perfectly.
Description of Work: I used Blue Flame based on a friend's experience with them, they came highly recommended and I was not disappointed. I purchased a heat pump, furnace, and air ranger air filtering system.

DO hire these guys. They are very affordable and thorough, and very professional!
Description of Work: Added centralized ac to our central heating. The day of install had snags because of some faulty wires that were originally installed in our house that we didn't know about. Blue Flame was on top of it and fixed it right away the very next day...and first thing in the morning to boot! No hidden costs, no bait and switch, and they were in communication with us throughout the process.

Blue Flame employees are true professionals who have set the bar high. Compared to two other equivalent HVAC companies, Blue Flame is better in every way! Blue Flame was one of three companies from which I received a quote for the installation of a heat pump and furnace. I made the request for bids via each company’s website all within one weekend. Two of the companies replied within a couple days, to nearly a week later. Blue Flame was the first to call, almost immediately during their next business day. They were able to get somebody over to my house as soon as I was available. This contrasted greatly with the other companies where appointments were not available for many days or weeks. Before the day of the quote, the Blue Flame office called and informed me that their representative would be there within 30 minutes of the window that was originally set up. Then, the representative himself called to let me know he was on his way. It was like a notification sandwich! This became the routine every time they visited. The Blue Flame representative was extremely knowledgeable and walked me through every nuance of what I was asking for. He conducted his introduction and then went immediately around the house, into the attic (where the furnace is located), into the garage to inspect the power panel, and all through the house to identify the heating registers. He was extremely clean. Before entering the house, he put on protective covers over his shoes. He took them off when he entered the garage and put them right back on before coming back in. I mention this because the other companies which provided quotes did not do this. Also, after he left the attic, some of the blown installation fell down onto the carpet. I told him not to worry about it; I would vacuum it up. He insisted on vacuuming the little mess and went and grabbed his own vacuum! Once again, this compares to the other companies who made a mess and did not clean it. In fact, one company asked to borrow my ladder to access the attic! He spent a lot of time discussing how Blue Flame does an install. The attention to detail that he was claiming was exactly the level that he was demonstrating by his awareness of cleanliness while accessing different areas within my house. He spent nearly two hours in my house explaining every aspect that I asked…and I asked a million questions. He provided an on-the-spot quote for the budget that I was trying to stay within. Then, at around 8:30 that same evening, he followed up with a formal quote via email. I couldn’t believe he was still working … that guy deserves a raise! While waiting for the other company bids, I asked follow up questions via email. The Blue Flame representative would reply or call nearly immediately, as if my question was more important than anything else he was doing. Needless to say, Blue flame won the bid, hands down – and not just due to the price, but the customer service and attention to detail displayed. The guy’s name was Adam. During the install, the same level of detail was shown. An army of technicians arrived at 8:30 a.m. and the last person didn’t leave that day until nearly 8:30 p.m. The guy in charge spent a ton of time ensuring the pressures were correct in the compressor. Knowing a little about HVAC, I was extremely grateful for this. After he was all done, he then sat down with me to explain everything. Even though he had worked nearly 12 hours straight, you wouldn’t be able to tell. He was friendly, courteous, and patient with even more questions that I had. This guy also deserves a raise! His name is Nick. The day after the install, all seemed to be working perfectly…but then I received a call. It was Blue Flame saying that they needed to stop by again and check on things and also install an additional component that was not done the day earlier. To me, this made Blue Flame’s reputation jump up dramatically because it became apparent that they have quality assurance ingrained into the company. I would not be surprised if they were ISO9000 certified. I can’t recommend them enough.

All went as expected. We had just moved so we think the furnace had not been serviced or cleaned in a few years. The service man tried to clean up as much as dust as possible, but also gave a quote on doing some further work that would require removing the panel to get a more thorough clean. He did not apply pressure to do this work on the spot at all and just recommended we think about it. All in all very happy with the service and will use them for AC service in spring and yearly services needed.

Blue Flame asked to re-schedule during a cold snap when a lot of people were without heat. They called several days in advance and asked to reschedule and since we had heat, we were happy to accommodate them so others could get heat back. Very courteous and professional. The tech arrived on time and immediately put on his his booties! Bonus points for preserving our hard wood floors! He was very professional and knowledgeable. He performed the service quickly, pointed out a few issues with our installation (another company performed the install several years ago) and suggested some things we could do to make improvements. One important note, that other company sold us a furnace that was way too powerful for our house, which could lead to a lessened lifespan for the furnace. Yikes. We'll be headed to Blue Flame for our next furnace that's for sure. We've used Blue Flame in the past and been happy, this latest experience was quite pleasant, professional and enlightening. Hard to ask for more than that. Use Blue Flame for your HVAC needs that's all I can say.

The service was great. The company contacted me immediately to schedule service, then called twice prior to the date of service to confirm the appointment. They were punctual and professional. Our technician cleaned the coils of our furnace, explained the unit to us, changed the filter and gave us great advice for replacing the unit due to it's age and current performance. The furnace is original to the home and is builder grade and is showing signs of being on it's last leg. We were extremely happy with the service provided, the professionalism, and knowledge of our technician. We will absolutely use Blue Flame in the near future when we get around to replacing our furnace.

We saw a coupon on Angie's List for a discounted furnace cleaning thru Blue Flame ($89), and decided to try them out. We originally scheduled the cleaning service for early December, but Blue Flame contacted us and asked to reschedule after nasty wind storms in our area left many people without power or heating. Not a problem, as our furnace was operational. On the rescheduled service day we got a call about a half hour into the scheduled window (12pm-4pm) letting us know the tech was on the way. Chris arrived and went right to work cleaning our very dirty furnace. He found the blower capacitor was going bad, and was able to fix that for us while he was here ($99 part charge), and he also adjusted the gas pressure. He answered a bunch of questions my husband and I had, and was very personable, professional and courteous (he put booties on anytime he came in our house). I would definitely recommend Blue Flame to anyone looking to have a cleaning or maintenance done!

I had scheduled a furnace tune-up a few weeks in advance, and two days before the appointment the company left a message saying they had to reschedule the appointment, no apologies. When I called back to speak with someone in person, they explained that they had to cancel due to a rush of 'emergency' calls. I'm sure this would be a nice arrangement them, as they would get both my existing business and all the new business coming in, rather than sending the emergency calls to another company. I think it's incredibly unprofessional to not honor appointments, regardless of the kind of appointment it is. If I did go ahead and reschedule with them, I would have no faith that they would honor that new appointment if another rush of emergency calls came in.

It's our fault for not asking you if you were ok with moving your appointment, vs not giving you the option. Our protocol is to ask customer that have working furnaces to volunteer to move the appointment, and offer up that spot so we can help people with no heat, if they can't move their appointment, we will honor it regardless. First visit was scheduled by phone. As expected with temps in the 20s, the day after Thanksgiving, a service call was at an (ultra?) premium price. We opted to tough it out and schedule a "regular" troubleshooting visit. We were given a window of time to expect the tech, and were told we would get a call :30 before arrival. Tech arrived unannounced, but was early in the day so that worked out. After a :10 review assessed the issue was bad smart-valve. Provided a quote for the repair, which is clearly designed to push customers to purchase a new unit. The tech was not "salesy", and did not push any direction. Simply provided 4 options in laminated cards that included prices. 5 days in without a heater we were doing fine. So we took our time to get 2 more quotes, including one from Costco kiosk service, we decided to move forward with Blue Flame. They applied the original service call fee to our final invoice. BF called and notified us of the installer's pending arrival. Installer arrived within the :30 minute time frame. Young, friendly, polite, and professional. Got right to work, completed the job in approx. 2 hours. Hardly noticed he was here, and left the area clean when he left. The replacement unit was slightly different in dimensions from the existing, so installer had to retrofit duct work, electrical, etc. So far work seems as expected. Installer finished up by replacing t-stat, reviewing paperwork and necessary inspection by city, and informed us that electrician would come by to do check of work. Less than :30 minutes after the pre-call electrician arrived. Friendly and professional. Took :15 to tidy up a couple small items, but nothing major. Overall happy with service. Like any need-it-now service they seem to be profiting from heaters that fail in the cold. And because it's hard to get furnace pricing, comparison shopping is a challenge. But that seems to be an industry norm (HVAC, plumbers, etc.). I would recommend BF BF owes me an inspection in the coming year, and the unit came with warranty. Stay tuned for updates.
Description of Work: Our original, construction-grade furnace quit heating. Based on the AL rating reached out to Blue Flame when our (small, one-man) contractor was out for Thanksgiving weekend. First visit was trouble-shooting the unit: smart-valve dead. After doing research and getting quotes made decision, second visit was to install a new furnace.

This was a big deal purchase. It was okay. I think they did what they were supposed to, but they kind of made a big push trying to sell a new furnace. I thought that was a little too much. But I guess that is what they are trying to do, maybe sell a new furnace somewhere along the line. There was not any problem with the furnace; it was just that they said it was getting old so maybe it is about time to start thinking about replacing it. They came within a week after I bought the deal. I was surprised at how quickly they came out. I thought they were a little too pushy and hard sell on trying to replace the furnace. The big deal price seemed like a fair price. They did a good job. They were very responsive, that was the best part of it. They called me quickly and were right on time, as I remember.

Well, they canceled the morning of because others were without heat, which is understandable. Then on the reschedule they weren't able to narrow down a 4 hour window but told me I was last on the list and would receive a call. And then I was first with no call, so all of the scheduling stuff was frustrating. But the person who performed the service was great, no complaints there.

The company was responsive, and got me in touch with a consultant immediately. We scheduled an appointment at my house and went over options for furnace replacement. The options that were suggested to me were realistic, and matched my expectations. The price I was given was fair for the amount of work involved, and the bid was competitive. I chose another bid over minor differences and personal preferences, but I would trust Blue Flame equally well to give me a fair price and to perform high quality work.

. The Technician was neat & cleaned looking. He stayed about about a minute or two to explain to us that the next time he heat pump and furnace needs tuning up. But I don't understand, my contracts state that I have the choice of furnace or air conditioning tune up. When we let him in the house, he asked where our furnace is? Right away we told him we have our air conditioning. My wife pointed to him that the furnace is the closet and the heat pump is outside.. My wife and I Would have appreciated if so the tech ( name withheld) have taken his time to listen to us. Usually, we hear a vacuum cleaner running outside the house when the TECHNICIAN clean the filter from the furnace. So I had to ask to my wife if he cleaned the filters. She said yes; and he told her that, He uses a cleaner a with chemical that not only pickup the dust but also-disinfect them. Now, I wonder if how good would this chemical be on our health. In the first place, we got the air conditioning because I have Asthma and Parkinson disease. One other thing is that; why does the Company does not provide their Technician with tarp to put on the floor so they don't leave foot prints when the leave the house? Or ask their Technician to make sure to clean their mess before the leave! s

I scheduled an appointment for the furnace service and I wanted technician to look at the furnace because it failed to start once in the morning. But on the day of appointment they called us and moved the appointment one week later saying that they have too many of them. So I am giving C on responsiveness and punctuality because what good is an appointment if they cannot make it. On second appointment technician showed on time and performed furnace inspection. He found few issues (problematic fan motor bearing) and fixed broken pressure switch hose. He recommended we replace our furnace soon or fix the motor. Two days later our furnace failed to start again in the morning and judging by noise it was making it was not the same kind of failure to start as the first time. Hence I give B on quality of diagnostics

After purchasing a new home we noticed that the furnace hadn't been serviced in a very, very long time. We called the provider for a routine service, and also asked if they could give us an assessment of the overall health of the furnace. They did a great job, explained all the bits and bobs (we've lived in an apartment for 15 years, and haven't actually had a furnace before), and left us feeling well cared for.
