We made appointment and they showed up on time. Performed the removal of old furnace and installation of old furnace. Did not need to cut vent hole and described by the job bidder. They also had a hard time hooking up old air filter. They should have discussed this in the original bid negotiation that it might not be possible. They said it would be possible and then (because of age) could not deliver on the promise. They were not the lowest bidders.

Quality of the completed work was ok. The main problem was in follow-up. Although the installers told us they would return to stub out the stove connection, we never were able to get it completed. Blue Flame assigned a coordinator who was impossible to reach by phone and let days or weeks pass between responding to our emails. Finally we gave up and went to another provider.

Beware the bait-and-switch and the upsell. Our furnace broke on a January afternoon and they sent somebody out for an emergency visit. The technician was punctual, professional, and a good salesman - he quickly identified the problem and quoted a price for the replacement part and labor. At that time I signed up for a monthly service plan (12 monthly payments for 1 yearly service visit) because he said it included a discount for the emergency visit and for the repairs. The next day they called to double the price of the repair and parts and to say there would be an additional charge for expedited shipping. Then, on the basis of the new price, they tried to upsell us to a new furnace. When I balked at their tactics they refused to honor the original price, wouldn’t do anything to temporarily address the heat in our house (we had no heat while we were waiting for the part), and continued to hard sell us on a new furnace. We called a different company who performed the repairs for about the original price, provided a temporary fix until the part arrived, and didn’t try to sign us up for monthly service plans. Meanwhile, with Blue Flame, I never got the promised discount on the emergency visit (we ended up spending $200 to have them not fix our furnace and instead try and sell us parts, services, and equipment we didn’t need) and I am still trying to get out of a service plan I have no intention of ever using.

Response from Blue Flame Heating and Air Conditioning
[Member Name Removed], We are sorry to hear that we disappointed you on our recent visit to diagnose your furnace issue. Our technician diagnosed the problem, and once he knew the issue, he got right to work on finding the replacement parts. He quoted the repair, and unfortunately, as we previously reviewed with you, the distributor had made an error in his price quote by about half. Typically, we have found that during our nearly 25 years in operation, clients understand that errors occasionally happen, and with that in mind, we gave you a call to inform you of the issue, and to re-quote the repair. A simple misunderstanding because of the distributor's mistake. The discussion about a new unit was based upon the fact that we always provide our clients all of their options......we have found that once builder grade equipment begins to experience major component failures, some clients choose to just replace with a higher quality unit so that they aren't constantly spending money to keep a unit working that is nearly out of warranty. Your husband cancelled the appointment to go over the new furnace option, so we never had the opportunity to present any pricing or quote you a replacement unit. As for the service agreement, regular preventative maintenance is required by manufacturers to honor warranty claims. The language in the warranty certificate states that the manufacturer reserves the right to disregard claims arising out of failures due to a lack of maintenance. Regular preventative maintenance is what prevents failures like the one you experienced from happening, and it is the best decision you can make to protect your equipment. Unfortunately, many companies, like the one that did the repair for you, don't make this important recommendation, and contractors who don't suggest a service plan often times don't take the time to explain that just like a car, which requires oil changes and preventative maintenance, your HVAC equipment requires it as well. [Member Name Removed], we are happy to refund you the diagnostic fee that you paid us for our visit, as well as the first monthly installment of your maintenance agreement. I will have our accounting department contact you on Monday to handle this for you. We wish you well, and want you to know that as a company, we only have our client's best interest in mind. Amazing. Kyler, Angel, Kailana, and the whole team were super professional, informative, friendly, all the things you look for in people who are doing expert level work in your home. They were very honest and spent all the time with us that we needed to make sure we felt confident and understood the entire process before they got started. Angel and his team did flawless custom duct work to install the air handler with our existing duct system and they actually left our home cleaner than they found it. They were extremely punctual and did all of the work in the days they had allotted for the job. This was our first big project that we did for our new home and we couldn't be happier with their work. Thanks Blue Flame!

I would not hire Blue Flame again. The person that came out said he couldn't service the furnace because of how it was placed in the attic. Didn't seem to be interested in attempting to service or work on the furnace, even though in each of the bids I got afterwards they said it wouldn't be a problem to work on it. Even though they were unable to service the furnace, they did seem to take great pride in trying to upsell me into replacing the whole system, at, I imagine, would have been a great cost. Avoid and beware.

Response from Blue Flame Heating and Air Conditioning
[Member Name Removed], I'm sorry that you were disappointed by our visit to your home. Our notes indicate that our senior technician was there to diagnose an intermittent problem that was occuring with your heater. His findings indicated that the coil was compacted, and subsequently, your system was shutting itself off through a limit switch, which is designed to protect your system and shut it down when issues arise. Your heater's warranty period has expired, and when a system is out of warranty, and has something such as a compacted coil, which will completely shut some systems down permanently, we always like to present our clients with all of their options, which at this stage in the life of your system, will include the replacement option. If we weren't providing you with all of your most prudent options, we would be doing you a disservice. In any event, we are sorry that you weren't satisfied with our visit. We would be happy to revisit your options with you, and would enjoy the opportunity to change your mind about Blue Flame. Lawrence 425-771-7139

The short story for those in a rush is that everything went much better than I had imagined. I gave Blue Flame the highest marks on everything and I would highly recommend them to my family and friends. In fact, the biggest reason that I would recommend them is that they were honest, hard working, and treated me as if I were family. If you want to save time, money, and worries about the workmanship being high quality - call them! Now for the long story... When my furnace broke down in January I quickly did research to learn about furnace manufacturers and reviewed Consumer Reports 2016 reliability report (Rudd and Trane were at the top of the list). During my research, I reviewed many online posts and reviews. Many people that actually install and maintain furnaces say that the quality of the furnace is important and the actual quality of the installation is equally important. I then researched Angie's List, Yelp, and the BBB and requested quotes from 5 heating companies. My criteria was to replace my standard furnace with a high-efficiency furnace and to install the new PVC exhaust with minimal impact to my newly installed composite rood. Five companies came in, walked through their proposed installation approach (vent through roof vs. vent through side of house), talked about city code requirements, talked about why they install certain furnace manufacturers, and provide their quote. They were all respectable and honest. The reason I selected Blue Flame, because they took extra time to educate me about furnaces in general and answered all of my questions regardless of how silly they were. They quoted me a very good, all inclusive price on a reputable furnace. However, I wanted to go with a different manufacturer. The new manufacturer had better reliability ratings and cost more than the furnace Blue Flame first proposed. They reworked the quote and applied additional discounts to basically keep the quote the same. Kyler did an amazing job during the initial consultation and the pre-installation walk through with Kevin. If you read through the reviews on Angie's and Yelp, don't be surprised if you see Kyler referenced many times. He represents Blue Flame's culture and commitment, and was the main reason why I selected Blue Flame. For the installation, I was very fortunate to have Luke and Steve in my home doing the actual installation They work hard and smart, and again answered all of my questions throughout the day. As I stepped into the garage to see how things progressed I noticed how meticulous and careful they were in performing the installation. I was most concerned about the PVC that had to be installed to vent the furnace through my new roof. At the end of the day, I felt that Luke and Steve did the installation on my home as if they were installing in their own home. For any DIY people out there, if you're like me you take time to do things the right way. After the installation, I climb onto my roof to inspect the PVC vent, flashing, and seal on the composite materials and roof. While I was up there, I also painted the white PVC exhust (in DIY-fashion) to match my other vents. The work Luke did looked as if it were done by a professional roofing company. Luke and Steve took the extra time to do it right! The Blue Flame front office is excellent as well! Kailana did a great job in communicating with me every step of the way.
Description of Work: Replace standard home gas furnace with a high-efficiency furnace. Services included removal and hauling away of existing furnace, installation of new high-efficiency furnace, installation of new PVC exhaust/intake through newly installed composite roof, installation of exhaust flash on roof, installation of condensation pump and drainage, installation of new thermostat, and complete cleanup.

I'm very pleased with Blue Flame's service. They were prompt in all appointments, were able to get me a discount via our utility, City Light, for replacing electric baseboard heat and they handled all the paperwork for that. The crew was professional, gave me options for routing the ducting, and performed flawlessly including cleanup. I'm especially pleased with the way they installed the outside unit in our sandy soil, with a very solid base that is pleasing to look at.

It was partially fixed, I still have the problem. They also installed an air cleaner, which was $800. The fixing the furnace was about $300. There are two things going on. Basically they were saying there is not enough return air. So I did that and they basically said it was marginally okay and they replaced the high temp switch - it keeps kicking off and recycling. They put a new high temp switch in, but it's still recycling. It works, it doesn't work very well. It doesn't work efficiently, but it works. I can get through a period of time until I've had a chance to get somebody else out here to take a look at it. Update: After talking to Blue Flame they say they warranty the work that they are responsible for which is the operation of the furnace itself. They have advised that the return air is insufficient and needs to be fixed by the original installer via their warranty. Once the return issue is resolved by the original installer, Blue Flame will make sure that the furnace is then operating properly with no additional charge.

Hello, sorry to hear that you are still having the issues. Being that the furnace is only 5-6 years old, we are recommending that you have the company that installed it out to fix the return air. This is something that they should have done at the time of install. It would fall under the workmanship guarantee that most reputable companies offer. You should not have to pay them to come fix this. There is only so much that we can do, without taking the whole system apart and rebuilding it. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Blue Flame

Starting with the initial quote for the service. My neighbor had them come out and quote for the same thing to be done on the same floor plan home as ours. I called blue flame and asked if they would honor that for our home and they said they would need to send out a comfort advisor to our home to do our own estimate. I said ok and scheduled the appointment. I asked for the comfort advisor to call me before coming to the home as our house is in a new development and our address is not coming up in GPS systems yet, I received a phone call from him stating he was lost and couldn't find our house, once I got him directions we showed up and we went over everything. At the end when we started talking about price, when he handed me the quote it was almost $1500 more than my neighbors. When he asked if it was what I was thinking it would be I said no and gave him the quote his company had given my neighbor for the same unit. He made a phone call and agreed they could do it for that price. I felt a little taken advantage of like they were trying to get extra money out of me but I decided to still go with them based on their warranties and guaranties. I asked the comfort advisor if there was away we could get the directions to our house to the installers and he said absolutely and that he would put it in the notes for our account. The installers called me the morning of our install asking if I was home and telling me they were at my front door knocking. They were not there and didn't read the notes about the directions. Once I got them to our house they started working. They were very friendly and professional. Once they finished the install they had some issues getting the heat pump to come on and communicate with the new thermostat. They worked on it for awhile and then called for a technician to come out. They said our furnace would work like normal until the technician got there later that evening. Once they left the house was not warming up to temperature. I then found out that the furnace was not on. It would not communicate with the thermostate. I asked the installers before they left if they could give the directions to our home to their technician and they said they would. The technician called a couple hours later and was at the wrong house, he never got the directions. Once we got him here he was very friendly and professional. He went to the thermostate first to try and get our furnace working right away. He found an error when they programmed the new thermostate and didn't do it correctly. That got us our furnace heat back on. He was also able to get the heat pump working like it should. The only issue he found was that our air handler fan from the furnace was running 24/7, this was not the case before the installers started the job. He said he didn't want to mess with the electrical work and wanted the company electrician to come out and fix that. I said no problem. That was Thursday night the 22nd of December. Once again the technician that came out was amazing and great. Yesterday I called the office to scheduled an appointment to have the electrician come out. I was told they would be here today between 0800-1200 on the 27th. Just after noon I called the office and they said it would be between 2:00-6:00. The only other window option I was given was 12:00 and 4:00. So now I sit and waste the entire day waiting for their electrician to show up. They also said they will need to come back out once the temperature warms up a little bit to properly charge the system for the air conditioning.

jf price, quality and professionalism is judged by providing needed services at a competitive price, then this company is one to avoid.
Description of Work: Had an experience similar to previous reviewer on fast talk and price gauging. Signed up for a simple tune-up and was told various parts needed cleaning and a better filter would be good. The bill went from $89 to $1,400, and I only have myself to blame I guess. Next day checked around and confirmed price gauging, putting aside whether any of the work was necessary. When I checked they apologized and said they had charged the wrong price for cleaning. Today they are taking out the new filter and providing a full refund, which is to their credit.
