Tony was very friendly throughout this process. When I first spoke to him to schedule an estimate he took the time to tell me about the process and what all was entailed. When he was running late, he called me to let me know so we could reschedule another time. Was able to show up even earlier than that, so all worked out. He came out on July 1 and I had my estimate on July 2, so a pretty quick turnaround compared to other contractors. His estimate was very reasonable and his timing (including the 10 day permit period) worked with our short time frame, so we went ahead and scheduled for a start date of July 14. We received a call early Monday morning saying that due to some unforeseen circumstances our project was being pushed back 2 days. Normally, this wouldn't have been a problem, but since we had scheduled several other contractors to come in directly after him, there really was no way that we couldn't get this project done in the allotted time or basically pushing back his work another 2 weeks. Tony gave me a ring back and told me that he would get some guys to come later in the day to at least set up and then get all his guys in the next day to finish. He did as promised. They did have to come in on Wednesday morning, but had everything cleaned up and were out by 9:30am. Was impressed with the crew and with Tony's willingness to push through and get things done. I would not hesitate to recommend them. This is not a job where things are left better than when they arrived, but they did what they were hired to do and were responsive and friendly to boot.

I should have checked their schedule before i signed the contract. They were booked several weeks out after the 10 day waiting period. This was a problem since we were having a new boiler installed and needed all the pipes out before. When I called the see if they could move us up, Christina was very understanding and moved us up 1 week. This was very helpful. I didn't have a lot of contact with them before the start date and had to call to see what time they'd be here. Because they are far north, their start time each day was 9:00. The workers (3) arrived between 8:30 and 9:00. They knew what needed to be done, started promptly and explained their progress each day. At the end of the 3 day job, our basement was spotless. We are very happy with their work.
Description of Work: They removed asbestos covered pipes in our basement plus the asbestos off of our old boiler.

Originally emailed to schedule a date/time to have estimate done for removal of popcorn ceiling that contains asbestos. Never received a response, so called instead. Spoke with Tony, he was very friendly and we set up a time early the following week. While he was very nice, he talked a lot and I was calling on my lunch break so was trying to get off the phone quickly. The scheduled time came and went with no contact from Tony, after 30min I called him. He had forgotten about the estimate and we rescheduled for the next morning. He walked through taking measurements, talking a lot with seemingly scattered thoughts. After he left that was the last I heard from him, we never received any estimate or any follow up. After forgetting our initial appointment and not sending anything after showing up, he seems pretty flaky.

I recall (removed member name) but within 24 hrs of meeting with him I was in the hospital diagnosed with diabetes. As you can tell from other people I am normally very focused on my work but became very ill very quick. I was forced not to work by this for a week. while being sick is no excuse I can assure all that I take my work very seriously.

I would reccommend this company to anyone. Matt came and looked things over, told me a couple of different ways to take care of the problem, gave me an estimate on the cost of the job and came in exactly as promised on both the cost and the time it took to complete the job. Very knowledgable group.

I had originally targeted two businesses for asbestos removal bids. The first business was not on Angies's List, and had good responses on Yelp. I contacted them by phone, listened to their recorded phone message about their interest in my project, and left my name and two phone numbers. I have never received a call back from them. I was unsuccessful in relocating their business name or I would have included it here. My second call was to Affordable Environmental and I talked to Matt to make arrangements for an estimate. He and Tony both came to the house promptly and were right on top of what needed to be done . After the usual deposit and L&I waiting period, Tony's crew showed up early to start the work. I was surprised at how long it took them to set up the required containment before they could actually do the work, which only took them one long workday. The crew was pleasant, hard working, and kept me in the loop as I wandered out to see how things were going. They left no mess when they left. The drywaller who came in a few days later to texture the ceiling commented that he didn't think the ceiling had been sealed-the job for the last man out of containment on the crew. When I called Tony and relayed this information, he was very distressed. I was impressed with his immediate response and handling of the situation. He had a crew return as soon as I could be there to resolve the issue, even going above and beyond to have his crew wipe down the sidewalls and floors before doing exit air quality monitoring. His estimator, Matt was there with the follow up crew to supervise and keep me appraised. In my dealings with Tony and Matt I was very impressed with their pride in their company and eagerness to promptly resolve the issue. I may need to have some vinyl flooring in the same area removed in the future, and based on their response, I would not hesitate to use them again.

First, we met with Tony to get an estimate. We were really impressed with his manner and professionalism, and with the depth of his knowledge about asbestos removal. We learned a ton from him about the process, including the risks and the necessary follow-up work. After we signed the contract, we scheduled the removal for a date a few weeks out. (They would normally be free sooner, but I was flying out for Thanksgiving, which got in the way.) On Tuesday, December 3rd, they arrived at 10 AM, as scheduled. We didn't hear from them again until Thursday, when they told us they were done, and gave us back the keys. We were prepared for the ceilings to look terrible and to need a ton of repair work, but they're actually in great shape. It's clear that the removal team was very careful to disturb the ceiling as little as possible. This is especially important because we have radiant ceiling heat, and so we were worried that we might have to get a new heating source once they were done. I'm extremely happy with Affordable Environmental, and I would use them again in a second.

Firm removed flooring containing asbestos (2 layers) as well as roofing material contaminated by asbestos. The roofing was the fifth level down so it took lots of work. Sam, the project lead, was great as was his co-worker. I think the firm underbid the job, scheduling it for 3 days when it in fact took about 5 days. I was happy with their work.

They arrived as scheduled and explained the process and quickly began the work of removing very hard painted over asbestos from living room ceiling. The first day was all preparing the room to the exact standards required for properly removing the hazardous material. This is quite an involved process! Day two they arrived early and went right to work setting up the equipment and promptly began the arduous job of removing the nasty, painted asbestos from our ceiling. Yeah!! The men were very pleasant, informative and a pleasure to work with. They were extremely thorough from beginning to end! Left our home virtually dust free and more importantly, popcorn free!! Would recommend this company to any and all who need this job done. Also, the charge was, while expensive, very competitive. If you don't have painted popcorn the job will be way easier & shorter!

The crew arrived promptly at the time promised timeand set up a barrier to prevent spread of asbestos fiber when they removed it. The surface was sealed afterward. Close examination of the job the day after revealed that there was still some covering around the edges that could have been removed, but was not. The examination also showed that the cleanup was not complete. Further, some of what I thought was nonasbestosos-containing adhesive patches were thin patches of covering that I believe could (and should) have been removed.

Tony showed up on time, was extremely professional, friendly, and easy to talk to. He was patient answering my questions, and I found him to be very knowledgeable. Since I do not know anything about asbestos insulation, he easily could have told me that it was asbestos and made money removing it. He did not. He let me know that it was fiberglass, and saved me money. I'd definitely recommend him to friends and family.
Description of Work: I had a crawlspace company give me an estimate on insulating my crawlspace and cleaning it up. He noticed about 20 feet of water pipe that was wrapped with white insulation and thought that it was asbestos. I contacted Tony to get an estimate on removal of the asbestos insulation on the pipes. He came out and took a look and concluded that it was fiberglass insulation on the pipes and not asbestos.

Tony was very responsive and punctual from the beginning and throughout the proposal discussions. Of all the contractors I contacted, he was the quickest to respond. After reviewing the areas of concern, Tony was very honest and upfront regarding the concerns I had and even recommended an alternate method to mitigate my concerns, saving me a lot of cost. In the end, I choose his recommended alternative. Should I need any asbestos abatement services in the future, I won't hesitate to contact Tony at Affordable Environmental.

He offered to look at it the next day after I emailed him but due to the Labor day weekend and Tenant's availability, we asked for another date and he was very flexible. We ended up having to reschedule due to a storm that knocked out power. Each time I communicated with him, he was always patient and explained complicated abatement process in easy to understand terms. All the time, I felt like I was talking to someone who is genuinely interested in educating people about the process and sharing his knowledge, than a businessman who is after a profit. When Tony came to inspect the tiles and give his bid, he spoke to Tenant and my mother who was present, then called me on the phone to review what he recommends. It turns out the tiles were not friable and did not pose a danger the way they were. This really speaks to Tony's integrity and professionalism. He took the time to investigate the problem, candidly shared his knowledge and expert opion and alleviate all our fears. We all sleep better knowing that we don't live in danger and knowing that there are really honest and trustworthy people like Tony out there. Kudos to him.
Description of Work: Discovered old vinyl tiles under the carpet. Took samples for asbestos testing and some pieces came back showing asbestos. I called/emailed around and Tony responded promptly. He calmly reassured us that this is a situation that he has dealt with many times and there is no reason to panic. He described several possible scenarios and offered to come out to inspect the room in person before recommending one option vs another and before giving an estimate, which makes total sense
Wonderful service and very thorough. Answered all my lay questions with patience and expertise and promptness. I wish they could do everything for me, but they are already so good at this particular job I appreciate it!

Very professional, quick working!!
Description of Work: He cleaned up the mess that another unprofessional abatement contractor did.Tony was very professional and his crew did a great job! I can recommend him highly. He and his crew made sure that our home would be safe and free of asbestos. I wish I would have gone with Tony first. Five star service is what you get withAffordable Environnental! Thanks, CM
I got two quotes for the asbestos removal, and Affordable Environment could perform the work first ? so they got the job. Both quotes were comparable in price, and while expensive, this is just the cost of removing hazardous items from your home. AE sent out an estimator to measure the area and provide a quote. The employee was professional and friendly, however, he was a bit late due to traffic (which I understand). We had scheduled to do the work a few days later on a Thursday at 8:30am ? I got a call at 8:15 letting me know an employee was ill and they couldn?t do the job that day, however, they would absolutely be there at 8:30 the next morning. I was a bit disappointed to have to wait another day since I couldn?t schedule my carpet install until the work was complete, but I was happy they could reschedule the work the so quickly. I met their employee at the house the following morning and gave him instructions to simply lock the door when he was finished (the house is empty). When I came back after work, the job was complete ? the area was free of all the tiles and my home was left tidy and neat. I would hire them again if we need any other asbestos to be removed.

Strangley enough, about 2 days later, inspectors from the Department of Labor and Industries showed up at my worksite wanting to verify that my contractor and the crew that were working on my property were aware of potential asbestos on the site. (I had already done testing, communicated the presence to the contractor and had a contract in hand to abate the asbestos). I have no evidence related to who may have called the inspectors, but based on what had transpired during the bid process, I would hope that all firms to whom I submitted a request for a bid, Including Affordable Environmental, would act with professionalism. if you are considering using this firm for abatement, be aware that their pricing was competitive, but not the best. In addition, this sort of experience with a contractor (unknown) sending inspectors to a job site out of spite is highly unprofessional and I would personally advise potential clients to be leary of what information you divulge regarding competitors, regardless of how considerate you may be.
Description of Work: I contacted Tony for a bid to remove known asbestos for which I had already executed testing. He was one of 5 different firms i contacted. I had to follow up with him a couple of times to receive the bid. Once I had gathered all of my bids, I made my decision. I was curteous enough to reply to his e-mail to let him know that I had selected someone else, but that I appreciated his time to bid my work. He replied by asking me about the name of the winning company and I replied affirmative to his question. I suspected he was rather upset at not winning the bid and had some dort of disdain for the winner.

While I did bid this abatement L&I inspects all abatement contractors. that is the norm in the industry. no contractor can tell them when and where to inspect. for the record both the other firms using affordable are former employees doing so without permission simply and transparently trying to make a buck off of my family that has had the name since 1990. As both are new they will be inspected more than established firms. This has nothing to do with AEI, L&I is simply trying to insure they are in compliance.

Team established a clean area for entry and exit from the rooms with asbestos. The removal was done quickly and efficiently. Asbestos removal is expensive, and this service certainly was, but we have no complaints about the quality of the service. We needed the work to be done quickly so that we could bring in another contractor. They started on time and finished a day early. We could not have asked for more.

Tony came out, gave us an estimate and thoroughly explained their abatement process. We decided to move forward and scheduled his team to come about two weeks later. I budgeted a little extra time for them, as I do for all home contracting services, and it was a good thing because they needed an extra day to complete the work. That said, once they got started, they set up the containment rooms quickly but carefully and removed all of the popcorn ceilings in two 13 x 13 rooms in about two days. I was really surprised at how great the ceilings looked afterwards, I was expecting them to be completely ruined. (I've heard from numerous folks, including from Tony, that they just can't guarantee what the condition of the ceiling will be.) I had previously scheduled drywall contractors to come and repair the damage, I'm still having them come to repair some of the edges, but there is much less work than I originally had thought there would be. On this note, one thing I learned from the process is that it's generally not the easiest job on your house since they have to basically create an impervious clean room. Therefore, I would never recommend doing this process after you have freshly painted any walls or trim, if I wasn't planning on painting afterwards, I would be somewhat distressed about the condition of some of the paint and trim. I'm pretty sure this would be the case with any company doing this type of work and Tony was very explicit that they need to tape things down so this could happen - so no surprises here. After they completed the work, I came by in the evening to inspect it and they had missed a vent in the wall. I emailed that night and the next morning they had an entire crew out to make sure they finished the job as promised. Mistakes or oversights can happen, but the true mark of a customer service oriented company is how they handle them and Tony and his office manager, Stacey did a great job and completed everything the very next day to my complete satisfaction! I hope I never have to deal with popcorn ceilings again, but if I do I will absolutely hire Affordable Environmental to do the work!
Description of Work: I hired Tony to remove popcorn ceilings in two rooms, test two more rooms for asbestos and abate one vent with asbestos lining, plus check the rest of the registers / vents.
