The last guy was good. I had questions about the ones before that. They found there were too many lines coming off the main trunk line and my internet speed was down to almost nothing so he just went in and cleaned up all the wiring problem and it improved a lot. It was one of these times that Comcast set the appointment and he called an came and that was another thing that was unusual was to have it all work correctly. A lot of times they either don't show or don't call or can't do it at the last minute. The price is too much but they did just give me a deal for two years.
Description of Work: We've had Comcast here four times in the last 16 months.

We got a really good deal with them too. We have no complaints. We have used them for the past 2 months. The service has been fantastic compared to what we had. They came in and installed it, and showed us everything we needs, and I haven't had to call them every since. Everything has been fine.

See notes of "What did provide do?" Beyond that, they suck!
Description of Work: Comcast is so bad i will never be able to explain in the space provided and after hours of searching, I cannot find a valuable site for real discussion. Comcast demanded that I upgrade to their latest modem which included a wireless router I would not receive benefit from their upgrade unless I installed this new device. This was communicated to me via email, mail and every time is called Comcast for support. After some amount of research i learned their new router contained a feature i did not want to support; a "guest wireless" which was an unsecured access point; a marketing stunt advertising Comcast’s "hotspots" all over the country. The problem was, it uses paying customer’s access to advertise Comcast without any consideration to the people paying the bill...the Comcast customer. There is a very extensive advertising campaign supporting my claim, using a Hollywood star and his dog looking or a hotspot in the middle of nowhere. Comcast claims there is not impact to the paying customer's speed. Let me tell you about my experience. My download speeds have been as low as .033 Mbps on my wireless after installing the new modem. At this speed, even the "Internet Speed Test" websites "timeout". I also have proof that Comcast has altered my configuration to continue to allow that open “guest” wireless even after I have manually and verbally disabled the feature. I have been dealing with Comcast for over 30 days now (12/29/14) over this new modem issue. First; all I asked for was the documentation to configuration the new modem. Their response was to force every attempt I made to connect to internet was to redirected me to their "new account" page, even though I've been a customer for over 14 years, going all the way back to the ATT days when it was ATTBI (but I digress). I spent many hours trying to resolve the issue with the “redirect” problem. After two weeks and demanding they credit me for the loose of service and time spend troubleshooting their issue, my account was not credited. This was after several assurances I would receive that credit. My last attempt to resolve the issue did not result in an improvement. I have just spent 1:36 minutes on the phone (my cell phone minutes because they always tell you that you may be disconnected if you use a Comcast land line when they reboot your router). After explaining the problem to two different Support Reps and finally being transferred to their Onsite Service Technical line, I was told I did not qualify for “onsite” support. The last technician I talked with said my “power” indicator was in the “Red”. After I move the power cord from a power stripe/surge protector to directly plugged to the wall outlet, the “Red” power indicator didn’t change. I sat on “hold” for over 20 minutes and when a Service Representative finally returned, I was told I did not qualify for an “onsite” service call. I “re-explained” the situation and I suddenly began “eligible” for a “service call” but no one could be at my house for 5 days. When I demanded a “Service Technician” make a visit the next day, she kept restating that if would be 5 days. I stated that if no one was here tomorrow, I would install the old modem (which worked fine), there was no concession even when I stated that she was giving me approval to install my old modem. This is where I hung up…I’d had enough. In case anyone doubts my story, it is all recorded. I notified the first Comcast representative that I was recording our conversations and he assured me, he was also recording. Depending on further legal actions, I will make this recording available

Trying to switch back to internet only. Told could only deal with mangers. Sent away so specials will disappear.
Description of Work: They have changed my program several times. Talked me into equipment turning HD into SD 740P. Very unhappy with them. Because of lack of alternatives, will keep internet. TV is going. Originally signed up for $29 50MPS for 3 months then 9 more months same price $29 25 MBPS. However, then I was asked on phone if I would like to try TV for add'l $10. When not HD, told only another $10 HD and more channels. Still not broadcasting HD. Was then told could not have internet alone. Told must pay for TV box even if don't want. After 6 months it became $69 + HD box. (which is sd).

Overall, the speed of the internet was great. Unfortunately, Comcast has the monopoly on internet service in my area, so I didn't really have a choice in the matter. When you select paperless billing there aren't any reminders, so unless you click autopay, you won't hear from comcast. In my case, I would always forget to pay the bill. I would definitely ask comcast to send an e-reminder.
Description of Work: I had comcast high speed internet service.

It's lousy -- but they have no competition in the area. Main issues are as follows: 1) Very Expensive 2) They tagged my (personally owned) modem in their system -- such that I cannot give it away or sell it -- and why should they care about that? It's my property, not theirs. 3) frequent service interruption -- usually just for a minute at a time, but enough to interrupt movies, etc. while your internet connection re-establishes itself. 4) had to pay for a start-up kit, even though I didn't need any of it / already had my own stuff. It just went straight to the garbage, but I had to wait for it to arrive before Comcast would turn my internet on, which was a few days inconvenience. 5) the phone tree labrynth -- takes forever to reach somebody, and once you do, there's a 50-50 chance it's the wrong department, and they forward you back into the phone tree to try again -- frustrating, and takes a long time.

On a few occasions I have had to contact the technical department to help resolve issues with the TV reception. The technical support staff has always been very helpful and professional. They have always resolved the problem with minimal time and frustration on my part.

Bait and switch from $29.95 50 MBPS internet only. Then told only $10 extra will add HD TV. Then sent SD boxes. I said no and suddenly bill of $145 emailed. Refused and lied to in attempt to keep me from returning box. Then told will have correct service for $49 month for 1 year. I finally agreed. Then no confirmation email. (At this time at 30 days) Finally call back and told must be 6 I am trying to find other TV provider. Only viable choice for internet in my area. However, trying to find a TV provider.
Description of Work: Hired for internet only. Right after installation inquired for TV. Baited and switched for entire month. Always said HD only, do not want SD. However, continually changed to wrong service or price. Worst company ever.

In the past 8 months Comcast has never once sent me a bill, an email bill or phone call of a bill. I do however receive lots of spam email, letter mail and phone calls wondering why I have not paid my bill. It is rather difficult to do so when I never receive an invoice! I have repeatedly provided my email and address, yet still no bill. Comcast is an evil company. I have never felt that the price that I pay is fair, nor their methods of raising prices without the customer acknowledgement. Don't even bother with these guys. Use another company for your internet.
Description of Work: As usual, Comcast draws in new customers with fair prices ($50 for internet) and over time raises prices, adds random costs to the bill, and all of the sudden I am paying $80 a month for internet service ONLY.

I dislike the price, what I mean is they suck a customer in with a good deal and gradually raise it, and raise it. I sometimes feel like dumping them just because of that. It is so false. The customer thinks he has got a good deal if one has been a customer long time but some of the new customers they get good deals. I think it is a dumb way to do business. Overall I get good service but they have bad pricing. I am considering of dumping them.

There was no charge because I have a special contract with them. They come if I need maintenance because it is a prepaid contract. I called them to complain and they had me test it. Then they had me retest it and then I waited 2 days for them to send somebody out to fix it. I would have been really annoyed if I had to have waited a week; I thought 2 days was long enough. I am very unhappy with other aspects of the service but they have a monopoly here. They charge a fortune for long distance. I have been very disappointed previously with the quality of their service. If I had an option I probably wouldn’t use their service.
