The whole process was not pleasant. We went with Arrow because of the good reviews, but the insulation process was anything but easy. We have an older home that had nailed in dry wall. We decided to have the installation done through the home exterior in order to minimize clean up (we had a 3 month old at the time that we didnt want exposed to the dust/insulation particles). When the insulation was being blown in, many of our dry wall nails began to pop through the dry wall. We were never made aware of any of the potential problems with blowing in insulation through the home exterior, and this process created far more work than we were expecting. As for the exterior of our home, we were left with many siding boards damaged (which thankfully Arrow decided to pay for). Some of our siding could not get removed, and holes were instead cut into our siding. When these were initially patched, they looked awesome, but after only 1.5-2 months, the patch work began to show cracks, and now every hole that was created is visible from the street (some of the plugs have even been able to be moved around with very little pressure). This process has been a nightmare, and our home exterior, after almost 3 months, still is not what it was before the work was done.

Jason from Arrow responded timely to provide the estimate. He was very knowledgeable, profession, and friendly. The crew Hugo and Oslor showed up on time on the day of the job, worked on the 3 items efficiently and cleaned up well. The were not able to replace the dryer-vent cap and Arrow adjusted down the pricing to reflect that, which showed their integrity. I truly appreciate Arrow's way of conducting business and it shows that they mean it about providing excellent customer experience.

We met the owner at the Home Show in Feb and he was professional and informative. We liked him so much we did not get other estimates. The estimator was also professional and informative and answered all our questions. He was prompt with the estimate (although the office dropped the ball when we called back to contact him with a question). Because of changing computer systems they had too much difficulty giving us names of comparable references. The 2 man crew was here for 3 days (some partial), and the crew did change some due to illness. The job took a day longer than they said due to this illness, but we are not holding that against them because we had the flexibility. They showed up an hour early the first day. Crew appeared experienced, answered all of our questions, and gave us options in the one case where there was one. This is a high trust job because you can't really see what is happening in the walls, but they appeared to do a great job. We are very happy that there is no evidence on the exterior of our home that they were ever here! Cleanup was fine. The price seemed reasonable to us, but we can't compare to other quotes as we didn't get any. The utility company rebates make a big difference and we appreciated that Arrow applied them against the bill.
Description of Work: Arrow insulated the exterior walls of the top floor of our 2 story home, and insulated the attic of our home. Most of the wall insulation was done from the exterior by removing our cedar siding, drilling holes and blowing in cellulose, but in 2 places they had to drill holes in the drywall from the inside. The attic insulation was only a partial, in a low pitch area. (The rest of our home is cathedral ceiling with no access).

This is an update for an earlier review. The people at Arrow made good on our agreed upon price, and refunded the amount that they overcharged. They also returned to complete work that had been overlooked. What they haven't done is explain to us what exactly they sprayed in our home prior to blowing in the insulation. This company told us they were trying to obtain information from the chemical supplier concerning safety, but that company isn't talking! When I showed the available information to a chemical expert, he became very concerned about our safety as well as the safety of the poor guys who spend their days spraying it. On March 4, 2017 we were sent a copy of an email sent to the chemical company requesting their response to our concerns. Seven days later, we're still waiting to hear something. My wife and I continue to suffer headache and upper respiratory congestion when entering our home.

Electric work was excellent - done quickly and with no damage inspite of being in an older home. Insulation work did not start off well, I asked for cellulose instead of fiberglass but on the day of the job they forgot about this request. They did complete this as requested on a follow up visit. Also they forgot to insulate some water pipes which they prompty did after I pointed it out. Overall I would hire them again.

Everything went well. The crew were professional and tidy.
Description of Work: We hired Arrow Insulation to blow-in insulation in between the floors of our house prior to installing hardwood floors. Our house's joists were originally hollow, empty spaces with no insulation, and we were concerned about voices and TV noise carrying between rooms after the carpets were replaced with hardwoods. Arrow insulated a floor space of about 1,410sf plus 4 flights of stairs and two landings for $3,789 including tax. They did this by drilling one or two 2" holes in between each joist in the subfloor, and then slowly blew-in green insulation which is similar to shredded newspaper (it appeared to be a fibrous wood pulp product—no fiberglass). The two man crew was professional, tidy, and did the job to spec. After they were finished they hammered in wooden plug-stoppers (like wooden corks/stoppers) into their bore holes and then sealed the surface flush with a special glue. The new hardwoods will go in perfectly over the flush top of the plugs. Although it is too soon to say how much improvement in sound deadening this job provides, I can already tell the floors sound less hollow and drum-like. The house feels more 'solid' (slightly quieter steps with less reverb) when walking about, and I'm sure our rooms will feel much warmer (or cooler in summer) with the added insulation slowing drafts in the formerly empty subfloors. We solicited two bids for the project, and Arrow was about 20% lower than the other bid.

I then hired another (reputable!) company to clean out our crawl space. When they removed insulation, they discovered a whole wall that had not been sealed by Arrow! I am enclosing a photo taken down there, you can see the wall of the house, and the foundation. That whole length had not been sealed!! The rodents were back in our crawl space right away after Arrow left! The new company had to finish our work the next day, they didn't even have enough sealant for that long wall! So, unless you want to pay for the work to be re-done, DO NOT use this company. All the "good" reviews for this company should have an inspection before posting anything. This cost us $3,000 in 2013, and now three years later another $3,500. What a wast of money!!
Description of Work: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!We hired Arrow Insulation in 2013 to clean out, seal and insulate our house we had just purchased in Mukilteo, Wa. They were professional and we thought everything went great. We recently sold the house, and at the buyers' inspection, it was evident that we had extensive rodent activity in our crawl space! I contacted Arrow, and a very rude receptionist said there are no guarantees for their work, even though done only 3 years ago. They would charge me $139.00 to send someone out, them another $79.00 to come back 10 days later, and tell us what needed to be done.

An older section of our home was in serious need of an insulation upgrade, so my wife and I contacted Puget Sound Energy, who referred us to several contractors as part of their energy savings program. Arrow sent Jason to assess our situation. He was friendly and professional, answered all of our questions, and their estimate came in significantly lower than a competitor. We scheduled the two-day job. Arrow was very accommodating when we had to reschedule due to a plumbing issue, and even extended their estimate an extra 30 days. The first crew of two, headed by Vicente, took about 5 hours drilling holes in the siding, then blowing dense-packed cellulose into the wall cavity. They did a thorough cleanup, and even put a pattern in the spackled plugs to better match the siding in preparation for painting. Hugo and Gabriel arrived the next day to do the crawlspace work. Starting just before 10 AM, they worked until 7 PM, ensuring the best possible job. They removed all of the old plastic sheeting and remnants of duct insulation, sealed and insulated the ducts, wrapped the plumbing, installed batts between the joists on the under-surface of the flooring, deodorized, put in new plastic sheeting, constructed and installed a new crawlspace access door and installed an additional interior carbon monoxide detector. All of the employees we interacted with were conscientious, friendly, and thorough. We have already recommended them to a friend, and would definitely call Arrow again for any of our insulation needs.

We had them give us a bid before we bought our house and we were not present, so I can't attest to that. However, when it came time to have the work done they were super. They referred us to a lab down in Seattle to have our vermiculite insulation tested for asbestos. Once that came back clean we scheduled them to come out. Their workers showed up with two trucks, hung plastic to block off the area they were coming and going to keep dust down in the rest of the house. There were so many workers they were able to work basically non-stop from 9am to 3pm using rotating breaks. This was much appreciated. Quick, efficient, clean and kept to their bid. They are awesome!

FANTASTIC job by Arrow. From getting a quote to the installation, has been a great experience and HIGHLY recommended. Arrow did a a great job with the HomePrint assessment, answering all my questions and not making me feel rushed at all. The assessment was free, as a result of the program with Puget Sound Energy. When performing the attic insulation work, the two workers showed up on-time, and worked hard through rainy conditions. They even braved the roof (safely...) to perform the bathroom fan venting on our shake shingle roof! The cost was very competitive and reflects a $600 rebate reduction (original $1300) from PSE, which Arrow processed (no effort on my part). I would hire Arrow again for energy and insulation services.
Description of Work: Arrow performed a HomePrint energy assessment for us, which resulted in a recommendation of air sealing and further insulating our attic, as well as externally venting our upstairs bathroom fan.

Professional from start to finish! Arrow reviewed our project and provided us various insulation options. They did the quotes on site and printed them in their truck! We decided to go with a blanket and batt insulation in our 2x4 walls. One of our other contractors had issues which created a tight window for our insulation project. Arrow gladly worked with us on the schedule and fit our project in. They were on time, clean, and did a great job!

Incredibly poor quality of work, they split the drywall in my walls in three locations, soffit vents had crude scratches around them as if they were marking where to cut with a screwdriver, attic hatch weatherizing was poorly completed, they didn't adequately caulk the siding they removed and did a poor job replacing the siding they did remove. The owner was insistent that their poor quality of work was the result of my house being old, which is complete garbage. I had another contractor come through and verify that the quality of work was awful. To their credit they sent out a carpenter after many back and forth emails with the owner and he was able to fix some of the problems, however I would not go with them again for anything.

We contracted them to fix our problem with roof rats, but they did everything wrong for a very expensive price. They did shoddy and ineffective work repairing the holes used by rats to gain entry into our atitic. They used rat poison instead of traps, causing rats to die, decay and smell in our attic. They had to come back six months after doing the job to re-do their work. The work failed again after an additional six months, and although their own employees said that they did a horrible job and should make good on thei original repair, management refused and tried instead to sell us a monthly service to trap rats on the ground. Unfortunately, the experts say this service is useless for roof rats which tend to eat in trees and not on the ground. They really don't seem to know what they are doing. We cannot recommend Arrow Insulation for roof rat problems.

I did not use this provider. Everything went very smoothly until the bid was provided, but I emailed back to their office staff with questions later the same day and never received a response. (It has been nearly 3 full weeks since my message and I never received a followup email or phone call.) Price was competitive, but that was enough of a red flag to remove them from consideration. Went with a different provider with nearly identical rates but much better communication and follow-through.
