I Do Not recommend using Darryl Wood as your contractor. Darryl Wood, Wood Construction Monroe, WA was hired as building contractor on a project to add a small addition to my house. The project was started in August 2015 & I was told would be complete by October 2015. May 2016 the project sat all but abandoned. I ended my working relationship with Darryl Wood in May 2016 with the project still incomplete. Darryl Wood abandoned the project several times...3 times the lapse was for over a month. I had no warning or communication of his leaving and no communication during his absence. I paid on time and did not quibble about the amounts charged as they were in keeping with his proposal. Besides the crew & him disappearing for weeks, months at a time....Mr Wood has either several poor sub-contractors or he lacks supervisory skills. There were many mistakes made. Some small-which I did not bring to his attention- Some large i.e. •leaning foundation work, •framework & interior walls not done as shown on the county approved Structural Engineering Plan, •electrical wiring covered over by foam insulation and wallboard. When these mistakes were brought to Mr Wood's attention, his reaction was to became angry-not at the mistake - but at whomever pointed out the mistakes and he threaten to walk off the job. Mr Wood also neglected to call the inspectors in a timely manner. When I realized the inspector had not been called and the inspection permits had not been signed off, I called the county myself to schedule the inspectors visits. This happened no less than 3 times. I had used Darryl Wood, Wood Construction on a bathroom remodel months prior to this addition project. The bathroom remodel was under the direction of an interior designer and the job was finished and done nicely, so I was completely surprised and disappointed in manner he handled/neglected my new addition project.

Darryl came over, protected our carpet, covered his shoes and set up a tent to protect the room from dust. I was grateful! He then cut out some of the wall and installed the electrical work for the outside porch light we wanted, without opening up the wall. Then the cut out a top portion of the wall to install a support beam to support the weight of the house so the door wouldn't be holding up the house. :) The next day he came over to cut out and install the door, patch up the wall and texture the wall again. Over the weekend I painted the wall. Then he came back to put in the stain matched trim he'd ordered. We ended up choosing to build the porch ourselves to save a buck, and he was kind enough to give us some pointers. Overall, it was a beautiful, quality job. It's been a completely wonderful experience. Darryl was recommended to us by a friend who loved his work too.

He was friendly and courteous. He arrived on time, but his follow up was unprofessional. I didn't hear from him for more than a week after the initial meeting. I had to actually call him. He ended up just leaving a voice message with minimal details. He said how much the job would cost. He offered no more information. I haven't heard from him since. I would not recommend him to others. His bid was in line with other service providers I contacted.
