They did a great job on the roof. They were actually a very qualified and intelligent group of people. They very much knew what they were doing. They had separate people who did the sheet level and there were separate people who did the downspout. So I was impressed with that. There wasn't just kind of one general worker but they had separate people who were really good at those individual tasks. The guy that actually put the shingles on was excellent. They did nice work. You can actually see that the roof is well done in line. I spent a lot on this service. They were more than the other bids that I got. I had a lot of sheet metal work redone around the chimney and so that was an extra charge. It was not the lowest bid but the highest bid. I was actually happy with it because they had individual people that did the individual parts and pieces. So I went with the highest bid and they were the highest. Their price was high. Their quality was excellent. They were very responsive. They were here when they said they would be. They were absolutely very professional. I will use their services again in the future.

The salesman assured us of the ability, flexibility, and responsiveness of the crew and "project manager," but the whole outfit was a disappointment in all these areas of advertised excellence of communication. We were explicit (we presented specification documents to be sure we did not miss any of our requirements), but this, rumored, "project manager" never visited the job site or communicated with us in any way. Further, details of our expectation, based on the salesman's promises and our specifications, were completely ignored or violated, as indicate below: We toured the site with the salesman, to be certain State's crew could install the (bright) 14" Solatube skylight we wanted. We measured the spaces with the salesman and were assured they could and would do this installations, specifically including the minor modifications needed in the framing. A few days into the project, the crew installed the wrong (12", dim) solatube. When we asked why our specification had not been fulfilled, the worker said "it don't fit", despite that we had been explicit with the salesman and had been assured the crews would make the minor modifications needed for the 14" installation. We pointed out a long valley in the roof that routinely caused rain-water to overshoot the gutters until we installed a diverter to prevent this, and asked that caution be taken to ensure the issue did not re-surface. We requested a meeting with the "project manager" to review these items and were assured we'd have one. This important review meeting never happened. In fact, we received no calls, no letters, no communication of any kind. The grounds of our property contain an extensive and expensive exotic plant collection and we specified that crews were not to walk on any planting beds, lest they damage dormant root-crowns, bulbs, or other specific plantings that a might not be visible in any given season. These issues were to be detailed in the promised meeting with the project manager that never happened. One day, the crew just showed up and started stomping around in the beds and cramming ladders to suit themselves, in direct violation of the explicit terms of the contract. The crew and foreman, though, were everything the management was not. When we alerted the foreman to the violated specifications, he was immediately responsive. He fixed (re-installed, correctly) the solatube, removed the ladders from the beds, and improvised a diverter. Because the job was done in dry weather there was no opportunity to judge the effectiveness of this diverter, but we were promised that they'd "swing by" when it was "really raining," but that inspection has never happened either. At a point in our communication, the crew joked "looks like they threw us under the bus again," so communication may be a chronic incompetence of State's management. Several months after the completion of the job, disturbingly, we got a "follow-up" call from the sales department, asking if we ever chose a contractor for our job, despite that they had done it themselves. Wow. The roofing workers, themselves, were responsive, capable, and flexible. The salesman and phantom "project manager", whoever that might have been, were not. If you choose to contract with State, hire your own project manager, or count on doing it yourself and attend closely to the performance of each specification, because State will not.

The roof is great. It's high-quality, and they did very nice work. They completed their work on time.

They did a good job. The windows are actually are good and I like the way they look. They put in 14 windows. Two of them were sliding glass doors and 2 of the others were fairly large, larger than the normal. I would not use this company for windows in the future. I would rather go with a company that specializes in windows. But for the roof and gutter I would use them.

Overall, they were on time and punctual. The current roofer new what he was doing...the rest were clueless.

It took a long time because I had to get a homeowner's association approval so it took a long time before they could do it. They did a fine job but I haven't been able to check it out underneath because the weather has been so crappy. I wanted them to put latticework on it but we hadn't talked about it and they wanted too much money to do that. I didn't want it to be an animal sanctuary so I'm going to have to do that myself because they wanted too much money for that. They were a little pricey but I went with it. I might use them again.

Very well. Quick and professional service. Afterwards, when electrician came out he had to replace the stanchion for the main line; State Roofing was quick to come back and replace the flashing.

Avoid unless you want to pay much more for their "brand"

He came out as promised and spent a lot of time looking around. He said that I needed to replace the whole roof. He then suggested a means to handle the issue, because we were not sure how long we were going to be in that property and didn’t want to replace the roof. He said he will call me back, but never called me back. I then called him and spoke to his secretary. He left a message on my cell phone. He just said that the people whom he thought might do that kind of work couldn’t do it. Basically he didn’t want to do it.

Bill Gray, the salesman, saved us a lot of money and danger to our landscaping by putting the new roof over the existing one. The other three bidders all wanted to tear off the old roof (which wasn't required by code.) That saved us enough money for a skylight and a Solatube. We thought we wanted Solatubes in the kitchen and bathroom, but he didn't think we'd be happy with one in the kitchen, because it wouldn't give enough more light than the window at one end, so we got a skylight for $100 or so more money. We're delighted. The long, narrow skylight is a design element in our long, narrow kitchen - gives it a much more modern appearance, eliminates the need to turn on the lights, ( and gives us a view of a tree through the ceiling and cloud shadows on the floor.) The bathroom has no windows and is much smaller than the kitchen so we can't compare the amount of light, but the light from the skylight is definitely more even. They brought a machine to form and cut the roofing automatically and eliminated all waste and the time, labor, and inaccuracies of manual measuring and cutting. The job started and finished ahead of schedule and they vacuumed up all the wayward nails. The roofing material has a special coating that reflects incoming sunlight and holds heat in the house - eligible for a $1,500 government rebate - and the stuff really works. The house is noticeably cooler in hot weather. The company is seriously green. They have multi-million dollar equipment for preparing roofing waste to be recycled. I've had a number of other experiences with contractors over the years and this was definitely the best.

The initial estimate gave us better and cheaper ideas than what we thought we'd have to do. We are very happy with how quickly everything got done and the quality of the work.

They installed a new Euroshake roof for two of our neighbors and did a good job. Since Euroshake was one of the materials allowed for our neighborhood as an alternate roofing material for a traditional cedar roof, we asked them to come out and give us a quoted. They were on time but instead of giving us a work description like most of the other companies we received a quote from, the sales rep. from State Roofing started writing down a number. We were shocked when we first saw the intial number because we were expecting half of what he wrote down (we knew what our neighbors paid for their new roof). When he saw our expression and when we told him what our neighbors paid, his number started coming down too. We got a final quote with a detail description via email and it was 30K less than the initial price. It was still too high but to be fair, our roof is more complicated than our neighbors but is that 11K in price difference??? That was 3 weeks ago and just a few days ago, they called and told us that there was a price reduction and wanted to come out and remeasure our roof. We made an appointment for yesterday at 5:00 but no one showed up and no one called either. When my husband called to confront them, they said there was a mistake and the last quoted we received was the final quote. We are now leaning towards Davinci roof. The price is about 6K less than what State Roofing quoted but it looks as nice as the Euroshake. My husband really liked the Euroshake roof and since they are the only contractor in Washington state, all they had to do to get our work was to be honest up front and give us a comparable price becuase they are the only company authorized to install Euroshake.

I would not recommend them to anyone. They are a high-pressure sales company. The price stated very high and then they meet off site and say they are talking to their manager. It ended up being $13,000. It's a scam.

We were interested in getting our comp roof replaced w/ a metal roof (tho our current roof probably has more years left on it). I called State Roofing and was treated courteously and a confirmation phone call was made the day before as a reminder...which was fine. The State Roofing representative was prompt and courteous.Sales pitch was a bit too heavy on "family business' ya-da-ya-da, could have been shortened; obviously there's a sense of pride in being in the business for so many years....After some measuring and some sales sample shown, their rep. went back to his vehicle to create an estimate then. (I had figured a formal estimate would be sent or presented at a later date - which has been my past experience). Approx 25 mins later, the Representative returned not initially presenting the estimate(s), but asked about financing options which they offer; I found that odd as I had no idea what $$ would be, but was preparing to pay cash. So, when the Rep presented a simple 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of copier paper with "quality choices" and 3 ridiculously high figures for each type of roof presented I couldn't believe it! $60K Rubber /$51K metal /$36K comp-style for a roof on a simple house! He immediately took 20% off saying those figures were before discounts. Even those figures were ridiculous. We parted ways and he promised to make a follow up call 5 days later - which never happened. I did send an email to the company and asked for something more than the simple figures provided. Never heard from the office either by phone or email. The Punctuality grade was dropped from a B to D because of poor post appointment follow-up. I've dealt with Jorve and Metal Roof Specialties and have been much more impressed with their presentations including the costs, too. State may be a fixture in Snohomish County in roofing, but they really need to work on other aspects of the business. Discussing financing immediately, bad manners; a simple sheet with just figures...bad manners and gives the appearance of unprofessionalism or not taking the meeting seriously. I had the plans for my house available, and the Rep didn't even bother to use it - it became obvious why - it looked like he didn't know how to read plans. Would not use company or recommend to others.

The quality of service and professionalism was fine.

They were excellent and I would use their services in the future too.

Their salesman was very knowledgeable and very open to questions. He brought along samples and even honored an expired coupon I had. Their crew worked quickly and professionally. They have their own microwave on their truck for the crew to heat their lunches. I think they also had their own porta-potty. The demo and removal of the old roof was quick and we never even had to have a dumpster in our driveway since they dump everything directly into their truck that was backed up to our house. I liked that. Once the new roof was installed, they go around the perimeter of the house with a large, rolling magnet to pick up any roofing staples so that my kids wouldn't step on them. The cleanup was pretty good considering the mess it makes and they were very careful around my plantings. We've loved the roof so far and haven't had any problems. I think they are very well priced overall and have been in business waaaaaay longer than most of the big-name roofing companies you see out there. They also have their own dedicated Canadian shake suppliers so you know where the stuff comes from and it's good quality.

We couldn't be happier. When their rep (Will) came out to do the estimate, it was soft sell all the way -- no high-pressure sales tactics like we had seen on other bids. When we called the main office to inquire about an exact start date, the receptionist (Cammy) was friendly and helpful. The work crews were professional, friendly, and extremely helpful -- we are having the house repainted soon, and we had the painters come out to look at the house. The State Roofing guys patiently talked to them and showed them exactly how to work with and around metal roofs. The owner even showed up unannounced one day to check on progress. They are definitely more expensive than some other companies -- they readily acknowledge that fact -- but you definitely get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

I was never able to get a quote from these guys. The estimator cancelled the appt as he needed to consult with a supervisor about the job after driving by my home earlier. Weeks later, someone called to see if I received everything I needed. I said "no, he called to reschedule and I never heard from him again." After setting up a new appt, the estimator called 45 minutes after the appointment was to start to say he was tied up. Q: If this is the responsiveness I should expect from this company before the job starts, how well willl the respond if I have a problem with my roof later. I would never a contractor who gives this level of poor service. I hired another large local company to perform the work and they did an awesome job.

We used them repeatedly. They did the original roof and had it repaired after it was damaged when we had a huge windstorm 2.5 years ago. We had problem with it leaking and they came out a number times and finally in March when they came out they acknowledged that it was something they had done. They ripped of everything they did and redid it and did not charge us anything and it has been satisfactory ever since. We have also had several prior experiences that have been nothing, but good.

They did a great job. They were here one day and looked at it, the next day they cam and took the old one down. In two days I got a brand new deck. Their work was good and they were punctual. They were prompt and on time.

Very poor. The estimator had to be reminded he missed the first meeting, which was then rescheduled. The company "requires" both husband and wife be present for the bid. It was a waste of 3 hours of my wife's time. He tried to sell us things we didn't need, showed us doom and gloom photos pressuring us into higher priced products. He also tried to force the signing of a contract by offering a price discounts only if we scheduled the work right then, before he left, with no time to compare. The advertised "0% financing" is misleading, and only 0% for a short time. Then the absurdly higher interest rate kicks in. The salesman refused to provide written bids for three different products (composition shingles, metal roof, rubber roof), saying their pricing was private. When their "financing specialist" showed up the bid was suddenly $2,500 higher. When we refused their bid / contract the salesman attempted to apologize, saying he was sorry if we were misinformed. NO offers to rectify the mistakes. Why did we put up with this BS for so long? Because State Roofing is the only authorized installer for Euroshake / Euroslate. They have no competitors for these products. My advice? Get a high end composition shingle, installed by Star Roofing. half the price, lifetime warranty.

Everything went well. They were a little slow on fixing some minor things. They cleanup wasn't as well as it could have been but overall they were very professional.

They were a little bit more expensive than the other bids we received. They did really good work. We have had a few small problems, but they have been out here as quickly as possible and taken care of any problems. They were prompt and easy to work with.

I was very satisfied with the installation. I was very pleased with the style and their ability to do the work. I like how the roof style they did is easy to walk on and isn't slippery. It's guaranteed to last for 50 years. I did have a small issue with a worker, but I mentioned it to the owner and he took of care of it very promptly and professionally.
