Colin and his crew tore out the cedar decking, pipe railing and stairs for our large second-story deck and replaced with TimberTech boards with black metal posts and cable railing. He evaluated the existing support structure and found it to be in good condition so it didn't need replacing. I was happy with that, since it definitely saved me some time and money. He did a great job with all the planning, especially in redesigning and relocating our horrible, unsafe staircase that had a 180-degree turn and very narrow steps. It did take a bit longer to complete the job than I would have liked, due to some short workdays and shortage of helpers at times (it was definitely not a one-man job!). Also, it took a while to install the cable railing - I think he had only done one cable railing installation previously, and so took some extra time to be sure that it was done correctly. Colin also replaced a few pieces of lap siding that had some rot where the old deck met the house, as well as a couple other ones that had been drilled into by woodpeckers. He did charge me extra for that work. Nine months later, I get many compliments on how beautifully the deck turned out and how much the cable railings add to the styling. It was an expensive project (especially with the use of higher-end materials), but I wanted it to be done well and safely, especially considering that it is second-story. The total cost was just as estimated before we started. I would definitely hire Colin for a future project.
