I reached out to the team at North Creek Roofing to fix a leak I had around a sky light and some other little issues on the roof. The team at North Creek Roofing was able to just fix the issue where as everyone else that came out wanted to completely replace the whole thing. North Creek Roofing is a very honest company and I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I needed to have a leak repaired last September.

Our experience with North Creek Roofing was, overall, very positive. Josh, the estimator, was available by phone and email to answer all our questions during the selection phase of our project. We always felt he was there to help with anything we needed. He was very thorough with his explanation of the process of the work they would do. We wanted some extra things that they had not done before. The first was to have the ice and water shield, which is usually only about foot or so wide, extended further back up the roof- about 30 ? 36 inches, not usual for this area but they had done this before. The second was cellulose insulation. They were more familiar with blown-in fiberglass insulation, while we were looking for a ?greener? product and read out about this type of cellulose. The third was the replacement of our leaf filter gutter guards with a different type they had not used before. After we gave them the information we had, and they researched it themselves, they agreed they would do it. All of our communications with Josh and subsequently with John, the production manager, were very clear. We were very impressed that Dan, the company?s owner, wrote a letter thanking us for choosing them and reiterating the installation process, who to contact, and the procedures they would take to ensure the job would go efficiently. We liked that fact that each person we talked to was very friendly and made sure we were aware of each part of the process they would take. They were very efficient. The roof materials were delivered a day ahead of time, so that when the crew arrived they could begin right away. The roofing guys worked very quickly, taking off the old roof and adding the new one. There were some pieces of plywood sub-roofing that needed replacing, and we also wanted a couple of other pieces replaced. They were very good about explaining everything, and made sure we understood what the costs would be for the extra plywood. We thought the prices were reasonable, and agreed to have them replaced. After the roofers took off a good bit of the old roof, a couple of guys set up the blower/mixer machine for the insulation. Sometimes, though, things can go wrong. Periodically, I would go out to see the progress of the roofers. At one point I looked up and noticed that the ice shield seemed narrower than I expected, so I asked the installer whether this was the extra shield we asked for. It?s a good thing I asked; since the shield the installer was using was not the width we?d ordered. As it turns out, the notation in their job order for the ice shield was accidentally overlooked. The supervisor was very apologetic and assured us they would correct it, which they did, even though it meant they had to remove several rows of shingles and buy more to replace them. They, and we, were happy I noticed it in time. A second little mistake happened with the insulation. They used a ruler that was normally used for adding additional fiberglass insulation, not realizing that cellulose insulation would require a different depth of cover over our existing insulation. Unfortunately, they did not realize the problem until they used up all the required amount of insulation, but still had not covered the entire attic. Once they found out what had happened, they immediately began to correct it by redistributing the cellulose around the attic to the correct depth. We would never have known about this if they had not told us. It?s quite likely that some other company with less integrity would have said nothing and not bothered to correct it. Or, they could have just as easily corrected it and not bothered to mention to us. I liked the fact that they will admit that sometimes things go wrong, but will make every attempt to make it right. The third mistake was with the new leaf guard covers we wanted for the gutters. During the estimating phase of this project, the company was very willing to investigate the type and brand of leaf guard system we wanted. We did give them the company?s name and web site, and they got in contact with the company to query the system. Once they did that, they agreed that it looked like a good system and were willing to order it and install it. This system is actually designed to be installable by a homeowner, so it is very simple, really, to install. Or, so we thought. The first part of the roof that was redone was on the back of the house, so one of the roofers started installing the new leaf guard. I saw too late that several sections of the cover had been installed backwards. Of course, once realized, they sought to correct it, but the roofer?s solution to correction was also a problem. It just didn?t fit right. And later, by a day or so, I noticed that things about the leaf guard just didn?t look right. When one of the supervisors came out to see the work, we were talking about a piece of gutter he was adding over a part of lower roof, and I mentioned the leaf guard. He saw that the roofers had bent the rim of the guard in a way that caused water to overshoot the cover and drip off the front of the gutter. He was able to fix part of it. I thought that maybe that was the end of it, and everything else with the gutters was fine. With later inspection, myself, I found that there were other problems with the fit of it. The surface in places was bent and was not level, causing potential problems for proper drainage. I was definitely not happy with how it looked. I called the company back and explained what I had seen and thought about the installation of the guard, and after they considered it, they called me back and said they were going to replace the entire thing. They explained they would bring a gutter installer they work with to examine it, and do whatever was necessary to make it right. A couple days later, the installer was out and they went about taking off the guard, reinforcing the gutters to make sure they were OK, then installing the guards in the correct manner. We were very pleased with the result. All of this just confirms for us that in spite of some problems, this company has the integrity to want to make things right. We are very pleased with the roof, the insulation, and the leaf guard. Even though sometimes things will happen unexpectedly, this company will try to do what?s right. We don?t have any reservations about recommending this company to others, or using them in future, if needed.
Description of Work: We wanted to replace our old roof and fix some of the sub-roofing, if necessary. We also wanted to add more insulation to the attic, and requested blown-in cellulose insulation. We also requested a wider than norma water & ice shield under the shingles, and to replace the leaf guard system we had with another type.

RUBBER ROOF? BEWARE: a different company was selling rubber roofing and refused to price composite. However, when I did research on various roofing materials to choose from a manufacturers site clearly stated that rubber roofing should not be used in rainy or highly humid areas.
Description of Work: I have a 1450 sq ft tri-level with a roof facing all directions, so a bit more than a two sided roof. Dan, gave us this estimate (top of the line installation) better grade composite and explained all aspects of what pricing means in roofing - ei: nail width apart and so forth. He was pushy, he was professional, friendly and knowledgable. Nor, did he speak negatively about either of the other two top roofers (according to research online) we had called for estimates. When all was said and done, we chose North Creek, hands down. The roof looks like it was done yesterday, not in 2008. GREAT JOB and SERVICE,

I had holes in the roof all these years and they put on the plates that were to be originally supposed to be on there. They basically charged the cost of each one which was $150 and the labor. They were reasonable and they came out promptly. It didn’t take a long to do the job at all. I was very happy with them and would refer them to anybody. They were very responsive and I don’t have anything negative to tell about them. I would rate them high overall.

From my first call to Sue to set up an estimate appointment to the end of the job everyone at North Creek roofing was professional competent and polite. They were willing to accommodate our request not to have a dumpster in our driveway. Because our job was during the rainy months our start date was tentative based on weather conditions. The PM John kept in touch with us to let us know what was going on and when they would be able to start. The property was cleaned every night before they left for the day. The inspector from the city had nothing but praise for North Creek and their work. The job went smoothly with no surprises, and the estimate was spot on.

I had so little expectations that I'd be able to get someone to come that day. I had guests planned for Thanksgiving dinner the next day and the forecast called for several days of of heavy rain. What a blessing that I picked them from your list!
Description of Work: It was the day before Thanksgiving. I was working from home because I had to leave for a medical diagnostic procedure at 1:30. Around noon, before my eyes, heavy rain started coming into my living room window saturating towels faster than I could replace. When I called, Sue the owner said that all of her workers were out on jobs, but someone would contact me soon. I received a call by 12:45 from John Frazier who was miles away. He said he could be there before I left for my appointment. When he arrived, he quickly assessed the problem and quoted a verbal estimate. He worked in the pouring rain fixing a 2 story gutter and repairing the flashing around my window while I was gone. When I got home, everything was done. The bill matched his estimate exactly.

Throughout the entire process they were very professional. It took longer to get the estimate than to completely re-roof our house. They came when they said they would and completed the job when they said they would. I am very happy with the quality of work that they did. They even went around the house and driveway with a big magnet on wheels to pick up any nails and staples that had fallen off the room while they were removing the old roofing material. Their people including the actual workers were always polite. ReI could not be happier with the job this company did.

North Creek Roofing refused to do roof inspection on the basis that there MIGHT be raccoon babies in my attic (which would have been placed there by mama raccoon after tearing roof shingles off). I wanted them to confirm either that my roof was in good shape or that there was roof damage and, if so, what it would take to repair the roof. I did NOT request that they remove any animals. After their refusal to even inspect my roof, I have no respect for their company. I will not recommend them to anyone.

We got them on Angie's List. We paid him $200 per sky light. Several months later in January we had someone come to check for another problem and incidentally found out we had a massive mold problem in our attic. It turned out the mold problem was from the leak, he didn't really stop it when he replaced the sky light. He only stopped the leak from coming into our kitchen where we could see it, but the leak was still there and going into our attic. It caused us to have $7000 in mold remediation done. Our insurance covered the bulk of it, but we still had to pay a couple thousand dollars. I called them and he did end up coming out after being resistant at first. He said yes he should have replaced the flashing but that's an extra charge and I was trying to do it as inexpensively as I could for you. I thought that would have fixed it, he said. I told him he should have told me this before I had a mold problem. I wanted him to fix the work without charging, but he wanted the full price. I was upset by that and he finally decided to do it, he charged me materials but not labor so it was $175. It did get fixed. I know my insurance did go after him and try to get him to pay for the mold but he wouldn't admit to anything. He was very unprofessional when I first told him about the problem, but he should get some credit for being some what reasonable but I would never recommend him to anyone. He said he should always just replace the flashing, but I think he should thoroughly check out the problem before he makes assumptions.
Description of Work: North Creek Roofing Inc replaced our skylights. We had some kind of a leak so they came out to look at it. They told us it's the skylight. He checked the attic and said there wasn't a lot of mold and they would repair the skylight and we shouldn't have any more problems.

Response from North Creek Roofing Inc
I would like to address the facts stated on this report, as they are just not the truth. First, North Creek Roofing never went into the attic, the customer was very cost conscience and did not want to spend a lot of money. She was informed that the skylight was leaking and the flashing was marginal, from that information the customer decided to replace just the skylight. She then agreed to let North Creek Roofing know if there was still any kind of a leak. The customer stated in her report; “he only stopped the leak from coming into the kitchen where we could see it, but the leak was still there and coming into our attic”. With the amount of water she is talking about, there is absolutely no way there would NOT be some indication of a leak in the kitchen. There is no evidence that what she contracted North Creek Roofing to repair continued to leak, on the contrary, the flashing that she choose not to fix, continued to be the problem. On our second visit, there was no mention of mold by the customer. North Creek Roofing did not find out about the mold until the insurance company sent papers to us wanting us to pay for the mold clean-up. On our phone conversation with her insurance company, by comparing the dates and when the claims were made, her insurance company completed exonerated North Creek Roofing of any liability and responsibility. I would gladly talk to anyone who has questions regarding this comment. If you look at all of the comments made about North Creek Roofing on Angie’s List by our customers, you will see that we have a great record of taking care of our customers and work very hard to maintain that record for you. Thank you Dan McNeely North Creek Roofing/Owner

I had two leaks in a roof that was only four years old. I called north Creek Roofing based on their excellent reviews on Angie's List. Chris called two days later and we set up a time a few days later for him to come out, look the roof over and give me an estimate. Chris pointed out that both leaks were most likely caused by debris that had collected in the middle of one valley and at the end of a "dead valley" where it ended at a dormer. He said the latter condition could improved with a PVC layer under the valley and up the side of the dormer wall under the board and batten siding. Chris gave me a verbal estimate and I received a proposal via email the next day. Six days later Chris called and said they could perform the work that day if it was convenient. He came with two roofers and he showed them the area and explained the work to be done. He left to check out another job and then returned about the time the work was complete. Chris went up and checked the work to make sure it had been done to his satisfaction. The roofers had also cleaned the other valley of debris and the gutter below which had filled with sand and leaves, and also repaired a piece of ridge that was torn. I feel I got honest service at a fair price. They did only work that needed to be done and did a little more besides. I highly recommend North Creek Roofing and will cal them if I ever have roofing issues in the future.

Called about a small roof leak in my garage. They were responsive and came out to give an estimate. The representative who came up identified the problem quickly and noted it was a very minor issue. Stated I could do the work (and even offered to provide the materials for me). Due to the angle of the roof, I asked that his team do it. He felt bad that he had to charge a set amount but the piece of mind of having a professional do it (and the work is guaranteed) far outweighed the cost. The workers showed up a few days later, completed the work very quickly. The representative again apologized for having to charge a set, minimum amount. The work looks good. I would definitely recommend North Star Roofing to others in the future.

North Creek Roofing, Chris called schedule the initial appointment to understand what was going on. Chris arrived on time, introduced himself and presented his business card. I showed him the problem inside the house and he went outside and went on the roof to investigate. He discovered the roof vent looked suspect (which was also noticeable from looking in the attic) I was provided a written estimate the next day, very reasonable compared to other estimates. Once I agreed and returned to North Creek roofing, I was on the schedule the following day. Chris and his crew arrived ontime, performed the work and it appeared that Chis followed up with a Quality Check. During the repair the discovered the roof ridge in the same area seemed suspect, they fixed that also. I will have to wait for the rain to verify the roof is totally fixed, and I believe it is. Upon completition, Chris reviewed all they did with me. And as they left, they said have a nice weekend!

The man from North Creek came out in less than a week, which was OK because there wasn't much water and the leak only happened when it rained a lot, which at that time of year wasn't very often. He figured out that the problem was a fault vent tube, for which we needed a plumber, not a roofer. And he didn't even charge us. He seemed knowledgeable and honest and I'd be happy to call him again. My only issue was that it was difficult to get to talk to a person, rather than leave a message, when I first called. After they got back to me the first time, I didn't have any further problems reaching them. Also, they need to update their GPS, which wasn't able to find our house.

They were very friendly on the phone and were able to come out and give an estimate within a short amount of time. The gentleman that showed up to give the estimate did not have a ladder or flashlight, we had to borrow him ours, it seems like a roofer should have a ladder. When I discovered water leaking from my roof, North Creek was able to come out right away. They did a couple stop gap repairs at no charge and measured the roof for an estimate. (I would need a tear down and new roof, which I knew when I bought the house but hadn't dealt with it yet.) Their bid was very competitive and owner Dan McNeely was very patient and helpful in explaining the estimate. Ultimately, I went another company that was equal in reputation and price but was able to schedule to the job sooner. While I can't vouch for North Creek's work, I'd definitely recommend having them on your short list of companies to bid your new roof.
