Description of Work: Replacing the entire roof

Description of Work: Better Build applied a protective Aluminum fiber coating on my torched down roof.

Description of Work: I had him out to fix the damage done by a busted pipe in my attic area.

Description of Work: Rob, Nick, and their crew replaced my old and badly leaking roof. After online research (Angie's List, Better Business Bureau, etc.) and talking to about 10 roofers and having about 5 come and look at the roof and give me advice and bids, I narrowed the choice to 2 in whom I had confidence and who were not as expensive (or, in once case, as cheap) as the others. Better Build was the low bidder, even allowing for uncertainties we had discussed that he did not include in his bid. E.g. Rob's bid included removing one layer of old roofing though I believed there were additional layers; he gave me a price per additional layer rather than including it because he did not want to charge me until he knew how many layers to charge me for. He was one of the first to come out and give me a bid, but before I completed the process, I had changed the job specifications, deciding to do all of the roof instead of just part and to demolish the chimney instead of keeping it. He sent me updated bids when I asked, and when he knew he was one of the two remaining contenders, he and Nick came out again before making their final bid. They always explained things carefully and showed me photographs when those would help answer questions I had. They were very busy, but I told them the roof needed to be finished by the end of August. I was a little worried when they did not arrive very early on 8/20, the scheduled start date. But once they started, they finished very quickly, cleaning up and hauling off the old roofing, bricks from the chimney, and other debris at the end of each day. I gave Rob a check for half the bid amount on July 31, when we signed the contract, but he did not cash it until they actually began work. At the end of the job, I still owed about 2/3 of the total bill and could not pay it all immediately. He could have charged me interest for the few weeks of delay, but he did not. We have had no problems of any kind with the new roof, and I am completely satisfied with my choice of Better Build to do the work.
