John was enthusiastic and the quality of work was very high. The project took longer than anticipated, and there were some lapses in communication, but I am very pleased with the result.

I very much enjoyed working with John and his family. Great people, great work! I will contact them again for other jobs.

This project took quite a long time for reasons due to both the contractor and me. From the time I purchased the deal until I made contact was probably close to 4 months. John was very attentive and congenial at our first meeting - and even though I gave B marks on some items he really was a gentleman and a very easy person to work with. The indecision on my part slowed us down - 1st deciding which project to do and then working out the costs. We delayed the kitchen remodel for financial reasons and went with the floor work. I gave John an absolute fixed budget and he sent me to find the product. This took awhile because of communication and adding a subcontractor for the actual work but he truly stuck to my budget. Then came the holidays and because of personal reasons on both sides (again) a postponement of work. Finally the floor was laid and John's laborers did an excellent job; it is beautiful! Then because we worked the budget just right we were able to add the baseboard installation. That required another trip out by John (no complaint on his part) with samples and to pick up a small piece of flooring to match the millwork. This then was installed by another of John's crew - again an excellent job. All in all a very happy upgrade to our home. Of course for my part some lessons learned: Do all your research first - know what you want so you don't delay the job and hold up the contractor. Having said that - make sure the schedule and price is then agreed upon and in writing. We had the budget part and although the schedule was not the most important part to us we were very glad when the project was complete. Thanks John!

The demolition was quick and clean on each bathroom. The tile work is excellent. The sub-contractors selected for frameless shower doors did a nice job. The sub-contractor for the cabinets had to do re-work a couple of times. Overall I am very pleased with the outcome. The only frustration was the duration of time to complete both bathrooms. The work started in mid-July and was completed in late October.

I received an excellent quality of workmanship and was very impressed with the subs for this contractor. The sheetrock and drywall sub, Max, did an exceptional job! I had 2 sconces in my living room at different heights. The electrician removed the fixtures and wires and Max spent about a week carefully patching and matching the wall texture. The repair matched the rest of the room perfectly. Amazing! Max also did the sheetrock and drywall for the attic space, and it is perfect too. The electrician installed 2 chandeliers and adjusted them perfectly. I had a medallion that was warped, and he took extra time to install wall anchors and screw it into the ceiling. The electrician also installed several other light fixtures, installed about 5 new outlets and installed a light in the attic. Last, I had a pull down ladder installed in the garage. Excellent quality work.

John called me the day I bought it to schedule work, and then came out to bid on the project. He was fun to work with on that phase. It took a couple weeks to get his bid back and it wasn't detailed - just the bid for labor and the Big Deal discount. There were no sketches or materials listed. The biggest problem was that his bid for the job was more than twice others' bids, and since there wasn't a line-item cost out, there was no way to determine comparable bid values. I asked for a refund of the Big Deal.

Unfortunately, I was unable to get my main project started due to scheduling conflicts. Because John felt it was the right thing to do, he offered to do a smaller project at no cost! He went above and beyond and the quality of work was superb, despite losing money on this job. I would definitely recommend working with Arnott Construction and will be attempting to schedule more work with them.

We would absolutely hire Arnott again. They are an experienced, solid, family-based company that provides quality work at a fair price -- and they are a real pleasure to work with. I solicited three bids. Arnott was the middle bidder, but we chose them because I could see that I would be working with someone who truly cared about the outcome of the project. We are very detail-oriented people, so that was important! (A note to others - John (the lead) will not try to undercut a bid just to try to get a job. He wants you to have a realistic idea of what the project will cost. We have had experience with others that try to pass off a bare bones estimate in hopes of being the lowest bidder and getting work.) I think two of the best parts about working with John are his accessibility/communication and positive attitude. He is easy to reach by cell, email, or text message and incredibly responsive. And, it is obvious that John, Bruce, and Anna all share the same goal - to make sure you are satisfied with their work. We've worked with other contractors that put a higher priority on their own schedules and ideas of what constituted "acceptable." John is also very flexible - we wanted to do a little materials purchasing on our own and bring in our own tile installer and painter. He just rolled with everything and even helped bail me out when the paint job didn't turn out the way I wanted! The bathroom turned out beautifully and we are really happy with it.

Arnott Construction did a great job. Their bid was very fair. The reason we went with them is John, his father, and his whole crew stayed an entire hour building a plan for the job. Out of 7 contractors, he was the only one to bring the entire crew onsite to "interview" They completed the work on time with high quality. I felt his team was very professional, especially Mike who did the drywall for 4 days straight. He worked long hours to get the job done so that we could move in on time. We plan on consulting Arnott construction for future projects.

I would give him top grades. I've used him several times and he has done really good stuff for me. He knows what he is doing and he doesn't waste time. He completes a job and he does it right. It is a really pleasant company to work with. I would absolutely use them again.

I am very happy with the work done by Arnott Construction. The job was fairly small, as remodels go, but the process took several days, as various parts had to dry before the next steps could be done. Anna did most of the work - she was great! Very friendly and professional. John and their father also worked on the repair. A new piece of drywall was cut to fit the opening in the ceiling, 2 x 4's were screwed in so the drywall could be anchored to them, then a coat of mud went on to seal/hide the seams. The mud dried overnight, and the next day, Anna came and put on a second coat of mud. The third day, she and John sanded the mud, then sprayed on texturing material and smoothed that to exactly match the same textured surface on the rest of the ceiling and walls. Then the ceiling was painted. End result? I can't tell there was ever a 3' x 4' "hole" in my ceiling - the seaming, texturing and painting were that well done.

Working with Bruce is great. Their work ethic is top notch. They never waste time or materials, and when there is a possible problem they discuss it with options for solutions. I feel secure that he has checked out other areas and let me know if anything needs attention that might be serious . They were careful with the shrubbery even though some of it was quite large and hard to work around. They trimmed it where it was necessary, and did it to work with the growth pattern of each plant. The clean up was thorough, and all the debris taken away so that when the crew left, my house and yard were ready for the 4th of July party. Even though Arnott Construction usually does much bigger jobs, they did this one with as much care as they give major construction. The remodeling they did for me a year ago still looks great and works really well.

Arnott Construction Co. worked with a plan from Walker Architects and made our home more accesible, more attractive and warmer. They came on schedule, were skilled at what they did, and did not waste time. Bruce made good recommendations for doors, brought plenty of samples for floors and counter tops and was innovative in solving problems. He knew the costs of everything and was careful about the budget. They made every effort to keep the house as clean as possible. ( There is no getting around dust from wallboard!) We are happy with the results. I liked having them in my home and plan to use them for exterior painting in the spring.
