 + 0 moreQuick response to my call about an estimate. Once there the electricians discussed maybe instead of 4 cam lights each set, 3 would provide an adequate amount of light. That was correct. Once the holes were drilled in the drywall (ceiling), they left the cut outs so that the drywall repairs people had this available to patch the holes. We left the case off until the ceiling could be painted. Lutron switches were installed and the one negative is the wall switch dimmers are not what we purchased for the other outlets. However, they promised to continue checking with the manufacturer representative. Since we installed the case, when they returned to do this, I had them install a new outdoor light for the backyard. We also discussed a floor outlet as we are replacing the flooring with solid wood. They left a sample of the outlet so that the floor installers had a template .
Description of Work: Install new cam lights in the living room; 3 four inch cams and 3 three inch cams and one spot light. This included installing wall switches with dimmers. Only one issue after completion was the switches not synchronized for the separate lights which was repaired without question.

Description of Work: I contacted this company because I was concerned about a dimmer switch that would get really hot. He explained to me that this was normal. He also checked out a bathroom exhaust fan that had been previously installed by another company. He pulled it out and found lint in it, and cleaned it all out for me.

 + -1 moreNo show for four hours, with two broken promises to call with an update. Finally, arrival at 4:30pm and grumbling about being able to stay only for an hour, with a broken promise to reschedule. The next time (late again) the electrician was literally out the door as I tested the outlets to discover they weren't working. He had wired a short at one of the outlets, one where he kept the old metal box. That blew the breaker and was still active, a genuine fire waiting to happen. He taped the wires, but they still scare me. He then left without basic clean up, overlooking a spool of wire he later returned to retrieve. I then found he'd disconnected other outlets during the job, and forgot to re-connect them. The owner sent him back after a curt conversation. Stuff happens: you can't always be on time, or get everything right the first attempt. But following through, checking your work, and apologizing are more than good manners: they're good practice. And I hope you get better.

 + -1 moreThe electrician was very nice and super informative as to what power was being drawn where and what to look for in the future, as far as maintenance and\or replacement. Our house was built in the 50's, so there is a lot of old wiring still being used, and he was able to point out the issues we might see in the future.
Description of Work: They came in to fix what was thought to be a short in a wire to the kitchen. After some snooping it was found to be a broken wire and was fixed quickly. Also advised on some over wattage light bulbs being used and replaced them as well.

 + -1 moreOn the 21st, this morning, at 10 am two electricians showed up to do the work. I explained to them that I had only requested one electrician and the main electrician, Craig, called the main office. When he spoke with them he had to tell me that they had many jobs to do that day and that the two people would get the job done quicker. When I said again that I only wanted one I was told that I could only have the work done today if I took both of them. I chose not to let them do the work. The owner Michelle had informed me way back on August 6th that it was completely fine to only have one worker. I had told her I was willing to pay for the additional hours and everyone was ok with that.
Description of Work: First I had a few problems getting in contact with the company. When we originally scheduled the work to install 7-10 outlets for Aug 14th at 10 am. Something came up for the 14th, so they tried to reschedule for the 9th, which I was unable meet with, so I returned the voicemail but they apparently did not get the message, so they did show up. We then rescheduled for the 21st. When we rescheduled, I reminded them that I only needed 1 journeyman so I could follow him around and explain what needed to be done.

 + 0 moreThe service PK Electric was great. Robert got to our house on time, assembled all of the fans and installed them in about four hours. He was really friendly and provided an estimate for the potential installation of an additional can light in our kitchen per our request. We had a great experience with Robert and PK Electric and would definitely use them again. The service was great and we felt the price was quite reasonable for the work performed.
Description of Work: We purchased four ceiling fans and wanted them installed professionally. Three of the fans are turned on by switch but then operated by remote control; one of the fans came with a complicated-looking, in-wall switch. All of the fans include lights. We left them in their boxes to be put together by the electrician.

 + -1 moreIt went very smoothly , I have installed 3 fans myself over the years with little difficulty. This time though it was too heavy and the electrical connection as described with the unit was confusing. I will use them again when I need electrical work done. The cost seemed appropriate for 2 men.
Description of Work: I had purchased a ceiling fan and was going to install it when it became evident some of the electrical and mechanical work was beyond my ability. PK Electric was recommended by handyman so called same. Called and they came 3 days later at 7:30 AM and installed it in 30 minutes. I was pleased. They explained operation and cleaned up.

 + -1 moreReturned several days later, I was at the hardware store with my mom and my contractor was there alone. I told my contractor before I left to mention the problem to the electrician if I was gone. My contractor did. When I returned I noticed nothing had been done with the wires and I asked the electrician about it. He hemmed and hawed and finally agreed to fix it. He also left the wires he cut all over the kitchen. Needless to say, this attitude and lack of concern for the quality of the work was disconcerting. I later called the company and spoke to the owner. She was understanding, but did not think there was anything they could do at this point. Overall, I feel the work was completed as requested, but it does make me nervous about the electrical work that was NOT visible to the naked eye.
Description of Work: Moved, combined electrical panel; added bathroom switch; changed motors in two ceiling fans. This cost did NOT include patching or repair of drywall. I picked this company because of its glowing rating on Angie's List. Before they started the work, I was impressed with their estimate, which was emailed and very clear, as well as the customer service of the office staff. As for the work, the panels were moved and combined and the switch added. However, after one of the panels was converted to a junction box (and before it was covered), another contractor I was working with noticed that instead of cutting and capping off the wires all together, the electrician merely spliced one wire onto the next and wrapped it with electrical tape. After just about two days, the tape was already beginning to come off. We agreed I needed to address this -- as it could pose a hazard -- with the electrician when he came back to replace the motors in the fans. When the electrician (Continued below)

 + -1 moreThe assistant who was not yet a licensed worked with questionable oversight by Tony. Perhaps this is standard practice but I would have liked more oversight. Tony the electrician seemed to want to do the minimum job/easiest route - not what was contracted. He claimed that switch for recessed cans could not be placed near the sink as bid because roof line in the ceiling above was too shallow. To do this would mean "tearing into siding of outside wall". Later he admitted that it could have been done the way the original bid was written... but that now I would have to pay more and get new bid to do it! Tony had to leave every day at set time for a class but WHEN he would return was always then a question. HE controlled HIS time but the office seemed not to have a clue about scheduling him to finish a job. He left me with no power to my refrigerator one night and did not want to return to fix. A closet junction box was left uncovered (he wanted to charge me to come back to cover).
Description of Work: Florescent lighting added to 4 closets with switches, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor fixture replaced, 2 recessed cans placed in kitchen, moved switch, added 2 gfi outlets, provided power to back yard (dug 8ft long trench to bury) with indoor switch, added 2 exhaust ceiling fans with switches (1 on timer), new circuit added to master bath, changed switch plate to lighted. I tried to save money and their time by buying the fixtures myself ahead of appointment. I got their recommendations as to where and what to purchase to be ready for their visit. This did not go as well as I had hoped AND they could not seem to distinguish which materials they brought vs what I provided in the billing.

I set an appointment time for their representatives to come out. 15 minutes after the appointed time he still wasn't there nor had I received a phone call telling me he was running late. I called the office and they contacted him. He called me back and was still about 40 minutes away. I couldn't wait and called the office back and rescheduled. They were very gracious and it was easy for me to reschedule. The next appointment time, I waited for an hour and 20 minutes after the appointed time to call the office. They again, were very gracious and apologetic and offered to call the representative to see where he was. I told them not to bother; this was a job interview and I was no longer interested in doing business with them. In rating, because the office staff was good to work with, I'll give a D. If it weren't for them, the grade would be all F's.
Description of Work: I needed a bid for some electrical work in my house which included relocating a panel, grounding several outlets, adding ceiling fan and regular outlets.

Since I know very little about electrical work I assumed they would handled the permits and work with the city and power company to determine requirements and coordinate work. They rescheduled the start date several time and there was confusion on what type of panel and disconnect were needed. The wrong box was order and needed to be returned. When the corrected equipment arrived it took them several more weeks to start the work. They started and stopped the work multiple times. I struggled to get on the schedule and several times when I was scheduled they did not show up. They required me to coordinate efforts with the city and power company. The work took about SIX MONTHS from the original start date until they finished.
Description of Work: Install new service and upgrade electrical panel for a duplex.

 + -1 moreI talked with a number of electrical contractors and couldn't get anyone to do my work. I was at my wits end. A friend suggested Angie's. I thought I'd give it a try & called PK Electric on a Wednesday and after talking we agreed to do this as a time & material project. This was my suggestion and decision as, like I said, I was tired of being put off. They scheduled me for 1 guy the following Monday at noon. On Monday I got a phone call about at 9am from Tony looking for my house. I gave them directions and met him there. My first reaction was they said one guy and sent two and since I was paying T&M I was going to end up with one guy working and one guy watching. This WASN'T the case at all. They worked very well together and pre-wired it. I came to a final decision about the fixtures to use. They came back the next day to install them and they cleaned up and were out of there. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! THEY REALLY CARED ABOUT WHAT THEY DID!
Description of Work: Install four halogen light fixtures and re-wire an existing range hood to a non-switched circuit.

Tony, the electrician assigned, gave an acceptable on site time estimate and completed the work immediately. He answered my questions, discovered and repaired a couple of potentially hazardous wiring problems and finished all the work in the time stated. The total time and material cost was considerably less than previous estimates from contractors who use flat fee and front-end loaded service fees. It was refreshing to find an electrical contractor who does small jobs for a reasonable price. I will definitely look to PK Electric for any future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Replace existing single hall light with two ceiling fixtures to improve lighting. Required installing a J-box, two fixture boxes and wiring to connect. An existing three-way switch was replaced and potentially hazardous wiring connections repaired.

 + -1 moreScott came out to provide the bid. He was on time and knowledgeable. When we did not receive the bid as expected we called the office. The bid had been finished but not sent to us, Michelle emailed it promptly with an apology. The electricians showed up on time, were polite and cleaned up after themselves. Although our original bid was for the laundry room and hall, once they arrived we requested additional outlets and a light to another area which they were able to accommodate while they were here.
Description of Work: We are remodeling our basement and had framed out a new laundry room. Work included installation of outlets for microwave, washer, dryer and utilities in a laundry room. Installation for a fan, and canned lighting in the hall, plus lighting and outlets in two storage rooms. PK also provided the recessed cans to match existing canned lighting.
