When I used the hose bib for the first time this spring, I noticed water leaking from under the hose bib. Upon investigation, I found that water had leaked into our master bedroom on the common wall. Damage was superficial, with carpet, wall and padding wet. I quickly pulled back the carpet away from the wall, vacuumed the water and set a fan running 24-7 for three days, which dried out everything without further damage. I believe I did enough to prevent mold from growing. I reported the deficiency to the developer (D.R. Horton), who denied my work request. The law firm who has been contracted to perform a construction defects inspection of our condominium Association, promptly contracted WES Construction to correct the problem. The frost-free hose bib was found to be defective, which resulted in the outer casing cracking, probably from the freeze, and therefore allowed water to leak into the interior wall. A foam cover had been placed over the hose bib during the winter. WES Construction sent Mark Boser to assist the plumber in replacing the hose bib which required the interior wall to be cut open to access the hose bib. The fixture was also not long enough to clear studs and therefore, improperly installed. Mark, and the plumber, did an outstanding job in fixing the problem and returning everything back to normal.
