MCVAY'S MOBILE WELDING

A couple of weeks ago, we had our fiireplace and chimney cleaned in preparation for winter. The chimney sweep brought my attention to the beginning of a crack in the back of the steel 'heatilator' insert in our fireplace. He recommended a 'mobile welding service' to repair the crack. I selected McVay's Mobile Welding from a Google search and Angie's List. I called Mike McVay on a Friday afternoon. Although he didn't have any other pending jobs in our area, he said he'd send someone out on Monday or Tuesday. Monday morning, I got a call that a technician was coming out, and he showed up a bit later. The work was done very well -- the area around the crack was thoroughly cleaned with a grinder, and then three beads of weld were applied: the first right over the crack, and two more on either side to reinforce the first. Everything was done with quality, there was no mess, and our fireplace is as good as new. My only possible complaint was on the $300 price tag for less than an hour's work. But when you figure that the fireplace is probably good for another 20 years or more, that's only about a dollar a month.

MR. MCVAY CAME OUT TO THE HOUSE TO GIVE THE ESTIMATE ON THE WELD AND TO DETERMINE IF THE JOB COULD BE DONE. THE WELD WAS DONE PERFECTLY, AND THE HINGES ON THE BACK WERE REPAIRED ALSO. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR WELDING.
