Douglas & Sons

We are very happy with the work done by Douglas and Sons. Our back patio is beautiful and the concrete work done to our driveway, front steps and side of our house is exactly what we wanted. We had been wanting to redo our back patio for a long time and finally decided on concrete. I am so glad we did. We will be spending all of our free time on the back patio next summer. If I ever need concrete work again, I will call Douglas and sons!

I contacted the company to set up an appointment to get an estimate. I took the day off and no one showed up. I called them and left a message as well as trying to contact them via Facebook. They did not get back to me until late in the afternoon. They mistakenly put me in their phone for the next day. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt as mistakes happen and set up another time for them to come by and take a look at my job. They never contacted me back.

My husband and I recently wanted to add a patio to our backyard to replace the swamp our grass has turned into. We called Douglas and Sons and got a much better estimate than all the other companies we contacted. Then when the day came to get started, they made sure we were getting the exact patio that we wanted. The workers were nice and courteous, and they finished very fast and efficiently. They did not cut corners or leave the project looking anything but perfect. They also cleaned up after themselves amazingly, to the point you can't even tell there was a big project going on. Both my husband and I are so thrilled with how they did our project that we will definitely be calling them for our next one!

We we multiple issues that James said he would come back and fix which hasn't happened. They ran out of concrete while pouring my patio so they sent the truck to go get more. Now there is a definite difference where they stopped and started when the truck returned. I have all of this work on video as well as in writing that they would return in June to fix cracks and reseal patio. Since then we have contacted James multiple times and been given dates that someone could come out and fix it and no one shows up. I would caution anyone looking to have work done with douglas and sons. James was very rude when we spoke with him. I wish I wouldn't have paid him until we were satisfied

They poured in a rain storm that was so bad that the expansion joints ran together (affects concrete quality when there's too much water). They then complained when i forced them to cut expansion joints into the concrete. I made them go back twice to finish the job. Afterwards, they were passive aggressive when stripping the forms and damaged my drainage. They also demanded payment before they were done and screamed at my wife then hung up on her when she said we'd pay when they were done. James is really nice until you try to make him do the work agreed upon.....once the BSing doesn't work he tries bullying. He's one of the least professional contractors I have ever dealt with (and i deal with contractors daily).

This is the worst contractor experience I have ever had in my life. With the larger of the two patios, he ran out of concrete before he finished the pour and the second concrete truck showed up late so that we have a very clear mark in the patio where the one portion of the pour finished and the other was done. I tried working with James Douglas to help him fix the problem, and was subjected to some of the most horrendous behavior I have ever been subjected to as a customer. Two months after install, we have two huge cracks in the largest of the patios and James Douglas refuses to answer my communication despite committing to a 5 year warranty in his quote. He does not deliver what he promises and has been extremely rude in several interactions. I am now left with no choice but to take legal action and contact the Better Business Bureau. I would never recommend him to anyone and highly recommend staying away. I recommend reading other reviews about him. The negative reviews that talk about his bad behavior are not exaggerations.
