The refused to actually fix the problems in a way that would bring them up to code. The gentleman they sent out as a customer service rep and repairman was constantly "stoned" on marijuana.
Description of Work: We contracted with Belmark Industries to build a house in the Bayview Ridge develpment of Marysville, WA. The original bid seemed to be reasonable, particularly when their agent provided an upgrade from oak flooring and cabinets to maple flooring and cabinets at no extra charge. This was the beginning of our problems with Belmark. They proved to be a vindictive company that actually broke building codes and had their workers sabotage our house. There was no metal flashing to the window wrapping around the house which caused major leaking and damage to our hardwood floors. (We had to pay not only for the windows to be "flashed", but had to have the floors re-sanded, with new Swedish finish applied to them, but also to have the sliding door to our deck reflashed as well. The fireplace insert was installed incorrectly which damaged the gas line running to the pilot light. This caused the pilot light to "go out" frequently until it could no longer stay lit. Because of the damage to the pipe, it necessitated removing the entire insert and buying a new one in addition to having to replace the tile around the insert. The garbage disposal was installed with the switch directly under the sink with a non-insulated switch box (accessible to children!) We still get "shocked" when running it. When they furnace was installed, the workmen stuffed the air return duct with loose insulation, which caused the furnace to run without proper air return. This burned out and cracked all four heat exchangers. If we had not had a carbon monoxide detector, our family would have died. After the furnace was replaced, the new one kept running overtime and cracked its heat exchangers. (This is when we had workmen discover the insulation in the ductwork.). We had problems with drainage, which required the workmen to install a system to remove water away from the foundation. Just today, workers found that the drainage system simply moved the water back into our crawlspace!!!!!!!Don't even get me started on our water system, and how they purposely bent the water intake pipe! (They had "forgotten" to put a hole in the foundation to run the pipe through it, so they created a "crack" at the top of the foundation and "bent" the pipe to fit it actoss to our house. The pipe leaked for several years before it was discovered.
