AUTOMATIC DOOR & GATE CO

Initially, everything was fine. Within a few days of initial contact, the rep came to my house and gave me a bid for an automatic gate that would lead into my alley. He told me about the gates they've done for Bill Gates (unavoidable pun :)) and other very wealthy people. He also told me they were "the only place in town" and so if I wanted a gate it was pretty much them, or no one. After receiving the bid that seemed high and 6-8 mo lead time, I declined. I looked for other options and unfortunately he was right: there are few. So I went back to them (over a year later) and spoke on the phone with this same rep and when I asked him if the bid was still good, he laughed and said no, it was not. I declined to get a new bid until a few weeks later, when my wife convinced me to call them back. I did so and spoke with the rep's assistant, who said she would pass along the message. Since the scope of the project hadn't changed, she said they should be able to create another bid very easily. Well, that was >3 months ago and I never received the second bid.
